Will PM agree to have full debate in Parliament on countrys post-Pahalgam security, asks Congress

The Hindua day ago

The Congress on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi, having met the members of the seven parliamentary delegations that were sent abroad, will now agree to have a full debate in the monsoon session of Parliament on the country's post-Pahalgam security and foreign policy challenges.
The Opposition party also asked whether PM Modi will at least chair a meeting or a set of meetings of leaders of all political parties and take them into confidence on India's future strategy vis-a-vis both China and Pakistan.
PM Modi on Tuesday (June 10, 2025) hosted the members of the multi-party delegations, comprising parliamentarians and former diplomats, who travelled to various world capitals over the past few weeks to convey India's message on the need to eradicate the menace of terrorism following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
In a post on X, Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said now that the PM has himself met with the members of the seven parliamentary delegations that had been sent to various countries, will he at least now chair a meeting or a set of meetings of leaders of all political parties and take them into confidence on India's future strategy vis-à-vis both China and Pakistan and the strategic implications of the CDS' revelations in Singapore.
His remarks were in reference to the comments made by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan in Singapore recently that India rectified tactics and hit deep inside Pakistani territory after suffering losses of aircraft in the recent military clashes with Pakistan. He had also dismissed as 'absolutely incorrect' Islamabad's claim of downing six Indian jets.
Mr. Ramesh also asked if the PM will agree to have a full debate in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament on the country's post-Pahalgam security and foreign policy challenges since the request of the INDIA bloc parties for a special session has been most unfortunately rejected.
Now that the PM has himself met with the members of the seven Parliamentary delegations that had been sent to 32 countries, will he at least now -

He further asked whether the PM will redouble efforts to bring the Pahalgam terrorists, who were reportedly involved in three earlier terror attacks in Poonch (December 2023), and Gagangir and Gulmarg (2024), to justice.
Mr. Ramesh also asked whether a group of experts like the Kargil Review Committee, which was chaired by the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's father K. Subrahmanyam, will be set up to analyse Operation Sindoor in detail and give its recommendations on the future of warfare, including emerging military platforms and technologies, and building national capacities for strategic communications in crisis.
'Will the report — after suitable redactions — be placed in Parliament like the report of the Kargil Review Committee was in Feb 2000?' Mr. Ramesh said.

The Government had sent the multi-party delegations to convey a message of national unity in the fight against terrorism, with the likes of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi joining the ruling alliance members in championing the Indian cause abroad.
Prominent former parliamentarians in the delegations included ex-Union Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Salman Khurshid.
The Congress has also been urging the government to clarify U.S. President Donald Trump's claims about brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and object to his hyphenation of India and Pakistan.
The Government has maintained that issues between India and Pakistan will be resolved bilaterally and without any third-party intervention.

Only Cong can ensure protection, justice for minorities: TPCC Office Bearers

Hyderabad, June 12 (UNI) Senior Muslim leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday asserted that only their party had the vision, commitment, and track record to ensure justice, protection, and genuine empowerment of minorities in the state. Addressing a media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan here, the newly appointed TPCC Vice Presidents and General Secretaries praised the Congress government for its inclusive governance and historic welfare initiatives aimed at the socio-economic upliftment of minorities. The interaction was hosted by TPCC Official Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, who facilitated a dialogue between the media and the newly appointed Muslim office bearers. Prominent among those who participated were TPCC Vice Presidents Nawab Mujahed Alam Khan and Afser Yousuf Zai, along with General Secretaries Mohammed Abdul Faheem, Mohammed Asaduddin, Rahmath Hussain, and Mohammed Sabir Ali. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Nizamuddin said that the Congress party has a legacy of safeguarding minority rights and promoting inclusive development. He said the newly appointed Muslim leaders in the TPCC bring with them years of grassroots experience and social commitment, and their elevation reflects the Congress party's dedication to ensuring political representation for every section of society. 'Congress is the only party that not only talks about minority welfare but actually delivers it through policy, budget, and political empowerment,' he stated. Nizamuddin also said that the Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has been proactive in reviving public confidence among minorities, especially the youth, who had lost faith during the previous regime. He emphasised that the allocation of Rs 840 crore for minority self-employment schemes was a transformative step that could redefine the economic future of thousands of underprivileged families. He strongly condemned the propaganda being spread by opposition parties and said such efforts were aimed at creating confusion among minorities. 'No amount of misinformation can hide the fact that Telangana is witnessing a renewed focus on secular, inclusive governance. The Congress government is committed to maintaining communal harmony and will not tolerate any attempt to polarise society,' he added. The Chief Minister has shown a genuine commitment to the welfare of minorities, translating promises into concrete actions, they pointed out that the Congress government had increased the budget for Minority Welfare to a record Rs 3,591 crore for the financial year 2025-26 - a significant leap from previous allocations. 'This is not just a symbolic gesture but a clear sign of political will to address the long-standing neglect of the Muslim community,' said Mujahed Alam Khan. The leaders further elaborated on the series of welfare measures that have directly benefited the minority communities. Responding to criticisms by opposition parties, the newly appointed office bearers condemned what they described as a malicious campaign to defame the Congress government. 'The opposition is rattled by the popularity of Congress-led welfare initiatives and is resorting to baseless allegations. The truth is, Congress is delivering on its promises with honesty and transparency,' said Mohammed Asaduddin. In conclusion, the TPCC Muslim leaders reaffirmed their faith in the Congress party's leadership and its ability to bring lasting change to Telangana's minority communities. They called upon the community to remain united and support the government's initiatives aimed at justice, empowerment, and equal opportunity. 'The time for tokenism is over. Under Congress rule, minorities are not just being heard - they are being empowered,' said Mohammed Sabir Ali. UNI KNR SSP

"He is the only PM who tells lies, entire India knows this": Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 12 (ANI): Backing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday said the PM is known for making false claims and 'entire India knows this.' Speaking to reporters, Minister Reddy said, 'He is the only PM who tells lies. Entire India knows people are liars. Why do you give prominence to those people?' Responding to a question on the recent stampede incident in Bengaluru, Reddy said it would not be appropriate to comment at this stage as an official investigation is underway. 'Already, an inquiry is going on. It's better not to comment on it now,' the minister said. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier sharpened his attack on Prime Minister Modi, marking the completion of 11 years of the BJP-led government at the Centre. Drawing from his decades-long political experience, Kharge alleged that he had 'never seen a Prime Minister who lies so much.' The Congress President said that he had been in politics for 65 years and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been deceiving the youth and securing votes by luring the poor. Kharge added, 'I had been saying this in Parliament for a long time, and I had never seen a Prime Minister who lied so much, made so many mistakes, trapped people, deceived the youth, and took votes by misleading them. I had been in politics for 65 years. He lied about everything, and not a single promise was implemented.' Furthermore, the Congress President highlighted that PM Narendra Modi did not respond whenever he was questioned on issues such as demonetisation, MSP, or unemployment. 'When we asked him, he did not have any answers--whether it was about demonetisation, unemployment, or MSP. There were so many such issues. He never told the people that he had misled them. He just kept making one statement after another and claimed that his 11 years were over,' Kharge added. (ANI)
