Behind the glitz and the glam, our K-pop idols are just human beings with thoughts and feelings like all of us. The constant limelight on artists does not permit them to showcase too much of their personal lives for their protection. However, we do catch glimpses of them as they reminisce about their pre-debut days.
In an interview posted yesterday (2nd July 2025), Jackson Wang (王嘉爾/왕잭슨) opens up about details about his personal life, including his first heartbreak and journey as a K-pop idol. Shockingly, he admitted that his former girlfriend had left him because she had fallen in love with another boy.
When the topic of heartbreak came up during the interview, Jackson recalled his first encounter when he was in Grade 6 or 7 (around 11-13 years old), as he describes the feeling of holding a girl's hand, to the feeling of being on a rollercoaster. 'I cried more than the rain', he added when his then-girlfriend called a few days later to break up with him since she was in love with a boy named John.
Apart from his early love life, the 31-year-old idol also opened up about his finances and what was the most expensive thing he bought, in which he reveals that it's not an item, but he lent money to a friend. Jackson revealed that a friend had asked for financial assistance to help out with family matters, but had disappeared with it instead. 'It was 30/40 % of my income,' he hinted at the amount.
The GOT7 member also talked about his parents, recalling memories of when his mother had to work multiple jobs in a day. He admitted that he is a 'mama's boy', adding that, 'We always live under their wing, but now I feel that our wings have the capacity to work. So I always want to protect them'. Currently, Jackson is living with his parents in his residence in Shanghai.

Rural Sabah students embrace multimedia studies as promising career path

KOTA KINABALU (July 3): Many students in rural Sabah are showing a strong interest in multimedia studies, recognising it as a niche field with relatively low competition and high creative potential. According to Geomatika College Keningau Business Development Manager, Roger Romeo, multimedia may not be a mainstream career choice like medicine, engineering or teaching, and is often not the first option encouraged by parents. However, once students understand the opportunities it offers, many are able to gain financial independence and choose between employment or entrepreneurship. 'Multimedia is a very promising field,' Roger said. 'Many of our alumni are involved in filming weddings and cultural events like Kaamatan, which provide good returns.' He added that some graduates have found work as cameramen, thanks to their skills in setting up and managing production shoots. Roger made the remarks following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Geomatika College Keningau and the Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival (KKIFF) on Thursday. He noted that multimedia courses are particularly popular among rural youth, who are given hands-on experience in scriptwriting, video editing and film production. 'They write, edit and upload their own content to YouTube. So far, our alumni and students have produced five to six short films,' he said. Through the MoU, selected students will gain valuable exposure by learning from seasoned filmmakers participating in the 16th KKIFF, scheduled to run from August 2 to 10, 2025. A total of 22 films — both features and shorts — from 11 countries will be screened during the festival's CINEBALU programme at City Mall. 'With collaborations like this, we can guide students on their next steps and broaden their horizons,' Roger said. KKIFF Festival Director Jude Day also highlighted the enthusiastic response to this year's festival programmes. 'We're able to present a wonderful variety of films in our CINEBALU screenings,' she said. 'The films explore diverse themes such as abandoned children, undocumented individuals, family dynamics, cultural identity, and the struggles of choosing between family and career, or staying versus leaving one's home and country.'

(Video) 'It Was Pretty Painful': BLACKPINK LISA Explains Shocking Ear Injury

BLACKPINK's LISA (리사) is known for her picturesque lifestyle of being a full-on travel nomad and a sensational K-pop idol. From starring on Netflix shows to travelling the continents, the world is her oyster, but that doesn't mean accidents can't happen to this rockstar. Other than the digicam aesthetic photos, LISA shared a video of her bleeding eardrums while on a trip to Japan, which garnered worried comments from netizens. Yesterday (2nd July 2025), during a live stream on the fan communication app Bubble, LISA came out to reassure fans that the injury has been taken care of and that she is doing fine. During a cooking live stream, LISA responded to fans' concerns about the condition of her ear, saying, 'Yeah, it was just an accident. But it was pretty painful, and I went to see a doctor. Everything is fine now.' The idol did not reveal the cause of the injury but reassured fans that there was no need to worry, as she had already sought medical attention. Netizens have come out to wish the star a speedy recovery with notes of taking a long rest in order to recover. Twitter user @arya88888 commented, 'The doctor said everything is normal, but that doesn't mean you should start doing mischief again. You should rest for a few days and then start working again'. Other comments asked the 27-year-old rapper to be more careful in the future in preparation for her group's world tour. We're glad that Lisa is doing fine now, but what do you think caused LISA's ear canal to bleed? Good music?
