Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has revealed all on Maria Connor's reaction to finding out the truth about Gary Windass' (Mikey North) disappearance.
Gary disappeared without a trace following a row with Maria, who wasn't pleased about his growing connection with relatively new neighbour Lou Michaelis (Farrell Hegarty).
When he didn't return home, Maria reckoned that it was simply due to their falling out. 'She's really upset that he's gone but it's not until he's been gone too long that she realises something is really wrong and is even more worried,' admitted series star Samia.
'Her emotions turn from being upset about the fact that they've fallen out to being worried about his safety.'
Samia credits Gary missing Liam's (Charlie Wrenshall) birthday as the catalyst in her on-screen alter-ego realising that something is afoot.
'She was obviously worried before where he was because he had been gone a long time and was ignoring her messages and phone calls and thought they would have sorted it out long before that,' said the actress, 'but as soon as he misses Liam's birthday she absolutely has a gut feeling that something isn't right and thinks something awful might have happened to him.'
Gary, as audiences know, was seen in the hospital in recent scenes. He's in a coma and fighting for his life.

In upcoming scenes, we'll see Maria reporting Gary as a missing person to Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who then learns about an unidentified patient.
He's sure that it isn't Gary, but it becomes clear that his attacker is going to extreme lengths to conceal their crime and cover their tracks. They're even pretending to be his next of kin.
Samia added: 'It's bittersweet for Maria [when she learns Gary isn't the coma patient] because she's of course glad Gary isn't in a coma, although little does she know he actually is, but at the same time she's worried even more now because her fear is he could be in a worse condition or even dead.' The actress said that, when Maria does find out that Gary is the coma patient, her mind is 'spiralling'.
'But she doesn't stop for a second to think who actually attacked him and put him in a coma, she's aware Gary has got a lot of enemies from over the years who could have potentially wanted to take revenge on him.'

Addressing the question, Lucy wrote in her response: "I know this was meant as a negative message but actually I think it's really important to talk about. Soap chaos as EastEnders pulled from BBC One all week, while Emmerdale and Coronation Street are cancelled in ITV schedule shake-up
Soaps have been left in chaos this week as EastEnders is ousted from BBC One, while Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been cancelled by ITV. BBC bosses have cleared the schedule as they dedicate live coverage to this year's Wimbledon Championship. From 7pm on BBC One, live coverage will kick off, running all the way up to the News At 10 before normal programming resumes. As a result, EastEnders has been forced to air over on BBC Two for the entire week. The Walford-based soap typically airs at 7:30pm on BBC One from Monday to Thursday, with the episode also dropping on iPlayer from 6am on the morning of its broadcast. Fans will be able to catch the latest scenes from Walford at the normal time, just on the next channel. The soap disruption continues over on ITV with their rivals Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Fans' usual Friday visit to the Yorkshire Dales and the Weatherfield cobbles has been axed for the football. Coverage of the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 is set to kick off from 4:15pm and expected to run up to 10:20pm. Normal programming will then resume, with the late night news bulletin followed by the weather. It's unclear when ITV will air the axed Friday episodes of Emmerdale and Corrie. Meanwhile, on Sunday ITV announced both their soaps will now be available to stream on YouTube. The changes come into effect from Monday, June 30, meaning both tonight's Emmerdale and Coronation Street episodes are available now on the video platform. Announcing the move, a spokesperson for both soaps told fans on social media: 'Soap fans, rejoice! 'Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am - the same day they air on TV!' Fans welcomed the move, including international viewers who have previously struggled tuning into the ITV soaps. The move comes after it was revealed earlier this year how ITV bosses are slashing their soaps' episode count. Emmerdale currently airs six episodes weekly, Monday to Friday with a double bill on Thursdays. Meanwhile, Coronation Street also airs six episodes per week, with two episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Next year, only five 30-minute episodes of each show will air - a real terms cut to soap broadcast time of 17%.
