ABU DHABI (WAM)Dr. Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the National Library and Archives, has been elected as President of the Arab Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ARBICA), representing the United Arab Emirates.The election serves as a testament to the National Library and Archives' achievements at local, Arab and international levels. It also underscores the institution's accelerated progress in archiving and documentation, reaffirming its position as a leading entity in preserving national memory and safeguarding documentary heritage. These efforts have further enhanced its prominent standing in the Arab cultural and archival landscape.
On this occasion, Dr. Al Ali expressed his honour at the trust placed in him. He affirmed that the National Library and Archives, an active member of the International Council on Archives since 1975, takes great pride in standing at the forefront of Arab archival institutions receiving international recognition.

Belhaif Al Nuaimi: SCC's discussions focus on citizens' well-being
Real Community Engagement Al Nuaimi noted that the second session witnessed 17 council meetings, compared to 12 in the previous term. The number of laws discussed rose to 10 from 5, and the number of submitted requests increased to 205 from 150. The session concluded with 22 recommendations, doubling the 11 recorded in the first session. These figures reflect the genuine involvement of council members in addressing community issues and public affairs. Dialogue Driven by Citizens He noted that the true measure of the council's effectiveness lies in the satisfaction of citizens with the services delivered by government institutions. Inside the council's chambers, performance is carefully assessed, and in collaboration with the Executive Council, proposals and recommendations are submitted to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Al Nuaimi stressed that dialogue with institutions is driven by public concerns and is focused on addressing citizens' needs, in line with the leadership's vision that prioritizes the well-being of the individual. Citizen-Centered Social Vision The Chairman commended Sharjah's human-centric and socially driven approach under the guidance of the Ruler of Sharjah. He emphasised the importance of service institutions in responding to social and health-related issues through strong engagement with the community. He further applauded the strong collaboration among all stakeholders, particularly the proactive efforts of government entities such as the Sharjah Housing Department, which plays a key role in fulfilling the needs of citizens. Supporting Public Welfare He noted that during this legislative term, the council focused on establishing a more institutionalized approach, shifting from isolated sectoral efforts to tackling broader issues that impact all citizens and residents of Sharjah. He emphasised the dedication of council members to overcoming obstacles and actively engaging with the community to address their needs and support their aspirations. Distinguished Role of Sheikha Jawaher He also commended Sharjah's ongoing initiatives aimed at supporting families and children, as well as its commitment to sharing these successful experiences beyond the UAE. He highlighted the visionary leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, in advancing Sharjah's family-centered vision throughout the Arab world, through key institutions such as the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. Ministerial Development Council reviews key government reports
ABU DHABI (WAM) His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Development Council at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. The Council reviewed several key reports and updates on the progress of government programmes and initiatives. The meeting's agenda included discussions on proposed regulatory decisions related to donation policies, the tax system, and government services. The Council also reviewed updates on the implementation of policies and programmes related to national housing, education, labour market, food safety, climate change and environment, as well as the achievements of Make it in the Emirates. Ministries' and federal entities' reports on advancing the efficiency of the federal government sector were also reviewed. In governmental work affairs, the Council reviewed recommendations from the Federal National Council on bolstering the performance of public sector employees, and strengthening the role of government media channels in protecting the national identity.
