Tripoli sees armed clashes amid chaos
Tripoli - Saba:
News reports indicated that the Libyan capital, Tripoli, has been witnessing a dangerous escalation in the intensity of clashes since Wednesday morning between security and military formations affiliated with the unity government, on the one hand, and others affiliated with the Deterrence Force to Combat Organized Crime, on the other.
Reports indicated that the clashes, in which heavy and medium weapons were used, extended to densely populated areas, including streets belonging to the municipalities of Tripoli Central and Ain Zara, as well as the vicinity of the Souq al-Juma municipality and other scattered neighborhoods, further complicating the humanitarian and security situation.
The reports indicated that as the fighting intensified, families trapped in the fighting areas appealed to the relevant authorities to open safe corridors and allow them to leave to more areas. Meanwhile, the Libyan Red Crescent announced a state of maximum alert, noting that it had received a large number of distress calls, given the difficulty of field movement and the lack of safe routes. It called for the provision of safe corridors to enable them to provide aid and evacuate stranded families.
The fighting resulted in extensive damage to public and private property, with a number of homes and vehicles severely damaged. Official authorities have yet to announce the final death toll.
In this regard, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), along with a number of diplomatic missions, called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities, stressing that the ongoing clashes deepen instability and threaten to spread the violence to other areas.
These developments come after escalating security tensions in Tripoli over the past two days following military operations carried out by the Ministry of Defense affiliated with the Government of National Unity. These operations resulted in the seizure of the headquarters of the Stabilization Support Apparatus, affiliated with the Presidential Council, and the killing of the head of the apparatus, Abdul Ghani Al-Kikli, in an incident that sparked the ongoing clashes.

Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine welcomes Libyan ambassador's statements at SC
Gaza - Saba: Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine welcomed the courageous and bold stance expressed by the Libyan ambassador to the United Nations Taher al-Sunni at the Security Council, when he described the suffering of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as a "holocaust," an accurate description of the crimes of genocide perpetrated by the Israeli enemy against the Strip. In a press statement issued Thursday, the Front considered this stance a sincere expression of the free Arab conscience and the genuine position of every human being who rejects injustice and aggression, at a time when the major colonial powers, led by the United States, Britain, and France, have rushed to attack and demonize the Palestinian people, despite their full complicity in this holocaust through military and political support and legal cover for the Zionist enemy. The Front emphasized that the mass killing of children, women, and civilians, the deliberate starvation, the widespread destruction of infrastructure, and the systematic forced displacement taking place in the Gaza Strip exceed in scale and brutality the Holocaust by thousands of times, and constitute a stain on humanity. These crimes target human existence itself, reproducing the atrocities of Nazism and fascism using Zionist methods masked by hypocritical Western rhetoric. It emphasized that the Security Council session demonstrated once again that the international system, which is supposed to protect peoples from genocide, has become hostage to the interests of colonial powers, which do not hesitate to defend the enemy's crimes while attacking anyone who dares to call them by their true name. The Front called on all free people of the world and people of conscience to pursue this criminal entity, its leaders, and its supporters, to prosecute them as war criminals, to pressure for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of the war of extermination, to end the siege, and to support our people's struggle for freedom, return, and independence.
