Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes expresses excitement for Thanksgiving game vs. Cowboys
The Kansas City Chiefs' Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys will also serve as Patrick Mahomes' homecoming, as the Texas native can play in front of his family and friends.
"It's going to be special. I've wanted to play at the Cowboys stadium, obviously just because I haven't had the opportunity to actually play in the game," said Mahomes during Thursday's press conference, "My first year we were there, I was at the game, but I didn't get to play. I'm growing up watching those games, going to those games – it was a special experience for me and my family, so I'm excited to get everybody there. Then, to play on Thanksgiving, if you're in Thanksgiving in Texas, you're watching the Cowboys play, and so it'll be a special moment. I know those ticket prices went up a little bit for me, but other than that, it's going to be cool to play on Thanksgiving, have the primetime, have that 3 o'clock kick, and be able to go out there and play in front of hopefully a lot of my friends and family."
Mahomes was a rookie in the Chiefs' 2017 game in Dallas and spent the day on the sidelines as Alex Smith's backup that year. This will also be the two-time MVP's first Thanksgiving game and will have an extra layer of special meaning this year.
"I haven't been to a Thanksgiving game, but I obviously went to a lot of games growing up." said Mahomes, "I played there when I was in college, so it'll be exciting, and my son's birthday is the day after so hopefully we can find a way to win and then get to celebrate my son's birthday after that."
CBS Sports' Jim Nantz believes the holiday showdown will break television records as fans see Mahomes lead the battle for the 'America's Team' nickname.

On Saturday, May 31, the 35-year-old Chiefs tight end made an appearance at the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, Mo., alongside celebrities who have roots in the Midwestern city — including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, his brother Jason Kelce, Paul Rudd, Heidi Gardner, Rob Riggle, Jason Sudeikis and Eric Stonestreet. At Saturday's event — a comedy show held at the city's T-Mobile Center to raise funds for patients at Children's Mercy Hospital — the Super Bowl champ was filmed goofing around and posing for pictures with Mahomes, his brother and other stars as he wore a black Palm Angels tracksuit and a matching black trucker hat. Other clips circulating on social media showed Kelce walking into the cheering audience to catch a stray football, taking the stage to lift Rudd up in the air and cheering on Jason, 37, as he made a surprise cameo and snapped a ball to Mahomes. Jason, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, retired from the NFL in March 2024. The Kansas City Star reported that the event, now in its 16th year, raised more than $4.5 million for the children's hospital. Jets' Justin Fields Reveals 'No Limits' Expectation

Jets' Justin Fields Reveals 'No Limits' Expectation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 season is Justin Fields' time. The New York Jets took a chance on the former first-round pick to become the leading man of Aaron Glenn's new regime, and it is seen as a win-win for both player and franchise. Advertisement Fields gets a chance to prove he is starting-caliber, and the Jets, while signing him to a two-year deal, can move on from him after the 2025 season relatively unscathed. Still, for Fields, the upcoming season is a crucial one in his attempt to change the narrative surrounding him after four years in the league. Given that we still don't know exactly what kind of player Justin is after glimpses of his talent and nothing more, he could be seen as an unknown commodity of sorts. But he knows who he can be. 'I think I can be a player that has no limits,' Fields said. 'A player that can make everybody around him better, can lead a team, can be that guy. So I'm just striving to be that player each and every day, and really for everybody to know that I'm that player. Advertisement "I think I know within myself I'm that player or I can get to that point but it's more for me just showing everybody else and proving not only to myself but proving to the world that you look at guys like Pat [Mahomes], Josh Allen, Lamar [Jackson] where everybody knows they're elite quarterback. At the end of the day, that's my goal and where I want to get to by the time I get done playing.' Justin Fields (2) rushes for a Tannous/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images For Fields, his biggest thing is proving he is "that" guy, and it isn't an easy thing to do. In what will be his third team in three years, Fields has been handed the starting title for Tanner Engstrand's offense, giving him a clear runway for 2025. Advertisement However, achieving the elite status he craves will be a long and hard road. However, Fields seems confident he can, and who are we to say he can't? Yes, the first four years of his career have shown him to be inconsistent, but that doesn't mean it's now set in stone for the rest of his NFL life. Fields has a chance to show the world he is the guy he believes he is. The door of opportunity has swung open. Now he has to walk through it. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce Aid $4.5 Million Move Amid Offseason

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce Aid $4.5 Million Move Amid Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have wreaked havoc on the field side-by-side for the past several seasons as Kansas City Chiefs. Advertisement The two have helped bring three Super Bowl titles to Kansas City along with five AFC championships. After their latest trip to the Super Bowl, which resulted in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Mahomes and Kelce made some interesting moves off the field. Kansas City's stars recently attended the "Big Slick," a charity event for Children's Mercy Hospital. Donors participated in a silent auction, bidding on over 50 items and experiences, such as stunt driving school with "Jackass" movie star Johnny Knoxville and a self-care day with "Saturday Night Live" star Heidi Gardner. At the conclusion of the event, it was revealed that Mahomes and Kelce helped raise just over $4.5 million in aid of Children's Mercy, per Joseph Hernandez. The "Big Slick" charity event in Kansas City first began in 2010, hosted by movie stars Rob Riggle, Jason Sudeikis and Paul Rudd. Advertisement "Every dollar raised goes directly to Children's Mercy to advance Big Slick's goal of eradicating pediatric cancer," posted by the official site of the "Big Slick," revealing the foundation's mission statement.
