Bengaluru man kills nephew over gaming addiction, surrenders after three days: Report
A 50-year-old security guard in northwestern Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly murdering his teenage nephew over his gaming addiction. When Nagaprasad refused, the disagreement escalated into a confrontation the night before the murder, the report further added. According to investigators, the teen went to bed following the argument. At around 5.50 am the next morning, while Amogh was asleep, Nagaprasad allegedly gagged him, tied up his hands and feet, and used a kitchen knife to slit his throat. He then cleaned the weapon, packed his belongings, and initially planned to take his own life. However, he later abandoned the idea and attempted to flee the city. But without sufficient money, he wandered the city for three days before finally surrendering at Soladevanahalli police station on August 7, police said. Amogh had been living with his uncle for the past 11 months after his mother, Shilpa, separated from her husband and sent the boy to Nagaprasad's home in the hope that it would help change his behaviour. The police said Amogh was demanding money from his uncle to spend on the popular online game, Free Fire. According to the police, when Nagaprasad refused to provide money, the teenager had a heated argument with him before eventually going to sleep. At approximately 5.50 am on August 4, while Amogh slept, Nagaprasad allegedly gagged him, tied his hands and feet, and then slit his throat with a kitchen knife. After washing the murder weapon and packing his belongings, Nagaprasad initially planned to die by suicide but abandoned the idea. He then travelled to Majestic, intending to flee the state, but lacked funds. After wandering for three days, he surrendered at Soladevanahalli police station on August 7, said a police officer. Amogh had been living with his uncle for 11 months after his mother, Shilpa, separated from her husband and sent the boy to Nagaprasad's home, hoping he would reform his behaviour. The court has remanded Nagaprasad in judicial custody.

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bengaluru, Aug 9 (PTI) A 14-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed in the neck by his maternal uncle in Bengaluru, who surrendered to police three days after the incident, police said on Saturday. The teenager, a school dropout addicted to online games, reportedly frequently quarrelled with his uncle over money to fund his gaming habit, police said. The incident occurred on August 4 at around 5 am in Kumbarahalli, where the boy lived with his uncle, identified as Nagaprasad. Nagaprasad, who works as a security guard, allegedly stabbed his sleeping nephew with a kitchen knife. Unable to bear the boy's repeated demands for money, he fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police registered a case under Section 101 (murder) at Soladevanahalli police station. Nagaprasad surrendered to police three days later, confessing to the crime. Following his admission, police recovered the boy's decomposed body from the scene and seized the murder weapon. The accused told police he wandered through nearby villages after fleeing and even contemplated suicide before deciding to turn himself in. Nagaprasad has been produced before a Bengaluru court, which remanded him in judicial custody. Police reports indicated that Nagaprasad frequently gave in to his nephew's requests, but Amogh's mounting demands were beginning to worry him. Things took a shocking turn on August 4th, at dawn — around 5 am — while Amogh was asleep, when Nagaprasad is accused of using a kitchen knife to fatally wound the boy before fleeing, The Hindu reported. Following the crime, Nagaprasad wandered through local villages, reportedly contemplating suicide. Ultimately, he decided against it and walked into the police station on Thursday to confess. After recording his statement, officers accompanied him to the location and recovered Amogh's body, which by then had begun to decompose. The remains were sent for forensic examination, the report said. Authorities investigating the case stated that the tension reached its peak when Amogh demanded money once again, despite Nagaprasad's protests that he couldn't provide it. The boy's persistence and emotional outbursts apparently led the suspect to commit the crime, the report stated. A Bengaluru court has since placed him in judicial custody. Nagaprasad, employed as a security guard, had been residing with Amogh in Kumbarahalli near Soladevanahalli. The family's roots trace back to Gubbi, in the Tumakuru district.

Four days after the crime, the man surrendered before the Soladevanahalli police on Thursday, who later recovered the decomposed body. The accused has been identified as Nagaprasad (50), a security guard. The deceased, Amogha Keerthi (14), was a Class 7 student of a private school. Amogha had been living with his uncle for the past eight months in Kumbarahalli, Vinayaka Layout. His mother, Shilpa, was separated from her husband before Amogha's birth and was living alone for the last eight months. Victim pressured uncle for money The police said that Amogha was addicted to online games and often used to demand money from his uncle. He had also asked for an iPhone and other items. Frustrated over his behaviour, Nagaprasad allegedly slit his throat with a kitchen knife after covering his face with clothes, around 4.30 am on Monday at their residence. After committing the murder, Nagaprasad left the body at home and went to Majestic bus stand, where he stayed in and around the premises for three days. As he had no money to survive and had lost his bag, he decided to surrender and went to the Soladevanahalli police station on Thursday night. The police inspected the house and recovered the decomposed body. The police said that during interrogation Nagaprasad confessed that the boy was constantly pressuring him for money and had assaulted him a week before the murder as he refused to give money. He also told the police that after the murder, he had thought of ending his life by jumping into a lake, but changed his mind later. Nagaprasad has been sent in judicial custody.
