Lachlan Turner victorious in Unadilla WMX overall, Charli Cannon wins first moto
'It's definitely fun battling with someone, but I like winning,' Turner told NBC Sports.
Turner now has a 24-point lead over the field with three motos remaining. Next week in Mechanicsville, Maryland, at Budds Creek MX Park, the series will race three motos to make up for one they lost to weather in Thunder Valley earlier in the season.
Moto 1 at Unadilla featured one of the most exciting races of the season, in the men's or women's division. Cannon pressured Turner throughout the moto, rarely giving up more than a one second margin. The exception was on Lap 5 when Cannon hit a slick spot on one of the backstretches and pushed off course. She slowed her pace and lost two seconds in the process, but that galvanized her and she was back on Turner's rear fender immediately.
'It was kind of a kick in the butt,' Turner said of the action. 'I haven't really lost any ground [yet]. She was ripping and I didn't have it. So I capitalized and showed her, showed everyone really, in the second moto.'
Cannon did not fare as well in Moto 2. She got a poor start and while trying to close the gap on Turner, crashed heavily midway through the race. On a step up, she caught a square edge, cased the jump, and was pitched over the handlebars. The bike was damaged in the crash, but Cannon remounted and carried on. She lost about 20 seconds with the crash and withstood a challenge by Mikayla Nielsen in the closing laps.
'The track got a little bit more bumpy, but I don't really know what happened,' Cannon said. 'I didn't just feel at one with the bike. It wasn't a smooth ride. I was making too many mistakes, so I'm going back to analyze it.'
Nielsen also finished third in Moto 1 to score third overall.
Jordon Jarvis with a pair of fourth-place finishes was fourth overall with Kyleigh Stallings fifth (5-5).

Budds Creek Motocross betting, odds, picks, lines: Justin Cooper, RJ Hampshire are evenly matched
One race remains in the Pro Motocross season as the 450 riders set their sights on the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX). But first, there is unfinished business in the outdoor season, and while most positions in the points and seeding for the SMX are determined, pride is still on the line and there are bonus checks to be accumulated for the Budds Creek National in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Jett Lawrence wasted no time climbing back to the top of the chart last week in the Unadilla National after suffering his longest losing streak of two races as a 450 Motocross rider. One of those losses came at the hands of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) when he was penalized a lap for fouling the start at Ironman. Regardless of whether the penalty was too harsh, his mistake was avoidable. The other loss came when he was beaten in head-to-head competition at Washougal. Jett remains the prohibitive favorite with a -278, but that is better than the eight-round average of -450 that he accumulated in his early winning streak. Hunter Lawrence (+252) finished second in both Unadilla motos and was scored second overall. That is a difference of a little less than 60 points from his Unadilla line (+193) and considerably lower than the remainder of the field. Alt Sports Data's traders fully expect the Lawrence brothers to end on a high note. Eli Tomac (+760) smiled with his lips, but there was determination in his eyes when he said he was tired of losing to the Lawrences. He has only one more opportunity to show them why he won so many championships during his storied career. The open question for Tomac is how chemistry with the team has been affected by the knowledge that he will not ride for them in 2026. Justin Cooper's (+1861) Motocross odyssey made him the No. 1 seed for the SMX Playoffs, and his steady progression is apparent in the evolution of his betting line. He debuted at 98/1 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. A strong top-five overall finish there cut his odds in half for Hangtown the following week (47/1), and since then, his line has been steadily lowered. That is a firm indication that the traders believe he is capable of stringing two solid motos together. He will need a little help from the competition, but if they turn attention to SMX, he could get it. Cooper's podium odds are +178. Notably, RJ Hampshire (+2345, overall win) has slightly lower podium odds (+165) than Copper, while his outright win odds are nearly 500 points higher. Bettors and fans can tell a lot from betting lines, and this suggests they value Hampshire's consistency over that of Cooper. In a head-to-head matchup, has them virtually even with -120 odds for Cooper and -110 for Hampshire. Dylan Ferrandis (+7476) returned to action at Ironman, but it was a last-minute decision. Ferrandis has his first betting line of the season, which is significantly higher than his Supercross season average of +6018. Phillies broadcaster John Kruk wonders about the creator of the 1st clock during game
Former Philadelphia Phillies star John Kruk pondered one of life's biggest questions during the team's game against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. Kruk, who is the color commentator for NBC Sports Philadelphia, wondered about the creator of the clock. "So, you know how I think of things when I have free time?" Kruk asked play-by-play man Tom McCarthy. "So, I was wondering. The person who invented the clock, the first clock ever. How did that person know what time it was?" McCarthy said that was a "really good question" as Alec Bohm reached first base on an error from the second baseman in the bottom of the fourth inning. McCarthy then guessed that the person who created the clock might have used a sundial to calculate what time it was. "Is that accurate, though?" Kruk asked. The former first baseman said he had no answer for his own question and thought he would ask McCarthy in case he had the answer. The inventor of the clock is pretty tricky to pinpoint. Ancient civilizations developed the first timekeeping devices. The first sundials and water clocks were determined to have been used in 1200 B.C. by the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians. Several inventors helped further develop the clock as most people nowadays have turned to digital devices over analog. Kruk is definitely one to keep asking world questions in the middle of baseball games. He's keen to find another brainbuster to keep fans guessing.
