Golden State Warriors eye new addition, but Jarrett Allen trade looms after Kevon Looney's departure
Jarrett Allen is in Cleveland Cavaliers (Image via Instagram / @_bigjayy_) The Golden State Warriors are expected to make their first major move of the offseason. The move came after the departure of veteran center Kevon Looney, who signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. With their frontcourt depth now a pressing concern, the Warriors are actively exploring options. The two big names they have shortlisted are Al Horford and Jarrett Allen. Golden State Warriors eye Al Horford and Jarrett Allen as frontcourt fixes after Kevon Looney's departure After losing Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Golden State Warriors may make their first big offseason trade. Jake Fischer of the Stein Line believes that by the end of the weekend, the organisation will have a solid chance of landing their top FA target. As per their official Facebook page, he wrote on Thursday: 'All signs, for the record, continue to point to Al Horford landing with Golden State … eventually.. Sunday will be the first day of the 2025-26 salary cap year that NBA teams can make most free agent signings and trades official.' Jarrett Allen might join Golden State Warriors (Image via Instagram / @_bigjayy_) On the other hand, Brandon Austin of PFSN claims that the team might take a bold stance this offseason. This is probably because Jarrett Allen showed up as a prime candidate for Steve Kerr's scheme. As per the Sporting News, stating his opinion, he also claimed on the same day: 'Adding (Jarrett) Allen could be a game-changing move for the Golden State Warriors, as it addresses their frontcourt issues while supporting their championship aspirations.' He further listed Jarrett Allen 's ability to score and provide interior protection as the main reasons he would succeed in San Francisco. The 6'9" centre gives the Golden State Warriors the presence they need to contend with the best teams in the NBA. He further added: 'Golden State often relied on the undersized Draymond Green to battle against bigger centers. As good a defender as Green is, he's into his mid-30s now, and banging with bigs all season long can take a toll on the body.. Allen's ability to anchor the paint would allow Green to shift back to power forward, maximizing his defensive versatility and playmaking.' In Year 8, J.A. excelled as a powerful rebounder, superb pick-and-roll finisher, reliable rim-runner, and adequate rim protector. The Texas product shot a career-high 70.6% from the field and averaged 13.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game. Brandon Austin's trade idea might gain traction quickly because the Golden State Warriors need a centre. They are also rumoured to be considering a sign-and-trade with Kuminga this summer.
