Projected Economic Growth Of 4.5 % For Second Quarter Proves Of MADANI Govt's Reform Efforts
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the projection signals that the government's comprehensive, people-centred fiscal policies are beginning to yield tangible, positive outcomes.
"Despite increasingly challenging global pressures, steady domestic demand along with growing consumer and investor confidence reflect the effectiveness of the government's approach," he said in a statement today.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia recently announced that the national economy is projected to expand by 4.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2025 based on preliminary estimates, surpassing the increase of 4.4 per cent in the previous quarter.
According to Nga, the construction sector is reported to show robust performance with an expected growth rate of 11.0 per cent, driven primarily by non-residential and housing development projects.
Meanwhile, he said the services sector is expected to grow by 5.3 per cent, up from 5.0 per cent in the previous quarter, while the manufacturing sector recorded a growth of 3.8 per cent.
Nga said the overall growth expectation was driven by domestic demand, strengthened through various initiatives of the MADANI Government, including the implementation of the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA), Cash Rahmah Contribution (STR) and the increase in the minimum wage, which has helped increase the income and purchasing power of the people.
'However, the MADANI Government continues to be vigilant with external risks such as global trade tensions and the ongoing tariff war.
'The MADANI Government remains committed to ensuring inclusive economic growth and the well-being of all segments of the people is always guaranteed,' he said.

Malaysia's 13MP projects to face strict monitoring for timely completion
PUTRAJAYA: Every project under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) will undergo regular monitoring to prevent implementation delays, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy will jointly oversee progress, submitting reports twice a year. Shamsul Azri emphasised the importance of timely execution, stating, 'This time, we will really make sure that the 13MP is implemented as planned, because it spans a long period until 2030. 'All approved projects must be implemented promptly, because any delay will cause disappointment among the people.' He added that he would personally conduct site visits and surprise inspections. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted enhanced monitoring through the Policy Implementation Plan Monitoring System (PPD) during the 13MP tabling. Infrastructure projects, including flood mitigation and affordable housing, will be prioritised. A RM20 billion allocation will fund 103 flood mitigation projects, while one million affordable homes are targeted from 2026 to 2035. Shamsul Azri also commended the 12,000 participants of the MAPPA XX 2025 Run, promoting an active lifestyle. In a statement today, Istana Negara announced that His Majesty will make history as the first Malaysian Head of State to conduct a state visit to Russia since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1967. 'This visit also reflects the important role of the Malaysian monarchy in advancing the nation's diplomacy,' it said. Istana Negara added that the visit will not only strengthen existing bilateral relations but also open new avenues for cooperation in various fields, including trade, higher education, technology, innovation, and people-to-people ties. As ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia will also play a major role in enhancing strategic cooperation, particularly in the context of Russia's status as an ASEAN Dialogue Partner since 1996, it added. While in Moscow, Istana Negara said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim will be accorded a state welcome ceremony at the Kremlin by President Vladimir Putin, followed by an official meeting between the two Heads of State. 'His Majesty will also attend a state banquet hosted by the President of the Russian Federation,' Istana Negara said. His Majesty is then scheduled to visit the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) as well as the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Hub. Legoland Malaysia eyes growth with JS-SEZ and tourism initiatives
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Legoland Malaysia is positioning itself to benefit from growing cross-border activity within the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) alongside increasing tourism initiatives ahead of the Visit Johor Year 2026 (VJY 2026) campaign. Legoland Malaysia Resort vice-president Cs Lim said the rising prominence of the JS-SEZ as an economic gateway between Johor and Singapore presents Legoland Malaysia with new growth opportunities to attract more tourists in the coming years. 'If this initiative grows and more companies set up or relocate here, it will naturally bring more people to the area. 'When that happens, we can expect more visitors coming to explore the surroundings, including Legoland Malaysia,' he told Bernama after officiating the new Miniland Singapore here on Friday.
