
Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies website launched
MUSCAT: The Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies held its 2025 annual gathering at Al Shafaq Club of the Sultan's Armed Forces. The event was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.
On this occasion, HH Sayyid Shihab launched the academy's official website (https://www.asds.edu.om) and reviewed its key electronic services, designed to support academic, scientific and strategic research.
HH Sayyid Shihab commended the academy's national role and praised the efforts of its leadership in achieving its objectives. He urged the participants of the 12th National Defence Course and the 38th Leadership and Staff Course to continue developing plans, policies and systems that enhance the academy's academic framework and keep pace with evolving educational and strategic advancements.
The event was attended by the Commandant of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, the Commandant of the National Defence College, the Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College, the Head of the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies, senior officers, strategic advisers, academic representatives and participants of the 12th National Defence Course and the 38th Leadership and Staff Course. - ONA

His Majesty the Sultan, Iranian President hold official talks
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran, today held a round of official talks at Al Alam Palace. At the outset of the session, His Majesty the Sultan reiterated his welcome for President Pezeshkian and his delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay. President Pezeshkian expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan for the warm welcome and hospitality. The session reviewed the deep-rooted historical relations between the two friendly countries, exchanged views on current developments in the region, as well as efforts to consolidate the Omani-Iranian partnership, notably in the fields of industry, commerce, and education. The session also sought ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of logistics and health in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples. Then, His Majesty the Sultan and President Pezeshkian held a closed-door session. The talks session was attended from the Omani side by HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. NDC Commandant receives Algerian delegation
MUSCAT: Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), received a delegation from the War High College of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, at Bait Al Falaj, on Sunday. During the meeting, both sides exchanged discussions on several matters of mutual interest, particularly in academic fields. The meeting was attended by several senior officers from the National Defence College at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies. The Algerian delegation also visited the Joint Command and Staff College at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies. Upon arrival at the College's headquarters in Bait Al Falaj, the delegation was received by the Acting Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College. During the visit, the delegation viewed a visual presentation about the college, its curriculum and various training and educational programmes. The delegation also toured the college's facilities, including its departments, systems and equipment. - ONA

SAF Chief of Staff visits DSEI Japan 2025 expo
Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), visited the Defence and Security Equipment International 'DSEI Japan 2025' exhibition, held in Tokyo. The SAF Chief of Staff and his accompanying military delegation toured the exhibition and the various companies participating in the DSEI Japan 2025. He also attended several discussion panels held at the sidelines of the exhibition. Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces met here with General Yoshihide Yoshida, Japan's Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff. During this meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest. The meeting and the DSEI Japan 2025 opening ceremony were attended by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Busaidy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan.
