Alison Hammond hails this 'hydrating' and 'plumping' primer that costs under £11
Beauty fans will agree that's there's not much worse than perfecting a makeup look, just for it not to last throughout the day. That's why a primer can be the star of a skincare routine.
One that has earned a bit of a cult reputation recently is Maybelline's Grippy Serum Makeup Primer that is said to provide grip for "up to 24 hours". It's so popular that Alison Hammond recently sung its praises.
The host of This Morning recently collaborated with the high street brand, wearing the primer to highlight how it remains "plumping" and "hydrating" in multiple scenarios such as at the gym, out clubbing and more.
What's more, is that the high street beauty buy is seriously affordable, with a 30ml costing just £10.80 on Amazon, while Superdrug and Boots offer it for £10.99.
Unlike other primers on the market, Maybelline's uses a serum-like dropper to provide an "ultra blendable" formula and a serum-to-grip technology that works within 20 seconds of application.

Product Description
Formulated with two percent niacinamide, it grips to your makeup, offering a long-lasting look that is said to never feel cakey or heavy on the skin thanks to the "24 hours worth of hydration."
Maybelline isn't the only brand to offer a long-lasting grip, as NYX's The Face Glue, which is on offer at Lookfantastic for £7.19, is also said to offer "24 hours worth of hydration and wear."
It's not just high street brands, as many luxury beauty fans have also raved over the £40 Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow that has been designed to leave the skin looking "radiant" and "dewy."
Meanwhile, it's not just Alison that is a fan of the Maybelline Serum Primer, as it has amassed a 4.7 rating based on hundreds of reviews on the makeup brand's website, with reviews saying it makes their skin look "glowy" and "flawless."

One five-star review read: "This is an amazing primer and makes you make look flawless and doesn't feel greasy at all. I really recommend this primer if you are looking for one that is not greasy and light weight on the face. So good!"
Someone else remarked on its holding power by saying: "This is no joke when it says grippy it means grippy. This product not only grippy but it helps your makeup stay on 24/hrs."
While another beauty buff wrote: "Love it!! Foundation sticks perfectly without looking cakey or patchy. Also it lasted pretty well and helped my skin look more glowy. It comes in a glass container and for the price you can't beat it!"
Beauty deal of the week
Perfume fans will be keen to hear about a deal we have just spotted at Boots.
Those looking for something "timeless" and "distinctive" might already have Givenchy's Amarige Eau de Toilette on their radar. A favourite since the early 90s, it's got a bit of a cult reputation.
Even better, Boots has just dropped the cost of a large 100ml from £109 to just £54.50, allowing shoppers to save an impressive 50 percent off a beloved perfume.
Its scent makes up a "beautiful bouquet of white flowers", with top notes of tangerine, violet and rosewood being mixed with heart notes of gardenia, mimosa, red fruits and ylang-ylang.
The scent then finishes on "vibrant yet muted" base notes of ambergris, precious woods, musks and vanilla. The bottle, which was designed by perfume legend Pierre Dinand, takes inspiration from the ruffles sleeves of a Bettina Blouse designed by Givenchy.
One shopper who is a devoted fan wrote: "One five-star review read: "I bought this on offer at Boots, it was around £30 cheaper than anywhere else! It has an amazing timeless distinctive scent must be tried!"
A second loyal fan said: "The best perfume of all times! So classy! I'm glad it is back for it has been my signature perfume for more than a decade. Intense. Long lasting. Amazing. Complements galore!"

Some users have reported noticing a "sticky" or "tacky" residue being left on the skin, with one three-star review reading: "This primer grips extremely well but I feel like it leaves that sticky residue. Also creates texture on my face which I don't usually get with any other primers/without. For eye lid primer this would be great."
Although, others have preferred the formula as it helps their makeup to last, as one said in response: "This is hands down the best drugstore primer I have ever used. I am typically not a fan of this sticky consistency but I can't say enough good things about it. It absorbs so well and makes my makeup stay twice as long. So good!!"
And another fan of the primer wrote: "Lightweight texture, sinks in quickly and makes makeup smooth on seamlessly. It doesn't pill, it's hydrating but not thick or sticky. I like how it also benefits the skin, it contains niacinamide so is hydrating and adds a layer of protection between the skin and makeup."

