Telethon Mega Bingo: Mum Tanya Ford takes home huge car prize after selling her vehicle to pay school fees
More than a quarter of a million dollars was raised for WA's sickest children as over 10,000 participants descended on the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre over two days this weekend for Australia's largest bingo call.
The stakes were high with more than $274,000 in cash prizes up for grabs across the weekend, including a single game with a whopping $37,500 prize.
Out of the 9481 tickets sold to win Sunday's GWM Haval Jolion, valued at $29,990 drive away, Tanya Ford had the winning numbers and she was in complete shock as 7NEWS sports commentator Adrian Barich called her to the stage.
She said her family had never owned a new car.
'My husband has been catching public transport to his job at the airport — we live in Kallaroo so it takes over an hour,' she said.
'This is absolutely incredible to get to come here today.
'We have a car now. I just can't believe it.'
She said she brought along a lucky golden owl that her friend had given her and 'obviously the lucky owl was on our side.'
Lucky charms were a theme among the winners on Sunday with Annabel Tunley taking home $37,500 after pulling a toy horse out of her purse, which a school student had given her.
The teacher and grant writer was jumping and screaming as the bingo caller confirmed she had the winning numbers.
'I actually didn't even know how to fill out a bingo card before I came here,' she said.
'I did actually feel quite lucky coming into today and those games before were getting me ready for the big win.
'Telethon is all about WA kids so I know seeing this room full of people really having fun and spending money has made me really think how important it is and how important this is for WA.'
For WA film director Jordon Prince-Wright, it was a full circle moment to be at the bingo event after Telethon helped him beat brain cancer as a child.
The director of WA's biggest feature film, Before Dawn, said he is now able to support the cause that is close to his heart.
'I had a brain tumour when I was three and spent my childhood in Princess Margaret Hospital. If it wasn't for Telethon that purchased the equipment that effectively saved my life, I wouldn't be here today,' he said.
'As much as my company can now support Telethon, it's fantastic.'
All proceeds from the weekend go towards Telethon to supporting life-changing programs, equipment and services for sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the State.
The 2025 Telethon Weekend will be held over October 18 and 19 at RAC Arena.

Like everyone else in the world I binge watched the entire season of Netflix's America's Sweethearts in half a day. It was hard not to be mesmerised by those women. Athletic wonders and they work regular jobs during the day to then knock off to hit the rehearsal studio for gruelling kick-line and split jump training at night (I'm sore just thinking about it). The AFLW kicked off on Thursday night and a more inspiring group of athletes you simply will not find. Like the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, many of them work nine to five's as lawyers, tradies, physios and teachers before lacing up the boots and belting out some of the toughest, most compelling and competitive football you'll see. Many of them, like Sydney Swan Lulu Pullar, are also using what little spare time they do have to give back to the community. A doctor, Pullar spent part of the off season working in the Alice Springs emergency department and quickly fell in love with the town and its footy mad residents. Realising opportunities for female footballers were slim in the Top End she resolved to do something to help - and built the Dreamtime Academy. Roping in Hawks stars Kaitlyn Ashmore and Emily Bates, Crows forward Elouise Jones, Brisbane powerhouses Ally Anderson and Courtney Hodder and Sydney Swans debutante Sarah Steele Park, Pullar this year facilitated a series of high-performance footy camps for Indigenous and non-Indigenous female players in Alice Springs. The girls weren't paid for their time and the trip wasn't arranged by the league or really publicised at all. They did it simply to pay forward all the joy and fulfilment they've received from the game. None of the women will tell you about all the wonderful things they're doing off field. Heck, they barely have the time. So, allow me. 7NEWS travelled with the players to capture the Dreamtime Academy in action so you can see for yourself the kind of mark they're leaving. If you're half as moved as I was, I implore you to pick a team and get behind them as they belt it out on the field this AFLW season. I won't demean them by calling them Australia's Sweethearts, they're far more than that. I reckon Australia's Heroes has a much nicer ring to it.

Content creator Izzy Armitage seemingly takes aim at ex-boyfriend and AFL superstar Bailey Smith
The ex-girlfriend of Bailey Smith has seemingly torn the AFL superstar apart with a stinging rant on her podcast. Content creator Izzy Armitage didn't use Smith's name, but suggested that the 24-year-old heart-throb cheated on while in Adelaide for a football game, and that he had put her 'through the f****** wringer 100 times over'. 7NEWS is not suggesting any of the accusations are true, merely this is what Armitage said on her podcast Hear Me Out. Armitage opening up on her past relationship comes just days after Smith's love life has been suddenly thrusted into the spotlight, following a close encounter with fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow on the Gold Coast . Witnesses claimed they saw Hembrow and Smith holding hands and kissing for hours, while another report said they were seen together again after Geelong defeated Essendon last Friday. Armitage said: 'Obviously I was previously tied to him and it is going to be something people are aware of and a lot of the time it's my search history. 'But I'm not out here regularly constantly making videos about this man. 'I spent a really long time trying to protect him in the sense of not being fully open on here about what he'd done to me. And how it all went down. Just because there is still that level of respect for someone you loved. When did I get any of that respect back even when we were together? 'The gloves are off. Game on.' She also said she had been told that Smith believed that she was using him for 'clout'. 'It's been a really long time and I just want people to know it's not (about) clout for me, it's more just this is my experience of what I went through and, honestly, I think it plays a huge part as to why I'm still single,'' she said. 'I could have probably just believed it at that moment in time, but I'm so in love at this point, I need more (time) to allow myself to believe this,'' she said. 'In hindsight never in my life growing up did I think I'd be in a relationship where I would potentially accept someone cheating on me until you're faced with it head on. 'It's a really scary moment for me that I wasn't as strong as I thought I was. '(My friends) didn't want to tell me or call me because they know I would freak out. '(I said to him), 'You f****** cheated on me,' (and) he's like, 'No I didn't'. 'It ends up being a 'me' problem. The way it ends up being spun, I'm in the wrong here, I ended up probably ... apologising. He just got angry, it was a sh**show, he ends up crying …' She said he would claim that people lied about him 'all the time'. 'In my heart of hearts I didn't (believe him) but I didn't know what to do and I didn't yet know in that moment whether I was ready to let it go.' Armitage said she had gone through 'two really hard relationships' where her partner was not loyal to her. But she said she kept her dignity. 'Never once have I named the guy. Even now I'm still not saying his name,' she said. 'Even now all the submissions I get are what happened between you and so and so. That is constant and always will be. 'I only have so much give in me before I snap. After what I've done for that guy, there you go. That is exactly how it went down. This makes no difference in my life. Good riddance, wish you the best. 'Moving forward I have learnt so much in those relationships and I believe I will not make the same mistakes again. Everyone was like why would you date him. I knew him as kids, we grew up together. I've known him for so long, it's going to be different. It never is.' Smith has had a history of mental health issues. 'It's (mental health issues) obviously very topical at the minute, and I think always is in sport and life in general. So it's good that we're starting to shed more light on it, even though it's probably coming to the floor because of some pretty tragic stuff happening,' Smith said in May this year. 'I've worked on myself a lot to where I sought out some professional help; I still see my psych to this day ... but yeah, it was a pretty tough time, especially when you've got (the) media burning some of your relationships, even though they shouldn't be burnt, and continue to be burnt. 'I wouldn't change anything (and) how it all happened, but it was a pretty lonely period (when he went through rehab after an ACL injury).'
