Top brokerages have delivered a mixed outlook on Dr. Reddy's Laboratories following its Q1FY26 results. While Jefferies and CLSA retained their Underperform ratings citing concerns over U.S. business momentum and gRevlimid tapering, Morgan Stanley maintained an Equal-Weight stance with a ₹1,298 target. CLSA: Cautious on U.S. growth taper
CLSA kept an Underperform rating with a target of ₹1,120, saying Q1 earnings were in line with estimates. However, it expects the U.S. base business to be flat or grow at low single digits, and noted that gRevlimid sales could start tapering from Q3FY26. The potential launch of Semaglutide in Canada and India may partly offset this slowdown, CLSA added. Jefferies: Q1 miss, watching key launches
Jefferies also retained an Underperform rating with a lower target of ₹1,100, citing a Q1 miss due to a decline in U.S. sales, particularly gRevlimid and the base business. SG&A and R&D expenses stayed elevated. However, Jefferies is watching two key pipeline catalysts: the approval of gOzempic in Canada and U.S. filing for Abatacept, which it believes could meaningfully contribute to revenue if launched on time. Morgan Stanley: Balanced view
Morgan Stanley took a more neutral stance with an Equal-Weight rating and a target price of ₹1,298. It noted that Q1 revenue grew 11% YoY, but gross margins declined due to higher price erosion and lower operating leverage. EBITDA was in line, while PAT rose 2% YoY. Morgan Stanley believes the risk-reward remains balanced.

Morgan Stanley sees a 'rolling recovery' underway that's set to drive the stock market up 12% by mid-2026

Morgan Stanley says that corporate earnings are in a "rolling recovery." The bank is doubling down on its bullish forecast for the S&P 500 to jump to 7,200 in a year. Morgan Stanley sees the outlook for corporate earnings boosting stocks to new heights in the coming 12 months. After markets were battered in April amid Donald Trump's tariff announcements, earnings are getting a boost from a handful of sources. The bank said that April's price action represented the end of a "rolling earnings recession" that began in 2022. "Now, we appear to be transitioning to a rolling recovery backdrop aided by positive operating leverage, AI adoption, dollar weakness, cash tax savings from the OBBBA, easy growth comparisons, pent up demand for many sectors, and a high probability of Fed cuts by 1Q26," the bank's chief investment office Michael Wilson wrote. The bank sees the S&P 500 rising to 7,200 in its bull case, a 12% jump from Friday's close. It also said the probability of such an outcome for the broad index is on the rise. Wilson said that high valuations that some observers have been fretting over appear to be justified. The bank recommends the industrials sector as its top pick, even after it has been the top-performing sector of the S&P 500 year-to-date. Major market indexes have risen steadily over the past week, with the S&P 500 closing at record highs on July 25. The index is up 9% year-to-date. Morgan Stanley's prediction comes as economic uncertainty appears to be easing. With President Donald Trump announcing a new trade agreement with the European Union and the Federal Reserve expected to cut interest rates later this year, investors may be feeling more confident in the market's strength. "The historically sharp inflection we're seeing in earnings revisions breadth confirms this process is underway," the bank stated, noting that it sees this phenomenon as underappreciated. Customs uncertainty pushes Adidas shares into the red

Customs uncertainty and unstable end markets are affecting Adidas' growth and putting pressure on the German sportswear manufacturer's shares. The company's shares fell by more than 7% on the DAX stock market index following the release of quarterly figures on Wednesday. The reason for the decline is that the company has not raised its forecast for earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) this year, the analysis firm Jefferies said. Experts are now questioning whether the uncertain situation will also lead to more turbulence for wholesale order books. The strong euro weighed on revenue development, as the Herzogenaurach-based company reported. Revenues increased by around 2% to €5.95 billion ($6.87 billion) in the second quarter. Currency-adjusted, Adidas achieved an increase of 8%. According to the information provided, operating profit improved by 57.7% to €546 million, exceeding analysts' expectations. Adidas benefited from fewer discounts as well as lower product and freight costs, it said. For the rest of the year, the company still sees "upside potential" due to "strong results" in the first half of 2025. However, the US customs policy poses significant risks, it added. Rio Tinto posts smallest first-half profit in five years on weak iron ore prices

(Reuters) -Rio Tinto logged its smallest first-half underlying profit in five years on Wednesday, pressured by weak iron ore prices amid oversupply concerns and slowing China demand, and flagged rising costs at its Pilbara operations. Iron ore prices eased in the first half of the year as steel production in top consumer China declined and more supply from Australia, Brazil, and South Africa came to the global market, denting Rio Tinto's earnings from the steel-making raw material. Expectations that China will curb overcapacity in the steel sector and likely restocking before 2025-end could underpin a pickup in prices to $100 per metric ton towards the year-end, according to a note by Morgan Stanley. Rio Tinto, the world's largest iron ore producer, reported underlying earnings of $4.81 billion for the six months ended June 30, down 16% from a year earlier and missing a Visible Alpha consensus of $5.05 billion. This was the company's weakest first-half performance since 2020. The miner, which is increasingly shifting its focus to copper, declared an interim dividend of $1.48 per share for the first half of the year, lower than the $1.77 apiece it gave out last year. For the six months ended June 30, Rio Tinto's unit costs at its flagship Pilbara iron ore operations in Western Australia rose to $24.3 per wet metric ton (wmt) from $23.2 per wmt last year, due to lower shipments and impact from cyclones. For the full-year 2025, Rio Tinto had earlier forecast a range of $23 and $24.5 per wmt. It maintained its full-year Pilbara shipment guidance at the lower end of its 323 million tons (Mt) and 338 Mt forecast range.
