Chiefs' Andy Reid Gets Prestigious Ranking
Chiefs' Andy Reid Gets Prestigious Ranking originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Patrick Mahomes got blown out in a Super Bowl and, sure, Travis Kelce is coming off a career-worst season and is a descending player. But, according to most NFL analysts, the Kansas City Chiefs remain favorites to get to this year's Super Bowl for one reason:

Andy Reid.
Pro Football Focus this week named Reid as the league's best head coach heading into the 2025 season. After going 15-2 in the regular season (15-1 when trying to win) and returning to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive season, Reid is a slam dunk at this point.
"Like Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots teams before them, the Kansas City Chiefs are the masters of situational football," PFF writes. "The Chiefs played in 12 one-score games last season, including the playoffs, and won all of them. They found a way to reach the Super Bowl for the third straight season because Andy Reid has his entire team prepared for any situation."
Because of the return of Pete Carroll (74 in September) to the NFL as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, the 67-year-old Reid is no longer the NFL's oldest head coach. But he remains the best.

He has won three Super Bowls, been named NFL Coach of the Year and has 273 career regular-season victories, trailing only Belichick (302), George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328).

Comedian Jeff Ross Reveals Shocking Reason Tom Brady Agreed to Do Netflix Roast
It was just revealed why Tom Brady agreed to participate in Netflix's live roast of him - and the reason might surprise you. Comedian Jeff Ross, who cohosted the Roast of Tom Brady in May 2024 alongside Kevin Hart, shared during a Wednesday, June 26 appearance on The Howard Stern Show Brady's motivation for being the subject of the Netflix special. On the day of the roast, Ross asked Brady, "Why are you doing this?" According to Ross, Brady replied, "I love this kind of humor. People are too snowflaky right now," On top of that, Brady allegedly sent Ross a text that day saying: "No fear. This is what we do." The comedian also opened up about how to roast came to be, sharing that it took several years to get to the taping from when he first connected with the NFL star via Instagram. "I had seen him looking at my Instagram on Super Bowl Sunday a few years ago," Ross said. "I was like, Why the f**k is Tom Brady on my Instagram?' I go, 'Oh, I had some jokes up. Maybe that's how he unwinds before a big game.' And he f***ing wins!" It's likely that Ross is referring to Brady's Super Bowl win in 2021 as the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his seventh and final Super Bowl win as an NFL quarterback. "I hit him the next day on Instagram going, 'Dude, it's time for a roast. You obviously love this s**t,'" Ross continued. "He writes me back and we start talking and it turns out my agent and his agent, they work together. And we put a deal together to do a roast. Netflix is like, 'Sure!'" But just as Ross's plans were coming to fruition - Brady announced he had to decided not to retire from professional football, after previously announcing he was going to in February 2022. "He agreed and he retired and we were like, 'Let's go! Now's our chance.' Then he unretired," Ross said. "I was like, 'No, we got to wait until he's done playing. It's a little more fun.'" That opportunity came after Brady's second retirement in February 2023. However, the long-anticipated event was pushed back even more due to Brady's split from ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. "Then he was going through a divorce and I'm like, 'Let's wait for that,'" Ross explained. The event featured Brady getting roasted by comedians like Nikki Glaser and Andrew Schulz, celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck and former New England Patriots teammates Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. The former Los Angeles Angel was replaced by right-handed reliever Austin Warren. The Mets later announced that the veteran was removed with a left ankle ailment, via their social media. He will undergo imaging. Advertisement Canning could now join fellow starters Kodai Senga and Tylor Megill on the IL. Frankie Montas just recently came off the IL for New York after rehabbing a lat strain, and Sean Manaea is on the mend as well. However, the club's star trio of Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor have stayed healthy on the other side of the ball. After Thursday's matchup, the Mets will hit the road for a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates. After that, they'll return home to host the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees. They will then go back on the road to play the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals. Mets' Carlos Mendoza Reveals Terrible Griffin Canning News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Mets picked up another much-needed win on Thursday with their 4-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves, as they've now avoided their fourth straight series loss. On top of that, they're also a half-game ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies thanks to the latter team's 2-1 loss to the Houston Astros on Thursday. Advertisement Right-handed pitcher Griffin Canning threw 2.2 scoreless innings for New York before leaving with a leg injury. Relievers Austin Warren, Dedniel Nuñez, Ryne Stanek, and Edwin Diaz combined for a shutout the rest of the way. However, manager Carlos Mendoza revealed an unfortunate update about Canning postgame, via SNY. New York Mets starting pitcher Griffin Canning (46)© Wendell Cruz-Imagn Images "We think it's an Achilles," he said. "He's getting an MRI, we're waiting for the results, but it looks like it's an Achilles injury." Canning's season would end if the team's suspicions are true. The veteran is the latest of a long series of pitching injuries for the Mets. Ace Kodai Senga (hamstring) hasn't played since June 12, while right-hander Tylor Megill (elbow) hasn't played since June 14. Southpaw Sean Manaea (oblique) hasn't pitched this season, and right-hander Frankie Montas made his first start of the season on Tuesday after rehabbing a lat strain. Canning signed a one-year, $4.25 million deal with the Mets in December 2024. The 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pounder is 7-3 with a 3.77 ERA over 16 starts this season.