ITV production staff hit out at 'rubbish' household names escaping jobs amid bloodbath
Richard Madeley is among names remaining in roles on ITV programmes, like Good Morning Britain, despite a huge cull this summer - a bloodbath which will see more than 200 off-screen roles cut Backroom staff at ITV are reportedly "furious" to see "the little people get the boot" in favour of "the big names" amid the broadcaster's bloodbath. ITV is making huge changes to its daytime programming, and is axing more than 200 off-screen roles as a result. Good Morning Britain is merging with ITV News, but all of their top presenters – who include Susanna Reid, Richard Madeley, Julie Etchingham and Tom Bradby – will remain in post for now at least, it is said. Madeley, 69, penned a short-term deal to remain in his position for six more months at least. It is understood Kate Garraway is safe – as is presenter Adil Ray, who looked set to be axed. Instead, insiders say his shifts will be cut. Yet, ITV was brutal to axe Noel Edmonds' big TV comeback after just one series despite its huge launch. And the daytime cuts primarily affect tireless production staff, who work off screen. The consultation period, which will determine who will be the victims of these brutal financial cuts, has been underway for some months and employees are said to be angry with the situation. One insider told Mail Online: "All the big names are staying while the little people get the boot. It is horrendous. You'd think if you wanted to save a big lump of cash you could get rid of some of the presenters. There are loads of them. But no, instead they've all been told they are safe." For now, everyone on Good Morning Britain and ITV News will continue their separate shows. This Morning's presenters will also stay in situ. In response to this, he insider added: "The cuts will fall to those who earn pennies in comparison. When this was all announced, we thought some of the stars would go – and rightfully so. Some of them are rubbish. Rather than there being three or four backstage workers doing a certain job, there will be one – but there will still be loads of presenters." ITV has always said it has to slash costs. Some onscreen journalists are also facing the axe in a bid to balance the books, but it is thought none of the mainstay hosts are affected. One presenter told Mail Online: "It's awful to see, awful. These people work so hard and they've still lost their jobs. And where are they going to go?... The industry is getting smaller and smaller for production staff." Loose Women and Lorraine have also been decimated by the cuts, with presenters on the former facing the prospect of only being aired for 30 weeks a year. Lorraine, too, is going from 52 weeks a year to 30, as well as being cut back from an hour to just half an hour in transmission time.

'All the big names are staying while the little people get the boot': Insiders tell KATIE HIND what 'furious' ITV production staff REALLY think of the 'rubbish' household names who are escaping jobs bloodbath
This time of year is usually an upbeat one at ITV 's HQ. Staff normally prepare for the 'new term', and the return of big-name hosts following their summer holidays, with considerable excitement. Flagship shows like This Morning and Good Morning begin considering how to implement their traditional September relaunches – the 'freshening up' of sets, features and overall themes.

Timothée Chalamet snubs Kylie Jenner's birthday amid split rumours
Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet marked Kylie Jenner's 28th birthday with a cryptic Instagram post and it has sparked fresh speculation about their relationship. Fresh split rumours have been circulating regarding the relationship between Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner after the Hollywood actor snubbed her birthday. The famous Kardashian was celebrating her 28th birthday with a glam party and family but Timothée was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the 29-year-old posted a picture from a historic boxing match showing Muhammad Ali celebrating victory, overlaid with the words 'Dream Big' in red, handwritten-style lettering instead of wishing his girlfriend a happy birthday. The American-French actors cryptic post has now added fuel to fire as fans fear that Kylie and Timothee have officially broken up, reports the Mirror. Timothée and Kylie were first linked in April 2023 after reports surfaced that they had been spending time together. They made their first public appearance as a couple in September that year at Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour in Los Angeles, where they were snapped kissing and laughing together in the VIP section. Since then, the couple have kept their relationship relatively low-key, occasionally being photographed on outings but avoiding public commentary about one another. Over the past month, fans have noted the absence of any new images of the pair together, with Kylie also posting a series of Instagram Stories featuring sad song lyrics which have further fuelled rumours of a split. The timing and content of Timothée's post on Kylie's birthday left many fans baffled as some believe the 'Dream Big' message may be a subtle reference to his upcoming film Marty Supreme, due for release on Christmas Day. While Timothée decided to publicly snub Kylie's birthday, her famous family marked her big day with their annual warm and emotional posts. Kylie's mum, Kris Jenner shared a carousel of throwback images of her youngest daughter as she wrote: 'Happy birthday to my baby girl!! You are truly beautiful inside and out… You are so smart, strong, creative, loving, kind, funny, and always so supportive… I love you beyond measure… Mommy.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Khloé Kardashian posted a montage of photos and a video of Kylie holding a cake at what appeared to be a Saturday night birthday gathering. Khloe, 41, captioned it: "Forever and then some, I love you to the moon and back. Happy birthday my girl… My soulmate sister… I love you beyond words, always and forever. With all my heart, Your second mommy, Khloé.' Kourtney Kardashian posted: "Tinker Bell! May you shine forever my little goose sister.' While Kim wrote: 'Kylie's day! Happy Birthday to the goat." The birthday girl also shared her own post, uploading childhood snaps including one where she sits proudly with her first bicycle, captioning it: 'happy birthday to meeee.'
