Katie Nolan reiterates her staunch defense of Pablo Torre in Bill Simmons spat: ‘Bro, come on'
Nolan elaborated on her decision during an episode of 'Pablo Torre Finds Out' on Thursday, where she called out Simmons for his comments about Torre's coverage of the couple.
'I picked you, it wasn't like … there was no hesitation. [Simmons] didn't even listen to the episode!' Nolan said. 'I listened to it back and I was like 'Bro, come on.' … [Pablo] was out there in LA, so he did Simmons' podcast, refuting Simmons saying that it was whatever, s–tty reporting or whatever.

'And basically during the episode, he was like, 'Have you listened to any of the episodes that the aggregated comments you're referring to are coming from?' And Simmons was like 'What I'd like to talk about instead is…''

The beef between the two started in May when The Ringer founder said Torre was 'pretending to be a journalist' for his reporting on Belichick and Hudson, tying in fictional character Leo Farnsworth from the 1978 film 'Heaven Can Wait' in the process.

'Pablo Torre would've done a long podcast about Leo Farnsworth trying to practice with the team, and then done a media tour about it afterwards,' Simmons said during an episode of his podcast 'The Rewatchables' on May 27.

'I've never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you're a journalist. What the f–k was that? Seriously.'
'Belichick's dating a girl. 'Oh, let me do nine shows about it,'' Simmons added while mocking Torre. 'Settle the f–k down … You don't need to do a media tour about a f–king podcast.'

Torre quickly snapped back at Simmons following his comments, sending him an invite to debate the topic on his podcast.

'Dear @BillSimmons: Since you have such a strong public opinion about my work… I happen to have a few questions for you, specifically,' Torre posted on X on June 2. 'Unless you're afraid of @pablofindsout and someone just 'pretending to be a journalist,' of course. Thanks, Pablo.'
The two eventually discussed the situation on 'The Bill Simmons Podcast' earlier this month, with Torre defending his work against pushback.

Where ESPN's 'College GameDay' will be in Week 0
The wait for the 2025 college football season is finally ending. The season begins with a Week 0 clash between No. 21 Iowa State and No. 20 Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland, at noon ET on Saturday, Aug. 23. Unlike last year, ESPN's beloved college football pregame show "College GameDay" will not be airing from Dublin, Ireland, in Week 0. Instead, ESPN is scheduled to have an episode of "SportsCenter" at 9 a.m. ET and then "College Football Countdown" at 10 a.m. ET. Fans wanting more college football coverage can also tune into a preseason edition of the "Herbie Awards" on ESPN2 at 9 a.m. ET. College football fans will have to wait until Week 1 for the return of GameDay, which will be hosting Lee Corso's final show during ahead of the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes game on Saturday, Aug. 30. GameDay's 2025 season coverage will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Aug. 30 from Columbus, Ohio, on ESPN. Lee Corso, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee all serve as analysts for GameDay. It is unclear why GameDay is not attending the Iowa State vs. Kansas State game, but we suspect it is to limit the amount of travel the hosts have to do over the course of the season. Flights to Dublin are over six and 1/2 hours from New York City and Dublin has a five hour time difference from the East Coast. College football's expanded playoff and schedule meant that GameDay hosted 22 different shows last year, which is far more than GameDay attended in previous years. New TV deal for Southland
The Southland Conference will get more exposure in the coming years. On Wednesday, the league announced it signed a multi-year agreement with CBS Sports to televise future league events on linear television. Starting in the 2025-26 season, CBS Sports Network will televise up to five men's basketball games annually, adding to the deal the league recently renewed with ESPN earlier this month. It is a big win for the conference and its commissioner, Chris Grant, who continues to try to build the league's brand on the regional and national levels. 'Adding CBS Sports to our media rights lineup is another huge win for the Southland,' said Grant in a statement. 'This partnership amplifies our momentum, puts even more of our incredible student-athletes on national television, and shows that the Southland brand continues to surge forward. We're thrilled to bring our basketball programs to an even bigger audience.' Southland men's basketball has been on the rise the last two years, thanks in large part to the elevation of the McNeese basketball program, which won its first NCAA Tournament game last season. Under head coach Will Wade, the Cowboys became a national sensation last season when they upset Clemson in the tourney. They fell to Purdue in the second round. After winning the last two Southland titles, Wade moved on to North Carolina State, while the Cowboys named Bill Armstrong the new head coach. The new deal with CBS Sports makes the Southland a growing mid-major league in terms of national exposure, something Grant has been trying to accomplish. 'Visibility is currency in college athletics,' added Grant. 'With CBS Sports joining ESPN as a Southland media partner, we're not just showing up—we're standing out.' The new deal will be a boost to McNeese, which is likely going to get more exposure as well as the league's current top dog. 'I'm thrilled about this new TV contract,' said McNeese State head coach Heath Schroyer. 'Not only did we get a new and better deal with ESPN, but having five more basketball games on linear TV is a game changer for the Southland. 'This enhances our brand as a conference in a way nothing else can.' Schroyer gave credit to his commissioner. 'What Chris Grant has done for this league in a very short amount of time is simply amazing,' Schroyer said. 'The league is in a great place, and this new contract with CBS signifies that. I couldn't be happier or more excited.' Saturday, the conference will be on center stage when Incarnate Word travels to Nicholls to help open the new football season on one of the ESPN networks. 'That game is a great opportunity for our league to showcase some of the talent we have,' said Grant. Last year, McNeese opened the season on ESPN linear at Tarleton State during Week 0.

Falcons OT Storm Norton out 6-8 weeks after ankle surgery
The Falcons offensive line is having a tough day on the injury front on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that tackle Storm Norton is set to miss six-to-eight weeks after having ankle surgery. Norton has been sideline for an extended period of time this month. The news of Norton's timeline comes shortly after right tackle Kaleb McGary was carted off the field at practice. McGary appeared to suffer a lower left leg injury and the Falcons said he will have an MRI. Norton, who has been in 31 games for the team over the last two years, would have been next in line at right tackle if healthy. Elijah Wilkinson took over after McGary's injury and the Falcons may have to look for more help if McGary is set for a long absence from the lineup.
