Martin was asked about the 18-year-old's contribution vs Middlesbrough post-match: "Yeah, he showed good instinct today," he said.
"And he got better on Tuesday as the game went on, and he showed some good stuff today, some good timing, some good bits. So, just a really good learner.
"And I thought Nico [Raskin] was brilliant next to him today as well. Best Nico's played since we've been here, so I'm really pleased with Nico's contribution because I think having Max Aarons and Nico on your side of the pitch will definitely help Findlay.
"And he just needs to keep listening, keep learning. Good instinct today, good character, good attitude. As long as he keeps doing that, he'll be fine."

Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri signs new five-year deal

Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year contract which runs until 2030. The 18-year-old scored nine goals in 37 appearances last term during his breakthrough season with the Gunners. He then helped England Under-21s retain the European Championship title. 'It means everything to me, I'm so happy to have got it done,' Nwaneri told Arsenal's website. 'This is where I feel at home and where I'm going to develop the best. 'I'm very excited. I see this as my first real season and part of a proper squad in the changing room. I'm so excited for what I can bring to the team and how I can help the team.' Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history in September 2022 when he came off the bench in Arsenal's 3-0 victory at Brentford at the age of 15 years and 181 days. He made another cameo appearance – in a 6-0 victory at West Ham – the following season before becoming a first-team regular last term. The academy graduate registered his first professional goals by bagging a brace in the Gunners' 5-1 Carabao Cup success against Bolton last September. He started 11 of his 26 top-flight appearances across the 2024-25 campaign, scoring four times, in addition to registering two goals in seven Champions League outings. Arsenal begin the new Premier League season on Sunday, August 17 away to Manchester United.

‘That's my honest answer' – Brendan Rodgers quizzed on whether Celtic will make another signing before Euro play-off

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BRENDAN RODGERS admits there's no guarantee Celtic will strengthen before the Champions League play-off. The Hoops boss still wants replacements for Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi - with the play-off in ten days. Asked if players would be signed for the play-off, he said: 'I really don't know. That's my honest answer. "There's no news on signings. We just have to keep working to get the players in and there is a lot of work going on with Paul Tisdale and his staff. "We are hoping we can conclude deals and improve the squad. That's the ongoing plan. 'By the end game, we want to get the right players in and we know what the supporters want. 'In the meantime we will work with the players who are here to make them the best that they can be.' Pressed on whether the current Celtic squad is strong enough to get through the play-off, Rodgers said: 'Whether it is or it isn't, that's irrelevant. 'I have to deal with the players who are here and squeeze every bit out of them. 'I'm very hopeful that we can add players in the coming weeks but I can't afford to get bogged down in it. 'We are very clear on what we need and where we want to improve. Nicolas Kuhn poses for selfies with Celtic fans as he greets team-mates and Brendan Rodgers at Como Cup 'Hopefully we can add the players that can make our football smile even more.' Celtic have left it late to get big business done in previous windows - spending £26million on Arne Engels, Auston Trusty and Adam Idah last summer. Rodgers wouldn't be drawn on what the hold-up is in this window but expects reinforcements to arrive at some point. He said: 'The board have shown over many years that the work will get done. 'As a group that runs the club and have run it so well for so many years, they have to get what they feel is the best value for the players. 'Of course, as coaches and managers and supporters, you want the best players. 'But ultimately, the club will be run in a way that makes sure that both the best players and the best value is there to be made. 'That clearly sits above me.' Celtic have the option to postpone their Premiership clash with Livingston on August 23 - 72 hours before a potential trip to Kazakhstan. But Rodgers said: 'We will be playing against Livingston. Definitely. 'It's going to be a tough game no matter who we get in the play-off but it's early in the season and we don't want to postpone a home league fixture.' Meanwhile, Rodgers has again pleaded with the Green Brigade to bin the pyro. Celtic have been hit with an SPFL charge for the use of fireworks in a May clash with St Mirren at Parkhead. The Green Brigade face a 200-ticket loss for one match if there is another pyro display this season and Rodgers urged those responsible to listen. Rodgers said: 'The safety of supporters is of paramount importance and that is the message.' Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Rangers vs Dundee: Mikey Moore and Thelo Aasgaard latest as Dens men bid to add Dhanda to mix for Ibrox

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE waiting game continues when it comes to letting teenage prodigy Mikey Moore off the leash for Rangers boss Russell Martin. The on-loan Tottenham star turns 18 on Monday, which should unlock some of his availability problems. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 2 Dessers scored the winner in a thriller at Dens Park the last time they clashed Credit: PA 2 Plzen had no answer for Rangers pair Gassama and Antman Credit: Willie Vass But his registration won't be through in time for Saturday night's clash with Dundee and it's likely he still WON'T be involved for the second leg with Plzen, as players cannot be added to European squads midway through a tie. Moore or no, Martin got the response he was looking for in the Gers' Champions League qualifier with Viktoria Plzen. Now he'll be hoping to build on that 3-0 win with victory against a depleted Dundee side at Ibrox on Saturday. Martin was furious with his players in their opening day 1-1 draw with Motherwell last week. Martin accused some of "self-preservation" and needing to "drop their egos" in an astonishing blast after the game at Fir Park. He's got another intriguing selection dilemma for the clash against the Dens men as the big calls he made against Plzen on Tuesday - dropping captain James Tavernier and arguably Rangers best player last season Nico Raskin - paid dividends. In came Jefte, Lyall Cameron, new signing Oliver Antman and Cyriel Dessers and the increase in fluidity of the performance was stark. Oliver Antman and Djeidi Gassama terrorised the full-backs, Cameron added energy in the middle of the park, Aarons looked more comfortable at right-back and Dessers linked up play well upfront. Martin will be expecting more of the same against a struggling Dundee side on Saturday evening. The new Rangers transfer special looks at John Souttar's future, Rangers' defensive search and if it's the end of Nicolas Raskin Steven Pressley's outfit lost 2-1 to Hibs in their Premiership curtain raiser and pressure is already mounting on the Dark Blues boss after a disappointing Premier Sports Cup campaign. Pressley, who replaced sacked Tony Docherty in June, admits his squad is far short of where he would like it to be after 12 players left in the summer, including Cameron. Dundee last emerged victorious at Ibrox back in 2001 with goals from Claudio Caniggia and Steven Milne in a 2-0 victory. What time does Rangers vs Dundee kick off? Rangers take on Dundee TOMORROW, Saturday, August 9 The match kicks off 5.45pm UK time. It'll be held at Ibrox. What TV channel is Rangers vs Dundee on and can I livestream it? Rangers vs Dundee is live on Premier Sports 1 Coverage starts at 5.15pm - half an hour before kick off. It can be streamed live on the Premier Sports player Team News New signing Thelo Aasgaard and striker Hamza Igamane have missed the last few games with knocks and both REMAIN out. Dujon Sterling is a long-term injury and isn't expected back October. Mikey Moore is still unavailable to the Ibrox men as his registration hasn't come through from FIFA. Dundee will be without star striker Simon Murray who has a knee injury in a further blow to Steven Pressley's hopes of taking something from the encounter. Midfielder Charlie Reilly has a broken collarbone and isn't expected to return until the end of the month. Former Gers star Steven Pressley could add Hearts playmaker Yan Dhanda to the mix.
