YRF Pauses Salman Khan-SRK Tiger VS Pathaan As Spy Franchise Undergoes Revamp: Report
YRF paused Tiger vs Pathaan to explore new ideas. Aditya Chopra is re-evaluating the spy universe, says reports.
It looks like Tiger vs Pathaan may not take off anytime soon. A new buzz suggests that YRF has temporarily paused the much-awaited face-off between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. While some whispers hint at the film being shelved, reports clarify that producer Aditya Chopra is actually exploring fresh creative directions. He's said to be in talks with multiple directors to reimagine the film's approach, hoping to give the spy universe an exciting new twist.
A Peepingmoon report said, 'Aditya believes the spy universe films are veering towards repetition and needs a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation. So he is re-evaluating the roadmap and making significant changes to future plans."
Adding to the speculation, the report also mentioned that the goal behind this pause is to avoid 'formula fatigue." YRF is aiming for a fresh take—one that breaks the usual pattern and brings in new storytelling styles and perspectives. The team reportedly wants Tiger vs Pathaan to stand out.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, during a conversation with News18 Showsha, Salman Khan had spilt the beans on the Yash Raj Films spy universe movie. Salman mentioned that his film with Shah Rukh Khan is 'not happening for now". There were also rumours that the film has been put on hold as Aditya Chopra wants to revamp the spy-verse. However, it is important to note that no official statement has been released on the matter.
On the other hand, Aditya Chopra and YRF are currently focusing on Ranbir Kapoor's Dhoom 4. According to a Pinkvilla report, Aditya Chopra and writer Shridhar Raghavan will finalise the script for Dhoom 4 soon. 'Aditya Chopra has been closely involved in developing the story and screenplay of Dhoom 4 with Shridhar Raghavan. They are currently working on the story draft that's worthy of the hype around the reboot with Dhoom 4," a source told the publication.
The source also mentioned that Ranbir Kapoor is equally excited to be a part of the franchise. 'Ranbir is the apt choice for Dhoom 4, and the character is also designed keeping his aura and personality in mind. The new Dhoom film is being designed keeping the global action standards in mind, and the visual palette, as also storytelling, will be very different from the already established YRF Spy Universe," the source mentioned.
The team is eyeing April 2026 to begin filming Tiger vs Pathaan. While things are still being finalised, Ayan Mukerji is currently in talks to direct the much-awaited face-off between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Interestingly, Ayan is also busy with War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, alongside Kiara Advani. Meanwhile, YRF is juggling multiple big projects, including Alpha, led by Alia Bhatt, with Sharvari and Bobby Deol also playing key roles.

Coolie worldwide box office collection: Rajinikanth's Coolie is going from strength to strength at the box office. The action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj opened to record-breaking numbers and has kept the momentum going through its extended opening weekend, despite some lukewarm reviews. Now, Coolie has done the unthinkable by becoming the number one movie at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend. Coolie worldwide box office collection: Rajinikanth's film has topped the global box office this weekend. (Photo by Raju Shinde/HT Photo)(Raju Shinde) Coolie worldwide box office report Coolie earned ₹194.25 crore net ( ₹233 crore gross) in its four-day extended opening weekend in India. It is the fastest Tamil film to ₹100 crore, and will likely become the fastest to ₹200 crore on Monday. But Coolie's overseas earnings are just as impressive. The film set new benchmarks for Tamil films with record-breaking openings in North America, the UK, and Australia. By Sunday, the film has earned over $18 million ( ₹160 crore) in the international market. Its total worldwide haul stands at ₹393 crore ($45 million) after four days. How Coolie became the #1 film in the world Coolie's $45 million haul is impressive for any Indian film in its first four days. But the end of the Hollywood summer and the absence of a big tentpole film in the US this weekend have meant that it is enough to top the charts globally as well. Coolie managed to beat the horror film, Weapons, which earned an estimated $44 million over the last four days (Thursday-Sunday). The Zach Cregger film earned $29 million in the US, according to Box Office Mojo, in addition to $15 million overseas. In the third spot during this extended weekend is Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2, which has earned an estimated $30 million in its first four days. The YRF Spy Universe is level with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's Freakier Friday, which brought home the same amount. The only new Hollywood release this weekend - Nobody 2 starring Bob Odenkirk - opened at just $14 million worldwide, far behind Coolie. All about Coolie Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie stars Rajinikanth as the titular retired coolie, who ends up embroiled in a gangster's world (Simon, played by Nagarjuna) after the death of his friend. The film also stars Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj, with a cameo from Aamir Khan.

Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's ‘Saiyaara' survives the box office storm of Rajinikanth's ‘Coolie' and Hrithik Roshan's ‘War 2', mints Rs 1.9 crore in last four days
Mohit Suri's romantic drama 'Saiyaara,' starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has impressively grossed approximately Rs 325.37 crore in 31 days. Despite facing competition from Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' and Hrithik Roshan's 'War 2,' the film has maintained a steady performance. 'Saiyaara' added Rs 1.9 crore in its fifth week, demonstrating its audience loyalty and resilience at the box office. Mohit Suri 's romantic drama Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda , has quietly managed to carve a niche for itself at the box office despite facing two of the year's biggest juggernauts Rajinikanth 's Coolie and Hrithik Roshan 's War 2. After completing 31 days in cinemas, Saiyaara has collected a net total of around Rs 324.50 crore, powered by a strong opening and respectable holds in its first four weeks. However, the real test for the film began mid-August, when two mega releases hit theatres On 14th August, Coolie and War 2 clashed at the box office and took away most of the screens from Saiyaara thereby, limiting its reach and pushing it into a survival battle. Yet, the film has held its ground remarkably well. In the last four days (Day 28 to Day 31), Saiyaara still managed to add Rs 1.90 crore to its total Rs 20 lakh on Day 28, Rs 50 lakh on Day 29, Rs 57 lakh on Day 30, and Rs 63 lakh on Day 31. For a month-old film running against two of the biggest pan-India blockbusters of the year, these figures are a testimony to the loyalty of its audience. The film opened to Week 1 total of Rs 172.75 crore, and in the second week it added another Rs 107.75 crore to its kitty. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Week 3 major drop in collection as it earned only Rs 28.25 crore in Week 3 and Week 4 stood at Rs 14.05 crore in Week 4. Still, the fact that the film continues to earn in its fifth week despite being squeezed out of prime showtimes is a huge achievement. The arrival of Coolie and War 2 undeniably dealt a blow to Saiyaara's box office momentum. Trade reports suggest that the film lost major screens overnight, with most cinemas preferring to allot maximum screens to the big-ticket actioners. But Saiyaara's relatively modest budget, its strong music album, and the emotional connect of its love story allowed it to hold on to a steady audience base. With its current total and steady trickle of collections, Saiyaara is expected to finish its lifetime run in the range of Rs 330 crore net, an exceptional number for a film led by a debutant. More importantly, the film's resilience against the might of Coolie and War 2 makes its performance all the more commendable.
