Is Che in ‘And Just Like That' Season 3? Sara Ramirez's Character's Fate After Dramatic Season 2
Miranda Hobbes experienced both love and heartbreak in the Sex and the City spinoff, And Just Like That…, and her relationship with Che Diaz certainly had its highs and lows. Is Sara Ramirez's character in season 3 of the show?
It was reported by multiple outlets in February 2024 that Sara's character was not returning for season 3 of And Just Like That… after two seasons on the show.
Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda, spoke out on Che's exit from the show one year ahead of the season 3 premiere in May 2025.
"I think for Miranda, Miranda and Che were really pretty done," Cynthia told Entertainment Weekly in May 2024. "I think that Miranda and Che had kind of run the gamut of what they were going to be to each other."
Cynthia echoed a similar stance while speaking with Variety that same month.
'I do feel like our show always works best when people are dating,' she said.
'They created such an amazing character — such a controversial character, but such an amazing character,' she said, referring to the character of Che. 'I think they felt, and Michael Patrick [King] felt, that that character had run its course. They came in and shook everything up, and then the arc was completed.'
The Emmy winner said that she understood that a lot of people were upset with the arc of Steve's character, Miranda's husband, whom she left and got back together with in the first Sex and the City film. In And Just Like That… their relationship came crumbling apart when Miranda met Che and began an affair.
While speaking with Grazia in May 2025, Cynthia said that the ''poor Steve' narrative doesn't really bother me. Our show always killed its darlings. If we're just gonna play it safe and nice, why are you watching?'
Cynthia revealed that she suggested Sara, who uses they/them pronouns, for the role of Che.
'I love Che, I love Sara. It's hard to know what people would have made of Che if Che hadn't ostensibly broken up Steve and Miranda,' she noted. 'But I don't want a show in which everybody is behaving well all the time. A feminist show doesn't show women being perfect.'
Miranda and Che ended up breaking up after their toxic romance hit its breaking point in season 2 of And Just Like That… Their romance was plagued by bickering and tension as Che's TV pilot ended up failing.
'I think for Che, there's an incremental ego death process that is occurring over time, with the failure of the pilot, with all of the projections that they internalized during that process, with all the questioning they've been doing,' Sara told TVLine in July 2023. 'I don't think they have the capacity to keep the wheels on the car any longer. They don't have the capacity to continue this fantasy of a bubble of love and friendship and affirmation.'
Cynthia revealed that in season 3, Miranda would be embracing her single era.
'Both the old show and the new show are more fun when people are dating, so Miranda will be dating,' she said.

TV's Nepo Babies: Meet the Kids of Celebrities Breaking Out on the Small Screen
Good genes aren't just a plus when it comes to skin care. They can be a big help when trying to break into Hollywood, too. For as long as there's been a Hollywood, we've seen the children of stars forge their own showbiz careers, from Liza Minnelli to Charlie Sheen. And right now on TV, nepo babies are having a moment, with the kids of famous folks popping up everywhere you look on broadcast, cable and streaming. Some, you might be able to guess — The White Lotus star Patrick Schwarzenegger is an easy call, for example — but others, you might not even know that their parents have illustrious performing careers of their own. Well, not until now. More from TVLine The White Lotus: Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood Reveal a Rick and Chelsea Sex Scene Was Cut From the Finale ('It Was So Powerful') Yes, George Clooney Has Seen The Pitt - Here's What the ER Vet Had to Say About Noah Wyle's New Medical Show The Pitt Season 1 to Air on TNT Ahead of Season 2 Premiere on HBO Max We here at TVLine are rounding up all the offspring of A-list stars we've spotted on the small screen in the past few years, clueing you in on who their famous parents are. (For the record, we left off obvious names who have long-established careers of their own, like Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, daughter of Jayne Mansfield, and Matlock's Jason Ritter, son of John Ritter.) Read on to get to know which emerging TV actors already have stars in their family tree, and hit the comments to let us know of any we might have missed. As the daughter of Oscar winners Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, Beatty is certainly familiar with high society, which came in handy while playing Truman Capote's young protégé Kerry O'Shea on FX's FEUD: Capote vs. the Swans last year. After early roles on Sugar and Pistol, Chandler is ready to break out as the star of FX's upcoming