The Subaru Forester entered its sixth generation in 2025 as a bigger, more tech-heavy and pricier version of its pre-makeover self. Publications like Edmunds are giving it lukewarm reviews so far, but if you're looking for a used compact SUV known for reliability, fuel economy, comfort and safety, look no further than one generation back to the Generation 5 Forester.
In 2024 — the last model year for Gen 5 — CoPilot for Car Shopping chronicled the Forester's best years since its 1998 debut, and determined that anything from the 2019-24 Gen 5 run is a winner.
Kelley Blue Book (KBB) cite the fair market value of the typical 2021 Forester — which both its experts and customers alike gave a stellar 4.4-star rating — as $19,971 at the entry level, but even the highest trim package keeps you under $25,000.

The Honda CR-V has been a mainstay on America's highways since the mid-1990s. The car/minivan blend has been a perennial family favorite for most of that time, but whether you trust Edmunds, KBB or Car and Driver, 2021 was a banner year, even by CR-V standards — all three and many others agreed it was one of the best SUVs for the money.
They call it spacious, reliable, roomy, fun to drive and packed with tech that punches above its price point — and then, of course, there's that famous Honda reliability and low ownership costs.
According to KBB, a $25,000 budget can get you behind the wheel of a 2021 Honda CR-V in any of the first three trim packages, leaving only the EX-L Sport Utility 4D and fully loaded Touring Sport Utility 4D out of reach, but only by $773 and $1,776, respectively.
According to Car and Driver, the RAV4 is Toyota's best-selling model and America's best-selling vehicle that isn't a pickup truck — and the 2020 model sheds light on why.
KBB gave that model year a near-perfect 4.8 stars, citing its fuel economy, comfort, reliability and even its light off-road chops.
The entry-level package has a KBB fair market value of $22,250, and even the next trim up can be had for $24,064. If your heart is set on the next-best package, the XLE Premium Sport Utility 4D, don't scratch it off your shortlist just yet — the average is just $555 over-budget, so sub-$25,000 options are out there for those willing to turn over enough stones.

Future Amazon orders may be delivered to your door by a humanoid robot workforce. The Information reports that Amazon is developing AI software that will enable robots to operate as package delivery workers that are ferried around in Rivian electric vans, and will soon be ready to start real-world testing at a new facility. Citing an anonymous source 'involved in the effort,' The Information says that Amazon has almost finished constructing an indoor 'humanoid park' at one of the retail giant's San Francisco offices that's roughly the size of a coffee shop. The obstacle course reportedly contains one Rivian van for training purposes, with Amazon aiming to have humanoid robots 'hitch a ride in the back of Amazon's electric Rivian vans and spring out to deliver packages.' The report coincides with Amazon launching a new agentic AI team to help develop technologies that will power robots 'operating in Amazon distribution and logistics hubs.' In a statement to Silicon Valley, Amazon says that 'instead of rigid, specialized robots, we're creating systems that can hear, understand, and act on natural language commands, turning warehouse robots into flexible, multi-talented assistants.' Amazon is already using a variety of autonomous robots in its warehouse operations, including a trial of Agility Robotics' humanoid 'Digit' — a robot that was originally pitched for tasks like sitting in the back of vans and delivering packages, alongside other logistics uses. Amazon's training facility is a concerted effort to make this original vision a reality. The Information reports that a 'variety' of humanoid robots will be tested for package delivery at its facility, including a $16,000 unit from China-based Unitree. Hundreds of thousands of people currently handle delivery operations at Amazon globally. Amazon acquired the robotaxi company Zoox in 2020, suggesting a desire to fully automate end-to-end package delivery, from the warehouse to your front door.

The appointment was disclosed in a regulatory filing on Wednesday and comes as part of a significant leadership shakeup at the ride-hailing giant. This week, Uber saw the departure of Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, head of its delivery arm, after a 13-year tenure. In a move to consolidate leadership, Andrew Macdonald previously overseeing mobility has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. This marks Uber's first COO appointment since 2019. The Hemi Is Back! Ram Adds a V8 Option for 2026
But it wasn't that easy. The first actual plan said it would take about 18 months to get a V8 back into a Ram. Not satisfied, Kuniskis put together a team led by former Ford SVT employee Darryl Smith, now the special program technical manager for the Hemi project, and they brought the timeline down to six months. The Hemi will arrive this summer on the 2026 Ram 150 0 Tradesman, Big Horn, Express, Warlock, Laramie, Limited and Longhorn, with the Rebel joining later this year. The V8 engine will be a $1,200 option over the more powerful and efficient 3.0-liter standard-output twin-turbo inline-six, itself a $1,695 jump from the 3.6-liter V6 base engine. The Limited and Longhorn models that come standard with the high-output version of the inline-six engine can swap for the Hemi at no additional charge. The only two Ram variants that won't get the V8 option are the RHO and Tungsten. The Hemi V8 will only be available with eTorque mild hybrid technology and, like before, will deliver 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The eTorque hybrid motor-generator unit place of the alternator and works with a 48-volt battery pack to aid with startup and takeoff power. It can add up to 130 lb-ft of torque and recoups energy under braking. Ram also says the eTorque system enhances shifts, improves fuel-saving cylinder deactivation, and smooths transitions under acceleration and braking, which helps reduce noise, vibration and harshness. However, all new vehicles with Hemis also include the GT sport exhaust, so there might be a trade-off. Equipped with the Hemi V8, the 2026 Ram 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of up to 11,470 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 1,750 pounds.
