IND vs ENG 2nd Test: 'Daftest selection decision' - Social media goes bezerk after Bumrah, Kuldeep and Sai absences

India have rung in the changes for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, with batter Sai Sudharsan dropped and the exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav stirring debate among fans and pundits alike.
England, who lead the five-match series 1-0, won the toss and opted to bowl first on a pitch expected to assist early seam movement.
Sudharsan, who scored 0 and then 30 in the first Test at Headingley, has made way as India sought to recalibrate their top order. The 23-year-old's debut outing was underwhelming, and with the pressure of a must-win encounter, the management opted for a reshuffle.
Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has also been rested, as part of his workload management.
His absence has opened the door for the inclusion of Akash Deep, with Shardul Thakur also making way. The duo's exit has seen Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy included in the XI, bringing in both versatility and fresh energy.
However, what has caught the most attention is the continued omission of wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Despite conditions that could assist spin later in the match, Kuldeep was once again left out.
Fans took to social media expressing disbelief over the call, particularly with the team seeking wicket-taking options on a wearing surface on Day 4 and 5.

The squad decisions meant that hundreds of reactions poured in, with one tweet reading that India would need '650 and then some magic' to win. Another argued that Sai Sudharsan being dropped was a mistake and that he should have been given more time. Being dropped the very next game after his debut did not sit well with many.

NHL Predictions: 3-time All-Star Ryan Suter likely to retire as market interest fades in offseason

3-time All-Star Ryan Suter likely to retire (Image via The Daily Faceoff) As the NHL offseason heats up, conversations around veteran defenseman Ryan Suter's future are beginning to lean toward an inevitable conclusion: retirement. At 40 years old, with production on the decline and minimal interest from contending teams, Suter may soon hang up his skates after a two-decade-long career. Ryan Suter may retire as market shrinks and contenders look elsewhere Despite still being available on the free-agent market, the interest in Ryan Suter is notably quiet. The once-reliable blueliner, who tallied just two goals and 13 assists this past season, appears to be nearing the end of his NHL journey. Bleacher Report's Erik Beaston believes retirement is becoming the most realistic option for Suter, especially if no compelling offers arise. "At age 40, it would appear rather unlikely that Suter would noticeably improve on those numbers, begging the question: what does he have left to prove at this point?" Beaston wrote. 'Outside of chasing a Stanley Cup, what can he realistically do at this point in his career that he had not already accomplished?' Cup dreams may be the only motivation left Suter's career has been nothing short of impressive—he's a 3-time NHL All-Star, former cornerstone of both the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators, and one of the league's most dependable defensemen for years. But as Beaston points out, 'Short of signing a short-term deal with a contending team, simply for the experience of winning the prize that has eluded him for over two decades, retirement should not be out of the question. ' Contenders like the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, or Winnipeg Jets could theoretically be landing spots, but as of now, none have signaled strong interest. The postseason grind requires depth and durability on the blue line—two qualities Suter once brought in abundance—but time has caught up with the veteran. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 반복되는 무릎통증,, 수술없이 / 단 1회 주사치료, 가능하다? 무릎치료 30년 - 장덕한방병원 서초본원(서울,강남) 더 알아보기 Undo His performance in the 2024–25 season reflects a steady decline, and with younger, faster defensemen flooding the league, Suter's traditional stay-at-home style has lost value. As teams continue to prioritize speed and offensive upside from their back end, veterans like Suter are being edged out. NHL Trade Rumors: Insider dismisses Maple Leafs' interest in bringing back Nazem Kadri

Nazem Kadri return to the Toronto Maple Leafs is unlikely (Image via AP) As NHL trade rumors continue to swirl this summer, one nostalgic scenario making the rounds involves Nazem Kadri — the former fan-favorite Toronto Maple Leafs center — making a sensational return to the team that drafted him back in 2009. Kadri, now with the Calgary Flames, is coming off an impressive 35-goal, 67-point season and still plays with the grit and edge that once defined Toronto's second line. Yet, while fans may be dreaming of a fairytale reunion, top NHL insider David Pagnotta doesn't believe it's a realistic scenario. Insiders say a Nazem Kadri return to Toronto Maple Leafs is unlikely 'I think they would entertain it,' David Pagnotta said during a discussion with Nick Alberga. 'I just don't see a fit with Toronto.' Kadri's current contract with Calgary runs through 2029 and is valued at $49 million — a hefty $7 million cap hit per season. While the Leafs recently gained flexibility by trading Mitch Marner, using up that newfound space on a 33-year-old forward nearing the back half of his prime could severely limit other key roster moves. Adding more skepticism to the idea is Calgary GM Craig Conroy's clear stance on keeping the Flames competitive. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'If you believe what Craig Conroy, their GM is saying is (true), and that's, they want to stay competitive,' Pagnotta noted, 'Then I don't see it, I don't see a fit that makes sense for both sides.' That's a double blow for Leafs fans who still feel Kadri was moved prematurely in 2019. Spencer Lazary of The Hockey Writers added fuel to the fantasy, saying, 'If Treliving brings him back, he would be able to slot in on the second line, which could push John Tavares to the wing or even to the third-line center.' With new head coach Craig Berube and GM Brad Treliving preaching toughness and a culture shift, Kadri's physical, relentless style checks the right boxes. As Treliving said in May, 'There's some DNA that has to change in our team.' Diddy's NFL ownership ambitions collapse amid sex trafficking conviction and serious federal charges

Diddy once aspired to NFL ownership, aiming to buy the Carolina Panthers (Image via Reuters) Before Sean 'Diddy' Combs became the center of a high-profile criminal trial, the hip-hop mogul was eyeing one of the most powerful seats in American sports — NFL team ownership. What many forget is that Combs, a global music icon and entrepreneur, once had serious ambitions to buy the Carolina Panthers, and he wasn't alone. NBA superstar Stephen Curry even expressed interest in teaming up with him to make it happen. How Diddy nearly bought the Carolina Panthers Instead of leading an NFL franchise, Diddy is facing major legal troubles. A New York jury recently found him guilty of two counts of trafficking individuals for prostitution, though he was acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges. The case was ignited by a lawsuit from his former girlfriend Cassandra 'Cassie' Ventura, whose emotional testimony helped tip the scales in court. Diddy first announced his intentions to purchase the Carolina Panthers in 2017, shortly after the team was put up for sale. At the time, racial tensions were high in the league following Colin Kaepernick's national anthem protests, and Diddy positioned himself as a voice for change. 'Man, I really wanted to go in there and be a part of the NFL and try to be a positive change,' he said at the time. 'This last move, though, I don't even want to own an NFL team no more. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo ' That 'move' referred to the NFL's controversial 2018 decision to require players to stand for the national anthem — a rule that many saw as a direct backlash to peaceful protests by Black athletes. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft even supported the idea of Diddy joining the exclusive club of NFL owners, saying, 'I hope so... I'm a big fan of his.' However, Diddy made it clear his vision went beyond himself. 'It was never about me buying the Panthers. It was always about 'we.' It was always about 'we' need a team,' he explained in an interview with The Breakfast Club. Also Read: Antonio Brown mocks Cam Newton with viral post while on the run from police Combs believed that with nearly 70–80% of NFL players being Black, it was time for Black ownership to reflect that reality. Unfortunately, his legal troubles have overshadowed his ambitions — and any hopes of owning an NFL team now seem all but gone. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story.
