It was the first time in Major League Baseball history that the reigning MVPs from both leagues homered in the first inning of the same game. Judge struck first in the top of that inning with a dinger into center field that opened up the scoring. Judge won his second American League MVP in three years last season with 144 RBIs and 58 home runs, both of which led all of MLB.
