Ewon gives thumbs up to the event.
PENAMPANG (July 22): The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) will implement 23 series of the MADANI Entrepreneur e-Invoicing Seminar nationwide this year, targeting the participation of 20,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs.
Its minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said the initiative is in line with the government's efforts to accelerate the adoption of the e-Invoicing system among entrepreneurs, which is an early step towards the scaling and modernisation of MSME operations in the country.
'In the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which will begin in 2026, KUSKOP will place strong focus on the MSME entrepreneur scaling agenda, that is, to develop micro enterprises into small enterprises, and small enterprises into businesses that can be listed on Bursa Malaysia.
'This agenda begins with the early step of MSME entrepreneurs adopting the use of e-Invoicing in their businesses. I hope entrepreneurs view this as a potential to scale up their businesses.
'That is why KUSKOP, through its agency the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), is organising 23 series of e-Invoicing seminars nationwide this year. In addition, SME Corp is also working together with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) to support the adoption and implementation of e-Invoicing among MSME entrepreneurs,' he said.
He said this while officiating the MADANI Entrepreneur e-Invoicing Seminar at the Sabah Cultural Centre here on Tuesday.
Also present were INSKEN Board of Trustees chairman Haji Mustaffa Kamil Ayub, INSKEN Chief Executive Officer Viviantie Sarjuni, INSKEN board members, and heads of agencies under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry.
Ewon said the seminar is part of the ministry's initiative to empower entrepreneurs through understanding and compliance with digital systems, particularly the e-Invoicing system.
'In line with the digitalisation trend and the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, the implementation of e-Invoicing is an important step in increasing business operational efficiency and ensuring transparency and integrity in transactions.
'KUSKOP remains committed to strengthening the national entrepreneurial ecosystem, including expanding access to knowledge, technology, and business support,' he said.

People-centric initiatives boost MSME sector in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Recent government measures aimed at easing financial burdens on Malaysians are expected to provide significant relief to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcements include continued fuel subsidies for RON95 at RM1.99 per litre and a postponement of toll rate increases on 10 major highways. Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick highlighted the direct benefits for MSMEs, particularly those reliant on transportation and logistics. 'Many businesses, especially in rural areas, depend on travel between urban and rural locations for sourcing materials and product deliveries. These measures will help reduce operational costs,' he said during an interview on Bernama Radio's Reaksi segment. Additional support comes in the form of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, which provides a one-off RM100 cash aid to Malaysians aged 18 and above. The government has also increased funding for the MADANI Rahmah Sales initiative, aimed at stimulating domestic spending. Ewon encouraged Malaysians to take advantage of the newly announced public holiday on September 15, coinciding with Malaysia Day, by exploring local tourism. 'Support rural tourism and cooperative-run destinations. There is immense potential in our local economy waiting to be tapped,' he said. The ministry is actively promoting cooperative-based tourism, with events like the National Cooperative Day celebration in Melaka running from tomorrow until Sunday. - Bernama

Oriental Interest's net profit rises to RM45.48mil in 3Q

KUALA LUMPUR: Oriental Interest Bhd 's net profit rose to RM45.484 million for its third quarter ended May 31, 2025 (3QF2025), from RM25.233 million a year earlier. The property development segment continued to be the key growth driver, with revenue increasing by 95 per cent in the current quarter, the group said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today. Revenue surged to RM305.245 million from RM180.424 million previously. "This growth was largely attributed to higher revenue recognition from construction progress of ongoing projects, and contributions from newly launched developments,' it said. Despite ongoing challenges in both the property sector and the broader domestic economy, the group said it continued its upward trajectory in revenue and profitability, underpinned by strong property sales that reflect the quality and value of its developments. "Looking ahead, the group remains well-positioned for continued growth, supported by unbilled property sales of approximately RM428.14 million as at the end of the reporting financial quarter. "With healthy bookings and strong sales momentum, the group is optimistic about delivering another year of positive performance in FY2025,' it said. - Bernama

People-centric Initiatives To Boost MSME Sector

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Recent people-focused initiatives announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will positively support Malaysia's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly by easing operational costs. Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said continued fuel subsidies for RON95 at RM1.99 per litre and the deferment of toll hikes on 10 highways will benefit MSMEs that rely heavily on transportation and logistics, especially in rural areas. 'MSMEs will feel the impact directly, as many depend on travel between rural and urban areas for sourcing materials and delivering products,' he said on Bernama Radio's Reaksi segment titled 'Appreciation for the People, Proof of Government's Concern', today. He added that the one-off RM100 cash aid for all Malaysians aged 18 and above under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, and increased allocation for the MADANI Rahmah Sales initiative, would further stimulate domestic spending. Ewon also urged Malaysians to use the additional public holiday on Sept 15, announced in conjunction with Malaysia Day, to travel locally. 'Support cooperative-run destinations and rural tourism ventures driven by MSME communities. There's plenty of local beauty and economic potential waiting to be explored,' he said. The ministry, he added, will continue promoting cooperative-based tourism through platforms such as the National Cooperative Day celebration in Melaka, which runs from tomorrow until Sunday. -- BERNAMA
