Oklahoma farmer killed by water buffaloes he bought at auction the day before, police say

CBS News14-07-2025
A farmer in Oklahoma was killed by two water buffaloes that he purchased at a livestock auction the day before, police said Monday.
Police and fire personnel were called to a farm in Jones, Oklahoma, about 20 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, on Friday around 8:35 p.m. local time about an individual who had been attacked by the animals, a police news release said.
"Upon arrival, first responders were initially unable to reach the victim due to the aggressive behavior of the animals," the release said.
The first responders put down one of the buffaloes to get to the victim, who was identified as Bradley McMichael.
He had "multiple deep lacerations that proved to be fatal," police said.
The second buffalo was later put down after it "became increasingly agitated and posed a threat to emergency personnel" as the scene was being processed, the news release said.
McMichael had bought the animals at a livestock auction on Thursday.
"It is believed that while tending to the animals, he became trapped inside their enclosure," police said.
McMichael's family told KFOR, an NBC affiliate, that purchasing livestock was a passion for him.
"He was at the auction Thursday night and he loved to be there, he was in good spirits. The best mood I've seen him in a while," his girlfriend, Jennifer Green, told the station.
"His farm was his dream," the post says.

On Aug. 1, the 22-year-old son of the Food Network personality and her husband, , lost an appeal to get his driver's license back. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals upheld the revocation of Bryce's license, according to court documents obtained by People. In May 2024, he was arrested in Stillwater, Okla., on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. An officer who was dispatched in response to a report that neighbors were trying to start a fight observed a group of men run into a nearby home. The party who called alleged they had 'been drinking, trying to start fights, and had been driving around recklessly.' After the officer stayed in the area for roughly an hour, he observed the lights of a Ford pick-up truck turn on and approached the driver, identified as Bryce. Allegedly, Bryce 'demonstrated multiple 'clues' indicating intoxication,' prompting the officer to determine he "was in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol." A judge dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Bryce in April, The Oklahoman reported. However, civil action by Service Oklahoma resulted in the loss of his right to drive freely for 180 days. The appeal that Bryce lost was to overturn that decision. Parade reached out to Ree for comment but did not immediately hear back. In addition to Bryce, Ree and Ladd share four children: , 28, , 25, , 21, and a foster son, Jamar, 23. Labour councillor ‘called for far-right protesters' throats to be slit'

A Labour councillor called for far-right protesters' throats to be slit during a 'rabble-rousing' speech at an anti-racism protest, a court has heard. In the wake of rioting following the Southport murders, Ricky Jones, 58, described demonstrators as 'disgusting Nazi fascists', his trial was told. The now-suspended councillor had been told by the Labour Party to stay away from the protest, but turned up anyway, jurors heard. A video showing Jones addressing the crowd in Walthamstow, east London, on August 7 last year went viral on social media after the protest. Wearing a black polo top and surrounded by cheering supporters, the councillor said: 'They are disgusting Nazi fascists. We need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.' He also drew his finger across his throat as he spoke to the 'tinderbox' crowd. The demonstration had been organised in response to plans for a far-right march outside Waltham Forest Immigration Bureau, jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court were told. It followed the nationwide violent disorder that occurred last summer after the Southport murders. Prosecutor Ben Holt said Jones used 'inflammatory, rabble-rousing language in the throng of a crowd that we will hear described as a tinderbox'. Opening the case on Monday, Mr Holt said: 'Last summer, three young girls were killed at a dance-themed party in Southport. 'There was some hysteria… Some of that grief manifested itself in anger, and regrettably, violence.' The incidents brought out counter-protests, one of which Jones decided to go to, the prosecutor said. 'He attended in the face of considered advice not to do so,' Mr Holt added. 'At Walthamstow that day, rumours had spread that there was going to be a protest outside an immigration centre. 'During that event, he made a speech, amplified through a public address system, to the crowd. 'He called the other side disgusting Nazi fascists. He said that their throats needed to be slit. 'He drew his finger along his throat as he said that. 'This, in a setting where, we suggest, violence could readily have been anticipated. 'We ask rhetorically, what did Mr Jones think was going to happen?' In the days before the protest, the councillor had been warned to stay away by his party. A letter sent to him said: 'With heightened tensions in many areas of the country due to the threat of further violent disorder, we wanted to remind all Labour party councillors to follow the clear advice issued by the police which is not to take part in, attend or encourage others to attend, any sort of demonstration or counter demonstration.' Jones, of Dartford, who denies one count of encouraging violent disorder, told police he was 'sorry' he made the comments 'in the heat of the moment', and had not intended for them to be 'taken literally', Mr Holt said. The councillor also told police he was upset having been sent pictures of National Front stickers that had been left on a train, which had razor blades hidden behind them. Jones, who has been a borough councillor in Dartford, Kent, since 2019, was suspended by the Labour Party the day after the alleged incident. The trial continues.

Missing Oklahoma 2-year-old sold to meth dealer by mom, who had abused her with paddle and BB gun: report

A 2-year-old missing Oklahoma girl allegedly suffered a nightmare of abuse at the hands of her parents, who shot her with a BB gun, beat her with a paddle that had 'The Last Resort' written on it and finally sold her to a meth dealer, according to local reports. Ashley Ceejay Rowland, 39, and her boyfriend Joshua Denton, 40, were arrested on Aug. 5 in connection to the abuse against their poor tot London Kerr, who was last seen in the arms of the mother's methamphetamine dealer in 2022, according to The Oklahoman. Rowland confessed to police that she gave the poor child to a man identified as 'Carlos' in exchange for drugs, the report stated. That man claimed that he was going to travel to Mexico with the child. Before abandoning London, Rowland and Denton exacted cruel and vicious physical punishment on the toddler. 4 London Kerr was last seen in the arms of the mother's methamphetamine dealer in 2022. KFOR Teenage children of Rowland said she and her boyfriend would shoot the baby with BB guns, strike her with a wooden paddle, and lock her in a closet, the report stated, citing a criminal affidavit. While searching the couple's house, police discovered a wooden paddle with the phrase 'The Last Resort' written on it, the report stated. Denton's two teenage daughters said their dad force fed London a hot pepper and poured hot sauce in the child's eyes on more than one occasion, according to that affidavit. One of the sick-o's two teenage girls told investigators that Denton had previously sexually abused her, according to the report. Authorities are renewing their search for London and hoping to find the child, who would be turning 6-years-old in September. 4 Ashley Ceejay Rowland, 39, was arrested in connection to the abuse against London Kerr. KFOR 'Time is of the essence, still hoping for a positive turnout in this case, and we don't have a lot to go off of right now, which makes it extremely difficult,' Oklahoma City police Sgt. Dillon Quirk told local KOCO-TV. Rowland told cops that when she handed London to the meth dealer, the child had no sort of identifying paperwork, the report stated.. Officials first realized the child was missing during a failed Department of Human Services pickup order in April 2023, The Oklahoman reported. 4 Rowland's boyfriend Joshua Denton was also arrested. KFOR 4 Officials first realized the child was missing in 2023. The Oklahoman Denton faces nine felony charges including six felony counts of child abuse, one count of forcible sodomy, and one count of lewd or indecent acts to a child. Rowland has been charged with one count of enabling child abuse and faces previous charges of abandonment of child which were filed in Oklahoma County District Court last year.