sci-fi spinoff Alien: Earth, debuting in August. And of course, TV fans know her father Kyle Chandler from his Emmy-winning role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights, along with roles on Bloodline and Early Edition. Collins has been charming audiences for four seasons now as the star of the Netflix rom-com Emily in Paris, while her father Phil Collins has been charming audiences for decades with chart-topping hits both with the band Genesis and as a solo artist. Med student Victoria Javadi isn't the only one with a family connection on Max's freshman medical drama. Taylor Dearden, who plays Mel, is the daughter of Breaking Bad Emmy winner Bryan Cranston. And that's not all: Fiona Dourif, who plays McKay, is the daughter of Deadwood alum Brad Dourif, and Isa Briones, who plays Santos, also has a famous dad in Broadway veteran Jon Jon Briones. The daughter of The X-Files' David Duchovny and Madam Secretary's Téa Leoni, West Duchovny broke out with a pair of TV roles in 2023, on the Netflix opioid drama Painkiller and the Hulu murder mystery Saint X. She writes jokes for comedy legend Deborah Vance on Max's Emmy-winning comedy Hacks, and she has a comedy legend in her own family tree. Einbinder's mother is Laraine Newman, an original Saturday Night Live cast member. Hall has been booking plenty of TV roles lately, from Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story to Bel-Air to The Sex Lives of College Girls. But he still has a way to go to catch up to his mom: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, of Seinfeld and Veep fame. (Hall's father is SNL alum Brad Hall.) Hawke is set to return as Robin in the final season of Netflix's Stranger Things later this year, and we already know she's carrying on a hefty Hollywood legacy. Her mom is Uma Thurman, known for Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill films, and her dad is Ethan Hawke, from Training Day and Reality Bites. Hewson plays rebellious sister Becka in Apple TV+'s dark comedy, and if you don't recognize her last name, it's because her dad only goes by one name: Hewson's father is U2 frontman Bono. One-third of SNL's Please Don't Destroy trio, Higgins already has a family member on the NBC payroll. His dad is Steve Higgins, an SNL writer who serves as Jimmy Fallon's sidekick on The Tonight Show. In addition, Please Don't Destroy's Martin Herlihy is the son of Tim Herlihy, a former SNL writer and Adam Sandler's frequent collaborator. Jacobson plays Marian Brook on HBO's sumptuous costume drama The Gilded Age, and her mom knows a thing or two about costume dramas — and all dramas, really. Jacobson's mother is the one and only Meryl Streep, and Jacobson's sisters are also in the biz: Grace Gummer had roles on Mr. Robot and The Newsroom, and Mamie Gummer was on Emily Owens, M.D. and The Good Wife. Following roles on High School and the acclaimed film Babygirl, McGregor is set to co-star in the Prime Video teen mystery We Were Liars, debuting later this month. One of her first TV credits, though, came on the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi… led by her father, Ewan McGregor. Nivola broke out earlier this year as awkward teen Lochlan on HBO's The White Lotus, and he knows something about living in a family with high expectations. His mom is Emily Mortimer, known for her roles on The Newsroom and 30 Rock, and his dad is Alessandro Nivola, with film credits including American Hustle, Face/Off and The Brutalist. She first grabbed our attention as Joel's ill-fated daughter Sarah on the HBO zombie thriller The Last of Us, and her mother is an HBO veteran as well. Parker's mom is Thandiwe Newton, who won an Emmy in 2018 for her role as Maeve on HBO's Westworld. Plus, Parker's dad is writer/director Ol Parker, with credits like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Phillippe, who debuted on Netflix's Never Have I Ever, moved onto a role on Prime Video's car drama Motorheads — starring alongside his famous dad, Ryan Phillippe. Oh, and his mom is Reese Witherspoon, no big deal. That smile (and those muscles) might look familiar… and the name definitely sounds familiar, too. Yes, Schwarzenegger — who played arrogant vacationer Saxon on HBO's The White Lotus — is the son of '80s action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his mom is former NBC newswoman Maria Shriver, too. When Quaid, best known for playing vigilante Hughie Campbell on Prime Video's The Boys, was just a boy himself, he had some very famous parents. He's the only child of film stars Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. Along with starring as Stephen DeMarco on Hulu's romantic drama Tell Me Lies, White has also appeared on shows like SEAL Team and The Middle. And his mom is still appearing on the small screen, too: White's mother is Katey Sagal, whose long TV résumé stretches from Married… With Children and Sons of Anarchy to the just-wrapped The Conners. Yes, Prime Video Has Added More Ads Lately — Like, a Lot More
