Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara's writers say they asked ChatGPT for the climax. What came next surprised everyone, including Mohit Suri.
4Saiyaara movie story: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Mohit Suri directorial Saiyaara might be the year's biggest romantic success story, but it turns out the writers behind the blockbuster film had no idea how to end it—until one of them jokingly turned to ChatGPT.
In a recent chat with film critic Komal Nahta, co-writer Sankalp Sadanah opened up about the unexpected roadblock they hit while working on the film's climax. Despite finishing the full script, the ending just wasn't landing.
'We had written the whole story but we were yet to crack the climax. We didn't know what the resolution of the film will be," Sankalp admitted.
With the pressure mounting, one of his assistants, Chetan Naidu, playfully turned to AI for help. 'At that point, I had an assistant Chetan Naidu and he asked ChatGPT also, just for fun. There was no seriousness behind it. He asked, 'How would Mohit Suri end such a movie?' And it responded by saying that hero and heroine should both die," Sankalp recalled with a laugh.
Director Mohit Suri was also leaning toward a tragic ending, given the heroine's situation in the film. 'Even Mohit was thinking that given the heroine's condition, it was inching towards a tragedy. But we couldn't crack it. Then one day, I was stuck in traffic and it just came to me," he said.
Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has gone on to become a box office sensation. The film has crossed Rs 300 crore nett in India and grossed over ₹500 crore worldwide, putting it within reach of Pathaan's global record.
The film's surprising success has sent shockwaves through the industry, especially in a year when films with fresh faces have struggled to bring audiences to theatres.
Last week, a fan-made AI-generated version of the Saiyaara title track featuring the legendary voice of Kishore Kumar added a nostalgic twist to the viral wave. Set against visuals of Rimjhim Gire Sawan, the AI cover has taken social media by storm.

Materialists OTT Release: Where To Watch Pedro Pascal, Dakota Johnson And Chris Evans' Rom-Com

Starring Pedro Pascal, Dakota Johnson, and Chris Evans, the film explores modern love, the illusion of choice, and the price tag often attached to relationships. After creating a massive buzz with Past Lives, Oscar-nominated director Celine Song is back with her second feature film, Materialists — a romantic drama wrapped in wit, longing, and a tangled love triangle. Starring Pedro Pascal, Dakota Johnson, and Chris Evans, the film explores modern love, the illusion of choice, and the price tag often attached to relationships. Originally released in theatres on June 13, Materialists is now available to stream — but there's a twist. The film has dropped on Amazon Prime Video India for rent only, not free with subscription. The official handle confirmed the update, writing, 'Everything comes with a price, including love. #MaterialistsOnPrime, Rent Now." What's Materialists About? In this New York-set romantic comedy, Dakota Johnson plays Lucy, a sharp, stylish, and successful matchmaker who knows how to pair people perfectly — except when it comes to herself. Things get complicated when she attends a wedding of a couple she matched. There, she meets Harry (Pedro Pascal), the groom's wealthy brother who instantly falls for her. But fate has more in store — Lucy also unexpectedly runs into her ex-boyfriend John (Chris Evans), a struggling actor now working as a wedding waiter. Caught between two very different men — one with emotional history, the other with financial security — Lucy is forced to confront what she really wants from love. The film's tagline might as well be: Would you choose love… or money? Song based the screenplay on her own experience working as a real-life matchmaker in NYC during the 2010s. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: 'I learned more about people and what's in their hearts than I have in any other period of my life." 'When asked about their ideal partner, clients often listed height, weight, net worth — all numbers." Box Office & Streaming Made on a $20 million budget, Materialists has grossed over $62 million globally. With strong performances, real-world commentary, and Celine Song's signature emotional depth, it's a modern love story with high stakes both romantic and existential. It will give a real space experience to astronomy buffs with a hi-tech audio system, the facility of accessing a library of Nasa and Easa star catalogues, an astronomical catalogue that lists stars," said an official.
