All roads lead to first Business Standard Infrastructure Summit today
With the theme 'India Builds: For Growth & Green', the summit will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, financiers, and global experts to deliberate on the country's infrastructure roadmap for a sustainable and developed Bharat. Aiming to bring India's infrastructure success story to the fore, the premier event is being organised at the Taj Mahal Hotel here.
A carefully curated agenda would cover the whole gamut of India's infrastructure ambition.
The day-long event will range from funding models for Viksit Bharat to the future of energy, aviation, and logistics. The summit will host six sessions through the day on varied topics related to roads, shipping, airports, power, renewable energy and more.
The event will host some of the biggest names of the infrastructure sector including Christoph Schnellmann, CEO, Noida International Airport; Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, Delhi International Airport; Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power; Rahul Mithal, Chairman and Managing Director, RITES; Amit Singh, Head of Business, South Asia & Middle East, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL); and Kapil Mahajan, CITO, Allcargo Logistics.
Some of the other leaders of the infrastructure sector to speak at the summit include Gauri Singh; Deputy Director General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Co-Founder, ReNew; Prashant Choubey, President, Avaada Group; Alok Kumar, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power; Akshit Bansal, CEO & Founder, Statiq; Jagan Shah, CEO, Infravision Foundation; and Ramanuj Kumar, Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.
The three ministerial sessions will be a key highlight of the day, with renewable energy minister Pralhad Joshi and shipping minister Sonowal delivering special addresses, while roads and highways minister Nitin Gadkari featuring in the
closing fireside conversation on India's infrastructure vision, policies, and regulatory outlook.
The summit is expected to offer a mega platform for dialogue between the government, industry, and experts at a time when infrastructure is poised to be the backbone of India's growth story for decades to come.

Govt raises ₹1.42 lakh cr via asset monetisation till FY25
New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) The government has raised ₹ 1,42,758 crore through different modes of asset monetisation up to FY25, Parliament was informed on Thursday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, said the projected financial contribution of asset monetisation for the current fiscal year is ₹ 30,000 crore. The government monetises highway assets through three modes – Toll Operate & Transfer (ToT), Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT), and Securitization (Project based financing through SPV). Responding to another question, Gadkari said since inception of the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025 (Scheme) pilot programme in six states and Union Territories with effect from March 2024, as many as 4,971 road accident victims have been treated till 31st July, 2025. Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025 (Scheme) has been notified on a pan-India basis. Under this scheme any person who is a victim of road accident caused by the use of a motor vehicle shall be entitled to treatment cover up to ₹ 1.5 lakh per victim, subject to a maximum cap of 7 days from the date of accident at any designated hospital across the country. Also, responding to a different question, he said as per data available on VAHAN portal as on 12th August 2025, the total number of High Security Registration Plates affixed on vehicles was 20,16,32,06. The minister also said as on August 12, 2025, a total of 2,76,990 vehicles have been scrapped at Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs). Under ToT Mode, open market bids are invited. Road stretches are awarded for a concession period (15-30 years) to the highest bidder, which must be above the reserve price. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has formed National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT). NHAI offers stretches to NHIT for 15-30 year of concession period to obtain their highest valuation. NHIT's offer price is compared with the reserve price. NHIT in turn raises money through bonds and discover the best price through sale of units on SEBI platform. Under securitization Mode, NHAI has been authorised to raise long term finance from banks and by issuing bonds by securitizing user fee receipts from toll plazas on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway as an alternate mode of asset monetization, through a Special Purpose Vehicle.

India-Russia ties steadiest since World War II, says Jaishankar in Moscow
In a joint press briefing in Moscow, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said India and Russia have been 'the steadiest of the major relationships in the world after the Second World War.' Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov echoed that sentiment, describing the ties as a 'special strategic partnership' shaped by the two countries' Jaishankar, who arrived in Moscow after a round of trade and economic talks with Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, said his meeting with Lavrov was an opportunity to review both the political relationship and bilateral cooperation. 'I look forward to an exchange of views on politics, on trade, on economics, investment, defence, science and technology, and of course people-to-people exchanges,' he spoke about recent high-level engagements, including the 22nd Annual Summit last year and subsequent leadership meetings in Kazan. 'They have always given us guidance to take forward our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,' Jaishankar said, adding that preparations were now underway for the next summit at the end of this also pointed to an active bilateral calendar, mentioning visits by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery. 'All these showed how deep our relationship is,' Jaishankar at the global context, Jaishankar underlined the need to adapt to 'the evolving geopolitical situation, the shifting economic and trade landscape, and our shared goal to maximise our complementarity.'Lavrov, welcoming Jaishankar, said he was glad to host him in Moscow after a busy schedule of meetings. Washington has doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50 per cent and imposed fresh duties on crude oil purchases from Russia, sparking concerns in New Delhi over economic fallout and the threat of secondary this context, Jaishankar stressed the importance of expanding and diversifying cooperation with Moscow.
