Family of Dublin e-scooter crash victim say 'his legacy lives on in his baby girl'
Jack Goss (21) from Poppintree in Ballymun, Dublin 9 was seriously injured on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15 following the horror collision on the Cappagh Road in Finglas, Dublin 11. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but sadly passed away on Monday, June 16.
In his death notice on RIP.ie it stated Jack is the 'beloved son of Michael and Helena and brother of Alex and Catherine, partner of Hannah and Daddy to Romee Rose. His heartbroken family said in Jack's death notice that "He brought to their lives so much love, kindness and joy."
"Jack's incredible spirit and big heart will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, loved ones and his community whom he loved. Jack's infectious spirit, fun and love touched so many. His legacy lives on in his precious baby girl and all who loved him."
Funeral arrangements are to be confirmed later on Wednesday evening. Mourners are being invited to make donations in lieu of flowers to the local Aisling Project in Poppintree and Ballymun who educate and provide life skills to young people. Meanwhile, tributes continue to be paid to Jack with one mourner writing in the condolence section on RIP.ie: "My heart broke to hear the awful news about Jack. He was so polite, kind and caring, an absolute credit to his parents, he will be sadly missed by so many,' while another wrote: "RIP Jack, grateful I knew you like I did," and another wrote: "A gentle giant with a heart of gold. We will forever cherish all our memories of you. Rest peacefully Jack."
Gardai continue to appeal for witnesses to the serious road traffic collision as investigations are ongoing. "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident involving an e-scooter shortly after 5pm on Sunday, June 15
"The male, aged in his 20s, travelling on the e-scooter who was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for serious injuries has since passed away. Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Cappagh Road area between Heathfield and Cappagh Hospital between 4.45pm and 5.05pm on Sunday and may have camera footage are asked to make it available," the statement said.
"Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667000, the Garda Confidential Lie at 1800 666 111 or any garda station."

Man (30) to face court charged with murder of Finglas father-of-four Mark Carroll
Derek Boyd was arrested earlier this week and will face several other charges A 30-year-old man is to appear in court again on Tuesday after he was charged with murder at a late-night special sitting of Dublin District Court. Derek Boyd, of Scribblestown Place, Finglas, is accused of the murder of Mark Carroll (34) at that location on June 9 last year. In January, an adjourned inquest into Mr Carroll's death was told that he had died from a stab wound. The incident happened at about 1am. The father of four from Finglas was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, but was pronounced dead a short time later. He was represented in court on Tuesday night by Aaron Sweeney of Phelim O'Neill Solicitors, and legal aid was granted. If Mr Boyd decides to apply for bail, he must make the application in the High Court. The defence is awaiting a book of evidence and further directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Carroll had been living in the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne, Co Meath, at the time of his death. At last January's brief inquest hearing at Dublin District Coroner's Court, the victim's father, Kevin Carroll, who lives in Co Monaghan, gave evidence of formally identifying his son's body to gardaí on the day after his son's death.

Indian man living in Ireland for 22 years viciously assaulted on his way to work
An Indian man who has lived in Ireland for over 20 years was the victim of a horrific attack in which he was assaulted and robbed on his way to work earlier this week. Laxman Das, a father of two and a sous chef at the Anantara The Marker hotel in Dublin, was travelling to work in the early hours of Wednesday morning on his e-bike when he was targeted by a gang of three males. After wrestling him off his bike at at Charlemont Place in south Dublin, the gang, in Mr Das' words, were "relentless" and started beating him, causing his helmet to break, reports Dublin Live. Mr Das, 51, who has lived in Ireland for 22 years and is an Irish citizen, told Dublin Live that his phone, cash and electric bike were stolen during the incident. He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital following the assault and was discharged at approximately 9pm on Wednesday evening, August 6. His legs, eye socket, shoulder and arm were injured in the incident. He is currently on sick leave as he recovers from the attack. It is the latest of a string of violent attacks against members of the Indian community in Dublin in recent weeks. Last week, Lakhvir Singh, who has lived in Ireland for more than 23 years and has been driving a taxi for over 10 years, was hit twice in the head with a bottle in Ballymun. In Tallaght last month, an Indian man who had recently moved to Ireland for work was severely beaten and suffered a number of slash injuries to his face. His trousers were also removed during the horrific assault. Man becomes second e-scooter driver to die on Irish roads this year
A man has become the second e-scooter driver to die on Irish roads so far this year. Late on Sunday night gardaí and emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle collision on the Old Navan Road in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. The collision involved a car and an e-scooter. A man in his 30s, who was the driver of the e-scooter, was taken to James Connolly Hospital. He was sadly later pronounced deceased. Gardaí say no other injuries were reported following the collision. The man becomes the second e-scooter driver to die on Irish roads so far this year. Last year, four people died following a collision involving an e-scooter. This includes 15-year-old Gilbert Collins and Avuzwa Idris, 17, who sadly lost their lives after an accident involving a bus in Waterford. Cyclists and e-scooter users are 11 times more likely to sustain severe and serious injuries in road traffic collisions than motorists, according to a report by the Injuries Resolution Board. It found that in 2023, €9.8m was paid out in personal injury claims to injured cyclists and e-scooter users. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the tragic accident on Sunday night in Blanchardstown to come forward. A spokesperson said: 'Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10:40pm and 11:00pm, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. 'Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.'
