Security guard murders 14-year-old nephew in Bengaluru over online game addiction
The accused has been identified as Nagaprasad (50), a security guard. The deceased, Amogha Keerthi (14), was a Class 7 student of a private school. Amogha had been living with his uncle for the past eight months in Kumbarahalli, Vinayaka Layout. His mother, Shilpa, was separated from her husband before Amogha's birth and was living alone for the last eight months.
Victim pressured uncle for money
The police said that Amogha was addicted to online games and often used to demand money from his uncle. He had also asked for an iPhone and other items. Frustrated over his behaviour, Nagaprasad allegedly slit his throat with a kitchen knife after covering his face with clothes, around 4.30 am on Monday at their residence. After committing the murder, Nagaprasad left the body at home and went to Majestic bus stand, where he stayed in and around the premises for three days. As he had no money to survive and had lost his bag, he decided to surrender and went to the Soladevanahalli police station on Thursday night. The police inspected the house and recovered the decomposed body.
The police said that during interrogation Nagaprasad confessed that the boy was constantly pressuring him for money and had assaulted him a week before the murder as he refused to give money.
He also told the police that after the murder, he had thought of ending his life by jumping into a lake, but changed his mind later. Nagaprasad has been sent in judicial custody.

Kerala: 13 held for mobile snatching on trains in early August
Agency: Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 20 (PTI) The Railway Protection Force said it has arrested 13 persons in connection with a series of mobile phone snatching incidents on moving trains in the first half of this month. According to a statement issued by the Railways on Wednesday, three separate cases were detected between August 10 and 16. The arrests were made and stolen property recovered in close coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and local police. The first case was reported on August 10 when a passenger travelling in the Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Malabar Express was attacked and robbed near Aluva. The miscreants allegedly struck him with a stick while he was using his mobile phone near the coach door, snatched the device, and further assaulted him when he attempted to get down from the slow-moving train. His earphones and cash were also taken. Six persons were arrested and the stolen items recovered within 18 hours, the statement said. On August 11, four persons, including a minor and a mobile shop owner, were nabbed in connection with an iPhone snatching incident on board the Netravati Express at Aluva. The shop owner, identified as Faizal, was held for allegedly accepting the stolen phone. In the third case, a special team from RPF Ernakulam apprehended three of four accused in a mobile phone snatching incident reported on the Secunderabad–Thiruvananthapuram Sabari Express on August 16. He said special teams have been deployed to intensify surveillance in vulnerable sections and urged passengers to remain vigilant, avoid exposing valuables near coach doors or windows, and immediately alert RPF or GRP in case of suspicious activity. The RPF Thiruvananthapuram Division remains committed to ensuring safe and secure travel for passengers, he added. Operation Yatri Suraksha continues to be a priority initiative of Indian Railways with strengthened surveillance, intelligence-based policing, and close coordination with GRP and local police, the statement further said. BESCOM assistant engineer molested, robbed at Bengaluru PG
BENGALURU: A 30-year-old BESCOM assistant engineer was molested and robbed of her two mobile phones by an unidentified knife-wielding miscreant at her room in a ladies paying guest accommodation at Judicial Layout on Monday. The incident happened between 3 pm and 3.30 pm, when the victim was in her room on the third floor of Shivas Ladies PG in Judicial Layout. After hearing somebody knocking on the door, she opened, assuming it to be somebody from the PG. The man pushed her inside threatening her at knife point and closed the door. After molesting her, he asked her to remove her gold bangles. As she was unable to remove, the accused asked her to give him money. She asked him to take money from her vanity bag that was on the bed. When the accused turned to take the bag, she pushed him and ran inside the bathroom and locked herself. When she started screaming for help, the accused took her two mobile phones that were on the bed and fled. The victim had joined the PG a fortnight back. The victim informed the matter to the police immediately and filed a complaint. 'The police found both the mobile phones of the victim in a bush next to the PG. We suspect that the accused had thrown the phones and escaped. The accused must have observed the movements of the victim. The phones, including one iPhone, are worth about Rs 1.05 lakh. We are checking the CCTVs of the PG and in the vicinity to get leads,' said the police. 'The accused is yet to be arrested,' VJ Sajeeth, DCP (North East) said. The Yelahanka police have registered a case.

Sex racket busted, two women rescued from Dharampeth salon
Nagpur: In a swift crackdown on , Nagpur city police's Social Security Branch (SSB), under 'Operation Shakti,' rescued two women from a flesh trade being operated from a unisex salon in the bustling Dharampeth area on Tuesday. They have now been moved to a government shelter for medical care and rehabilitation. The salon, rented around two years ago, was operating from the rooms, converting the parking zone for business purposes, said police. While the prime accused, Deepa Godade (35), was rounded up, the mastermind remained absconding, triggering a citywide manhunt. Godade was the manager of the spa and was instrumental in operating the flesh trade. She is now in custody. The raid, conducted by a team comprising head constables Sameer Shaikh, Prakash Mathankar, Ashwin Bhange, and others, led by Senior Inspector Rahul Shire under the supervision of DCP Rahul Maknikar and Addl CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, exposed the racket operating under the guise of a legitimate spa. Sources stated the cops kept the spa under surveillance for some time with credible information about the ongoing sex racket thriving among top-notch clients. "We sent a police punter earlier in the day, but the spa owners refused to entertain him, leaving our raid unsuccessful. On our second attempt, we managed to crack them as the police informer sneaked inside and laid the trap. As soon as the spa operators accepted the cash, the cops barged in," said a cop who was part of the probe. Police seized Rs 3,000 in cash, an iPhone worth Rs 25,000, a Poco mobile worth Rs 10,000, a DVR valued at Rs 2,000, and a condom packet, totalling Rs 40,000 in confiscated items. "Operation Shakti is our commitment to uproot trafficking networks and protect vulnerable women," said CP Ravinder Singal. The accused face charges under Sections 143(2) (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Investigations suggest links to a broader trafficking syndicate, with further arrests expected.
