Truck owners: Check if you're entitled to money in fuel injector pump settlement

Yahoo14-05-2025
People who purchased select models of Chevrolet and GMC trucks may be eligible for payments of up to $12,700 as part of a $35 million settlement involving defective fuel injector pumps.
The settlement pertains to 2011-2016 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierra diesel trucks equipped with 6.6L Duramax engines and Bosch 'CP4' high-pressure diesel fuel pumps.
According to a press release from the JND Legal Administration, the lawsuit pertains to these pumps being 'unreasonably fragile and susceptible to catastrophic failure.'
While General Motors denied the claims, the company has agreed to the $35 million settlement.
Truck owners who purchased one of these models from a GM-authorized dealer in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania or Texas between March 1, 2010 and Sept. 13, 2024 may be eligible for settlement benefits.
A VIN lookup is available to check if your truck is included in the settlement.
A cash payment is available to truck owners who paid out of pocket for repairs to the CP4 fuel pump and available for folks who no longer own their truck and did not pay for a fuel pump repair. Partial cash back for future CP4 fuel pump replacements and repairs are also available in some circumstances, according to the settlement website.
People who paid out of pocket for a CP4 repair that was not covered by warranty could receive between $6,356 and $12,712, while folks who no longer own their trucks and did not pay for repairs could receive between $400 and $800, depending on how many valid claims are received.
A partial repair reimbursement program also offers cash back on future CP4 repairs performed at a GM-authorized dealership on or after the date of final approval of the settlement.
You can file a claim online, or submit a paper claim form to info@GMFuelPumpLitigation.com or GM Fuel Pump Settlement, c/o JND Legal Administration, PO Box 91445, Seattle, WA 98111.
The deadline to file a claim is six months after the court issues final approval; the hearing on the final settlement is scheduled for April 25. Claims require supporting documentation, such as proof of purchase and proof of repair.

Ryan Preece earns 2nd career pole position in hunt for NASCAR playoff spot at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Ryan Preece will start from the pole position Saturday night at Richmond Raceway while trying to lock in a spot for the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Preece earned his second career pole in 212 Cup starts with a lap at 121.381 mph around the 0.75-mile oval in his No. 60 Ford. 'What a great car,' said Preece, whose previous pole came at Martinsville Speedway in April 2023. With two races remaining in the regular season, Preece still can make the playoffs through the points standings, but a win would secure an automatic berth. Tyler Reddick, who can lock into the 16-driver playoff field on points with a strong result Saturday, qualified second. AJ Allmendinger will start third despite his No. 16 Chevrolet failing prerace inspection twice, which resulted in a loss of pit stall selection and the ejection of car chief Jaron Antley. Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott rounded out the top five in qualifying. Sweeping the top three starting spots, Preece, Reddick and Allmendinger were joined by six other winless drivers qualifying in the top 15: Brad Keselowski (sixth), Alex Bowman (ninth), Michael McDowell (10th), Austin Dillon (11th), Chris Buescher (12th) and Carson Hocevar (15th). It'll be a tougher slog to get to the front for Ty Gibbs (22nd) and Kyle Busch (28th). Three-time Cup champion Joey Logano, a two-time winner at Richmond, will start last in the 38-car field after being unable to turn a lap in qualifying. Logano hit the Turn 4 wall in practice because of a right-front tire problem on his No. 22 Ford. Starting position is critical at Richmond, which tends to have long green-flag stretches when it's easy to fall a lap down. Last August's race had only three caution flags, which is tied for the fewest on a short track since the 2022 debut of the Next Gen car. ___

Futuristic Chevrolet Corvette concept cars signal the brand's future

General Motors revealed two concept cars Aug. 15: the Chevrolet Corvette CX and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. Fighter jets and video games served as inspiration for the designs the company called "aggressively futuristic." The reveals took place at The Quail, a vehicle event in Carmel, California. The CX, an all-electric vehicle, and the CX.R, a hybrid, represent the latest and last of several Corvette concepts GM rolled out this year. Multiple GM studios were tasked with drafting Corvette-inspired hypercars. The first came out of GM's UK studio in March and the second was revealed last month, from GM's Pasadena, California, studio. Both concepts were electric. GM's design network spans studios in Michigan, Southern California, China, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! There are no stated production plans for either concept. They 'will influence where we go forward,' Phil Zak, executive design director at Chevrolet, said in a call to media. He added that prior to the design experiment this year, Corvette hadn't produced a concept since 2009. The front of the CX swings up and forward similar to tipping a fedora hat. In lieu of doors, a driver must vault over the side to enter the vehicle. The electric all-wheel-drive supercar has four motors, one for each wheel, generating more than 2,000 horsepower. Designers opted to mount the 90-kWh lithium-ion battery in the chassis for a low center of gravity and ideal front-rear weight distribution. The CX.R is slated to be featured in the latest installment of the long-running racing game Gran Turismo 7 later this month. The hybrid has a midmounted 2.0-liter, dual-overhead-cam, twin-turbo V8 engine, making up to 900 horsepower and an engine speed of 15,000 rpm. The V8 drives the rear wheels while three electric motors – one for each front wheel, plus a third in the 8-speed gearbox – bring a system output of 2,000 hp, the company said.
