Scotland man Angus Gunn understands Rangers' pursuit of Russell Martin
Gunn, who is training with the Scotland squad at Lesser Hampden this week ahead of the national team's friendly internationalist against Iceland at Hampden on Friday evening and Liechtenstein on Monday night, can understand why the Govan outfit's new hierarchy are interested in bringing him in.

'I only worked with him as a player at Norwich,' he said. 'He's a very intellectual guy. I went in there as a young goalkeeper and he helped me massively, even though he wasn't in the team every week and playing regularly.
'He was the captain of the club and he had good relationships with everyone in the dressing room. Obviously, watching what he's done at Southampton, I thought he'd done incredibly well there.
'He probably was unfortunate to lose his job there because it's always difficult for teams coming up from the Championship to even compete with some of the Premier League teams.

'I watch him now on the TV and can see the way he wants to play and his philosophy. I really hope whatever he goes on to in his career is successful.
'I don't know if he's going to go to Rangers or not, but obviously he had a spell there as well, so he kind of knows the club a little bit. I think it would be a really good thing for the Rangers, to be fair.'

Gunn, who is set to win his 16th cap for his adopted homeland against Iceland, knew early on that Martin, who played 29 times for the country of his father's birth in the 2010s, was destined to become a manager when he started playing with him at Norwich.
'There were a few other players in that dressing room who were like that,' he said. 'Steven Naismith was there as well. But you can definitely tell on the pitch when you're playing with players. They kind of start coaching whilst they're still playing, if you like, sort of organising on the pitch.
'He was one of them. But Russell wasn't just on the pitch, he was off the pitch as well, where he had close relationships with everyone. Even though, like I said, he wasn't a regular playing in the team, he was always on hand and always upbeat and a good person to go to.'

Rangers fans shocked to discover who Russell Martin's VERY recognisable girlfriend is - as new boss signs three-year deal at Ibrox
Rangers fans have expressed shock after finding out who Russell Martin's former topless model girlfriend Lucy Pinder is. The former Scotland international defender signed a three-year contract at Ibrox just a week after a US-based consortium completed a takeover of the Glaswegian club. The 39-year-old had a short stint at Rangers as a player in 2018 and moves to Scotland for his first job after being sacked by Southampton in December with the club languishing in the Premier League 's bottom spot. Martin led the Saints to Championship promotion the previous season and enjoyed succesful spells at Swansea and MK Dons. The Rangers ownership labelled him the 'standout choice' to take charge after a long recruitment process to replace Philippe Clement - with former captain Barry Ferguson leading the team since February. Amid the initial fanfare over his appointment, some Rangers supporters took to social media to share their surprise after discovering who his partner is. 'How the f*** am I just now discovering Lucy Pinder,' one wrote on X. 'I still live in Scotland and I don't have a clue who she is,' another added. But others were fully aware of the former glamour model. 'Where have you been,' one fan replied to the tweet. 'Your having a laugh aren't you mate,' another replied. Pinder, 41, was at the height of her fame in the mid-2000s during the era of lads' mags such as FHM, Nuts and Loaded. She appeared topless in Nuts Magazine was ranked on FHM's '100 Sexiest Women in the World'. She also featured on Soccer AM, albeit fully clothed, and later entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2009. One Rangers fan took to social media to express his shock at finding out who Lucy Pinder was Pinder was discovered as a model on Bournemouth beach in 2003, at the age of 19, when she was working as a secretary. She is a life-long Southampton supporter, but will be cheering on her husband from Ibrox rather than St Mary's next season. Martin and Pinder went public with their relationship in August last year as she shared a picture of them together in Brighton, where Martin was receiving an honorary degree. Martin's relationship with Pinder follows the breakdown of his marriage to Jasmine, with whom he shares three children and who he previously hailed as a 'supermum'.

Joe Aribo makes transfer decision as Russell Martin holds 'trust' card amid Rangers return clamour
The playmaker endured a tough campaign with Southampton and suffered another Premier League relegation Southampton playmaker Joe Aribo has reportedly told the club he wants to leave this summer. And Russell Martin 's arrival at Rangers has left fans dreaming of a return to the Scottish Premiership for the Nigerian international. Aribo is facing the prospect of playing Championship football next term after the Saints finished rock bottom of the Premier League - leading to his second relegation since leaving Ibrox behind in 2022. The 28-year-old has remained a fan favourite with the Light Blues' faithful having wrote his name in Rangers history by netting in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. And it appears that a move away from St Mary's is on the cards after struggling for regular game time following Martin's sacking in the midst of a dismal English top flight campaign last term. Following the departure of the now-Gers' boss Martin, Aribo would manage just 10 appearances under Ivan Juric and Simon Rusk - barely making the matchday squad in the later stages of the campaign. The Daily Mail reported following the end of the campaign that the playmaker had made it clear to the club that he "wanted" an exit after dropping out of the top flight with just a year remaining on his contract. And Turkish outlet Fotomac now claim that the player has told his agent to find him a new club with Trabzonspor "asking" about the potential of a deal. And that could alert Martin as he looks to overhaul the squad this summer - who has made no secret of his admiration for Aribo. Speaking during their promotion-winning Championship campaign on midfielder, he said: "He's been a brilliant teammate, an amazing character as you know. He's humble, works hard, smiling. "I've not seen many players or teammates that are as popular as him, even when you're not playing, which is like the biggest credit to him, really." He has also noted how he fits his footballing philosophy perfectly, stating during his time with the Southampton: 'You trust him to go and put a certain level of performance on the pitch and to want the ball, to run for his teammates. "He's a brilliant teammate and I think he's someone that you trust.' A return would test Aribo's career mantra - having previously insisted he likes to take himself out of his "comfort zone". After his move away from Glasgow, he said: "I think for me, what's so important is the timing of everything. "I had some offers down south but I chose to go away from home, come out of my comfort zone - which is so important for your own growth personally. "So for me, life is about little steps to get to your goal and that's why I made the choice to go up there. And then why I came back to Southampton." A move back to Ibrox and a Russell Martin reunion could prove tempting - but could Aribo look to test himself elsewhere first?