You're not imagining things: It does take longer to watch a TV show on Prime Video these days. The ad load on Amazon's streaming service has essentially doubled in recent months, from two and a half to three minutes of commercials per hour to four to six minutes per hour, according to a report from AdWeek. More from TVLine Casting News: black-ish Star Joins Boston Blue, Carrie TV Series Adds 14 and More Steven Universe Sequel Series in Development at Prime Video Maxton Hall Gets Very Early Season 3 Renewal at Amazon - Watch Stars Share the News 'Prime Video ad load has gradually increased to four to six minutes per hour,' an Amazon representative admitted in an email to an ad buyer earlier this month. Amazon defended the move in a statement: 'While demand continues to grow, our commitment is to improving ad experiences rather than simply increasing the number of ads shown.' Prime Video was ad-free when it debuted in 2006 as an add-on to Amazon's Prime subscription service that offers free delivery of Amazon products for an annual fee. In January 2024, though, Prime Video introduced ads on all of its films and TV shows, asking subscribers to pay an additional $2.99 per month fee for an ad-free experience. (Other streamers like Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ all offer cheaper subscription tiers with ads as well.) 'This change will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time,' the streamer said in a message to subscribers at the time, adding: 'We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers.' Have you noticed the uptick in ads on Prime Video shows lately? Is it making you more likely to pay for no ads, or more likely to drop Prime Video altogether? Let us know in the comments! Bryce Dallas Howard has a sixth sense about movie flops: 'You can always see it coming'
It would take more than a box office flop to fluster Bryce Dallas Howard. The Deep Cover star recently admitted that, as an actor who has been part of some of Hollywood's biggest franchises, she's developed what's basically a sixth sense when it comes to projects that won't work out. "You can always see it coming while you're making it," Howard recently told the Independent about movie flops like Argylle and The Lady in the Water. "I've never been shocked when something doesn't work. But I'm just an actor — you're there to serve a director's vision. If a movie doesn't turn out the way that you envisioned, you can barely feel disappointed because it's not yours. You're not the person who's building the thing." The ability not to take said failures personally is a trait that Howard says her father, Ron Howard, struggles with. The Jurassic World star recalled seeing her father break down emotionally when his 1992 period drama Far and Away, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, bombed at the box office. Howard shared that Ron went to Clint Eastwood for advice on how to deal with such a creative low in his career. "He said, 'Ronnie — a career is like a season of television. You've got 24 episodes, some of the episodes are going to be bad, some are going to be serviceable, maybe a little forgettable, and maybe five of those episodes are going to be really strong and last,'" Howard remembered. Fans can only hope that Howard hasn't foreseen a box office fail for her latest film, Deep Cover. Directed by Tom Kingsley, the action comedy follows three improv comics, led by Howard's comedy teacher, Kat, who get recruited by Detective Sergeant DS Billings (played by Sean Bean) for a sting operation. One of those students is Orlando Bloom's Marlon, a method actor who wants to be an A-list star like Al Pacino but lacks the skills to back up those dreams. And joining Marlon and Kat on this mission is their friend Hugh, played by Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, who happens to be an old friend of Kingsley's in real life. Surprisingly, for a film about improv comics, there wasn't much improvising in the movie, except for Mohammed. Hugh and Marlon "are not brilliant at improv," Kingsley previously told Entertainment Weekly. It's up to Howard's struggling-comedian-turned-teacher to keep them from getting into trouble on their mission. "She's trying to support her students," Kingsley added. "She's torn between wanting to help them do a good job and also trying to keep them all alive." The director notes that Howard, the last of the three main characters to be cast, adds a certain Hollywood star power to the mostly British ensemble. Still, one of his favorite days on set involved another American star close to the cast who visited while they were shooting in a corner store in Hackney. "Hackney is not a particularly fancy area of London, and it was surreal having Bryce and Orlando in that location, but then Katy Perry chose that day to visit the set," he revealed. "Having these massive global superstars in this tiny, rundown shop was insane to me."Deep Cover will premiere on Prime Video on June 12. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
