Indonesian authorities have detained 12 suspects after uncovering an alleged baby trafficking ring that sent more than a dozen infants to Singapore, a police official said on Tuesday. The perpetrators are accused of moving the babies to Pontianak city on Borneo island and then sending more than a dozen of them onwards to Singapore, said the official. 'Based on documents, 14 [babies] were sent to Singapore,' he said. 'The age range is clearly under one-year-old, with some three months old, five months old, and six months old.' Advertisement Authorities managed to rescue five babies in Pontianak and one in Tangerang, a city near the Indonesian capital Jakarta. They also arrested a dozen suspects across Jakarta, Pontianak and the Javan city of Bandung. 'They are a syndicate, a baby trafficking syndicate. They each have their own roles,' said Surawan.

An 88-year-old man who was ill was found dead and his wife hospitalised after their two daughters discovered the couple passed out at their home in Hong Kong's North Point and called police. Police said on Tuesday that officers were alerted at 1.55am by a woman who found her parents unconscious in the bedroom of their flat in Lai Tak Tsuen in North Point. According to police, the woman had tried calling her parents but had failed to reach them. It prompted her to visit their home, but no one answered the door. Her sister then came with a key and opened the flat's door. They found the couple in the bedroom and called police. The man was certified dead at the scene, while his wife, 78, was semi-conscious and sent to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai for treatment, police said. The force said the man had a history of illness, adding that the cause of his death would be determined after an autopsy.

Malaysian police arrested a 21-year-old Chinese national on Monday on suspicion of slashing his ex-girlfriend's neck with a knife at Taylor's University on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Footage of the attack posted by students to Reddit and RedNote showed the victim, aged 20 and also Chinese, sprawled on the floor, clutching her neck as friends desperately called for help. Other students restrained the suspect, who was still holding a knife, until authorities arrived. Subang Jaya police confirmed that the victim had suffered a slash wound to the left side of her neck but said she was in a stable condition.
