Zohran Mamdani Torches Cuomo With 1 Brutal Zinger: 'I Don't Need To Do Much'

New York City's Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani doubled down Thursday after releasing a viral campaign video highlighting a link between his opponent, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Mamdani pounced on the subject during a press conference in the Bronx, where he was asked if the video was intended to make Cuomo appear unlikable by pairing him with someone as disgraced as Epstein, an accused sex trafficker. 'I don't need to do much to make the governor appear extremely dislikable,' Mamdani said. 'The intent of that video was to shine a light on what journalists have uncovered over many months, which is the fact of what the former governor did after resigning in disgrace.' Related: 'We know that which has been reported, and yet we also know that there is likely more,' he continued. 'Because, as is the case with Andrew Cuomo, when you think you found out about all of his scandals — there seems to always be another one.' Cuomo slammed Mamdani last week for campaigning on more affordable housing in New York City while living in a rent-controlled apartment, only for Mamdani to share clippings from major media outlets who covered Cuomo's most recent scandals. Related: 'Finally in June, the New York Times covered that Cuomo had worked with his longtime friend Andrew Farkas on a luxury marina project in Puerto Rico,' Mamdani said in the video. 'Farka's previous partner on luxury marinas in the Caribbean? Jeffrey Epstein.' The paper reported at the time that Cuomo declined to share information about the clients and companies who paid him as a consultant after resigning in 2021, but noted the marina project and two other deals had already come to light — as Mamdani noted in his video. Mamdani on Cuomo: "I don't need to do much to make the governor appear extremely dislikable." — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) August 14, 2025 'Cuomo advised a cryptocurrency exchange based in the Seychelles as it faced federal investigations,' he said in the clip. 'Then in May, Politico reported that Cuomo failed to disclose $2.6 million in stock options to the New York City Conflicts of Interest board.' Cuomo spoke ahead of Mamdani on Thursday and said New York City faces 'serious difficulty' in fighting unemployment. Mamdani, who has slammed President Donald Trump for his potential involvement in the mayoral race, leapt on the comment Thursday. 'To hear from a former governor about the difficulties of attracting additional jobs without the recognition of what the Trump administration has done to make it so difficult ...' said Mamdani, citing Trump's tariffs and the current 'business climate' hampering local tourism. Related: 'We're seeing estimates of about a $4 billion loss compared to other years in this city,' he said. 'That is something that has massive ramifications for the ability for our city to continue functioning as it has, and yet I cannot recall the last time the former governor even brought that up.' 'Abusive' man who murdered partner before attempting to stage false scene convicted after police uncover lies

An 'abusive' man from west London who murdered his partner before attempting to stage a false scene has been convicted after police uncovered his lies. Rita Fleming, 70, was found by parademics unresponsive in a bath at her home in Maida Hill, Kensington on June 23, 2024 after being killed by Clifford Cowen, 59. She was fully dressed and covered in severe injuries, prompting the Metropolitan Police to launch an investigation. But Cowen claimed to have been concerned for Ms Fleming's welfare after looking through the letterbox of her property. He repeatedly insisted officers check CCTV footage to prove he had not been at the address, prompting police to arrest him at the scene. Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who led the Met's investigation, said it soon transpired he was a 'controlling and abusive partner' who attempted to portray the pair's relationship as a loving one. Scotland Yard later uncovered messages and voice notes indicating that Cowen would regularly get drunk and verbally abuse Fleming. We understand how isolated victims of domestic abuse can feel Alison Foxwell Cowen was charged with murder and found guilty following the conclusion of a four-week trial at the Old Bailey, taking a jury just six hours to reach their verdict. DCI Foxwell added: "He attempted to cover up his actions with an elaborate alibi, however officers were able to unpick this along with evidence of his controlling and manipulative behaviour. Rita was much loved by her family and friends and I hope that Cowen's conviction gives them an element of closure. "We understand how isolated victims of domestic abuse can feel. We encourage anyone to contact police and report so we can support alongside our specialist partner agencies." Cowen, of Kensington Park Gardens, will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on September 1.

US Naval Academy gets first Marine superintendent

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte became the first Marine Corps officer to be superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy in its 180-year history on Friday. Borgschulte was deputy commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs in Quantico, Virginia, before being nominated to be the 66th superintendent of the military academy in Annapolis. Borgschulte, who graduated from the academy in 1991, said he would safeguard its proud traditions while preparing future generations of officers for the challenges of an increasingly complex world. 'The academy exists not to pursue academic rankings or institutional accolades — yes, we have those — but to fulfill a sacred mission, and that's to develop the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps officers who will protect and defend the freedoms we as Americans so often take for granted,' Borgschulte said during a ceremony marking the change in command. John Phelan, the secretary of the Navy, called Borgshulte 'a decorated naval aviator and a veteran of three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan who's led sailors and marines at all levels.' 'He is someone who his fellow marines describe as a military hybrid of modern tactics and ancient attitudes,' Phelan continued, adding that he oversaw the highest recruitment and retention in Marine Corps history and will further cultivate 'a culture of winning and warfighting here at the academy.' 'Get ready, midshipmen. It's time to buckle your chinstraps,' Phelan said. This year the academy commissioned 776 Navy ensigns and 258 second lieutenants in the Marine Corps. Borgschulte replaces Vice Adm. Yvette Davids, who in January 2024 became the first woman to be superintendent. Davids is moving to the Pentagon to be deputy chief of naval operations for Operations, Plans, Strategy and Warfighting Development. Phelan said Davids fulfilled her role with distinction and she is the best person for the Pentagon post. 'Vice Adm. Davids' experience, operational record and strategic mind made her the natural fit for the job and will serve her and the Navy well in this future role,' Phelan said. Solve the daily Crossword
