
Man, 81, on electric bike killed in crash with transit van
The 81-year-old cyclist and a grey Ford Transit collided at the access road to Hazelbank, near Stachur, at around 11.40am on Sunday, August 17.
Emergency services attended and the e-bike rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving the van was not injured.
The road was closed to for crash investigations to take place and reopened at around 7pm.
Police Scotland said enquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and officers are appealing for information.
Sergeant Archie McGuire said: 'My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.
'I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash and witnessed what took place, or has any dashcam footage which could assist, to please get in touch with officers.'

Two men in court after alleged firebomb attack on Edinburgh taxi firm

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged firebomb attack on an Edinburgh cab company. The pair were arrested and charged after taxi firm Capital Cars was allegedly torched in the early hours of Monday morning. Dovesi, from Edinburgh, and Dudgeon, of Stirling, face charges of wilful fireraising and attempted murder and attempted wilful fireraising. Dovesi faces further charges of breaking the road traffic act and misuse of drugs act. They made no plea and were remanded in custody. They are set to appear back in the dock in the next eight days. Fears were raised yesterday that the firebomb attack could be linked to the ongoing gang war in Edinburgh and Glasgow. "Emergency services attended, however the fire had not taken hold and there was no significant damage. "There were no reports of any injuries. "Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested and charged in connection. "Both men are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 19 August, 2025."

Man charged after police chase ends with car crash in residential area
A man has been charged after a police chase ended with a vehicle crashing in a residential area of Edinburgh. Police launched a pursuit of a vehicle after it failed to stop on Captains Road at around 12pm on Tuesday. The vehicle involved subsequently crashed on The Wisp. There were no reports of injuries.
