BREAKING NEWS Meghan Markle interviews Beyoncé's mother in 'bonus' episode of podcast - years after Destiny's Child star praised her for 'breaking generational curses that need to be healed' after Royal split

Daily Mail2 days ago

The Duchess of Sussex has interviewed Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles in a final bonus episode of her podcast which came out this morning.
Meghan Markle spoke on Confessions of a Female Founder with the 71-year-old fashion designer, who has recently been promoting her new memoir 'Matriarch'.
Knowles told the Duchess about how she 'fights so hard' for her family, which also includes her other daughter Solange Knowles and her four grandchildren.
Speaking about the advice she gives to her daughters, Knowles added: 'I tell them every day, since they were little girls, 'You belong anywhere you choose to be'.'
It comes less than a month after Meghan and her husband Prince Harry were seen dancing at Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour at SoFi Stadium in California on May 9.
The Duchess also attended Beyoncé's Renaissance tour in California in September 2023 along with Harry, her mother Doria Ragland and Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
Meghan first publicly met Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z in London in July 2019 at the premiere of Disney's remake of The Lion King, in which the singer voiced Nala.
Beyoncé greeted Meghan with a long embrace and told her 'Hi, my princess' - a reference to the singer's Brit Awards acceptance video in February that year which included a spoof painting of Meghan dressed as a princess in a tiara and pearls.
The Duchess of Sussex (left, at the Time100 Summit in New York on April 23) has interviewed Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles (right, at SiriusXM studios in the city on May 20)
And in Harry and Meghan's Netflix show in 2022, the Duchess said Beyoncé texted her to praise her 'bravery and vulnerability' after her Oprah Winfrey interview.
In their joint interview with Winfrey in March 2021, Harry and Meghan made a series of allegations about the Royal Family after stepping down as senior royals the year before, including that a member made a racist comment about their son Archie.
Home footage in the Harry & Meghan Netflix series showed the Duchess reading the message from the popstar to her husband. She said Beyoncé told her she 'was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed'.
The documentary showed Harry pulling a mock surprised face and throwing his hands up and responding 'shut up' when Meghan says: 'Beyoncé just texted.'
He added: 'Just checking in, just casual,' as a laughing Meghan said: 'I still can't believe she knows who I am. She said she wants me to feel safe and protected.
'She admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed.'
Beyoncé, who rose to fame with the American girl group Destiny's Child, married Jay Z in 2008. They had their first child, daughter Blue Ivy, in 2012 - and then twins Rumi and Sir in 2017.
The final episode of Meghan's eight-part podcast was released on May 29, in which she spoke to Sara Blakely, founder of shapewear clothing company Spanx.
But Lemonada then revealed on May 29 that a bonus episode would be released.
The firm said in a social media post: 'We had just wrapped Confessions of a Female Founder and packed up the mics - until a call came in that we couldn't ignore.
'On the line was one of the most influential and inspiring matriarchs in culture today. Naturally, we hit record.'
Meghan also said: 'Next week, we've got one more very special interview for you. A bonus episode. Because when a matriarch calls, and when this matriarch calls, oh, you answer. This one is so special, y'all.'
The final phrase was viewed as a nod towards Knowles's Texas roots and Beyoncé's tour name of Cowboy Carter.
And the reference to 'matriarch' was also seen as a wink towards Knowles's recent memoir of the same name, which came out on April 22.
While Lemonada did not reveal the name of the guest in advance, fans quickly recognised the voice and identified it as Knowles.
In January, Knowles revealed her Malibu bungalow was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires, writing: 'It was my favourite place, my sanctuary, my sacred happy place.'

Trump bans citizens of 12 countries from entering US

Donald Trump has signed a new travel ban targeting 12 countries following a terror attack in Colorado that authorities blamed on a man they claimed was in the country illegally. The ban, which strongly resembles a similar measure taken in his first presidency, targets nationals of Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. The White House said the ban would take effect on June 9. A partial ban has also been placed on travellers from seven countries: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. 'The recent terror attack in Boulder, Colorado has underscored the extreme dangers posed to our country by the entry of foreign nationals who are not properly vetted,' Mr Trump said in a video message from the Oval Office posted on X. 'We don't want them.' Mr Trump compared the new measures to the 'powerful' travel ban he imposed on a number of mainly Muslim countries in his first term in 2018. Joe Biden later repealed the ban in 2021, calling it 'a stain on our national conscience'. "We cannot have open migration from any country where we cannot safely and reliably vet and screen... That is why today I am signing a new executive order placing travel restrictions on countries including Yemen, Somalia, Haiti, Libya, and numerous others." –President Trump — The White House (@WhiteHouse) June 4, 2025 Mr Trump referenced Europe as an example as he vowed to crack down on migration. 'We will not let what happened in Europe happen in America,' he said. 'We cannot have open migration from any country where we cannot safely and reliably vet and screen. That is why today I am signing a new executive order placing travel restrictions on countries including Yemen, Somalia, Haiti, Libya, and numerous others.' Rumours of a new travel ban had circulated following the attack in Colorado, with the Trump administration promising to pursue 'terrorists' living in the US on visas. Suspect Mohammed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national, is alleged to have thrown fire bombs and sprayed burning gasoline at a group of people who had gathered on Sunday in support of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Egypt is not one of the countries effected by the new travel ban. US Homeland Security officials said Mr Soliman was in the country illegally, having overstayed a tourist visa, but that he had applied for asylum in September 2022. 'President Trump is fulfilling his promise to protect Americans from dangerous foreign actors that want to come to our country and cause us harm,' White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson said on X. 'These common-sense restrictions are country-specific and include places that lack proper vetting, exhibit high visa overstay rates, or fail to share identity and threat information.'

Hugh Jackman, 56, larks around with his much younger co-star, 25, after eyebrows are raised over their racy sex scenes in new play

is currently starring in a play with 25-year-old Ella Beatty and on Wednesday the pair were seen larking it up during rehearsals. The Wolverine actor, 56, shared some photos to social media which captured him and Ella hamming it up during a break. Hugh had his arm wrapped around the budding actress, who is the daughter of Hollywood legend Warren Beatty, and he beamed from ear to ear as he gave the camera a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Ella was all smiles as she pointed to the logo on her shirt, which read: 'New York's Real Aussie Embassy.' Hugh captioned the photos with some amusing words: 'Ella agrees!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It follows reports that Hugh is turning up the heat on stage - as he continues to date his new girlfriend, Broadway actress Sutton Foster. In the intense play Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, Jackman plays Jon, a three-time divorced, middle-aged college professor and novelist who dives into a forbidden relationship with his 19-year-old student Annie, played by Ella Beatty. The Wolverine star doesn't hold back in the provocative off-Broadway show — swearing up a storm, getting graphic about sex, and locking lips in multiple steamy make-out scenes with Ella. Foster, 50, even made a backstage appearance this week, trying to quiet whispers that their new relationship has been on shaky ground since going public in January. But the show's raunchy moments can't be easy to watch for Foster, as Hugh and Ella frequently kiss — at one point making out on a desk as a scantily clad Ella wraps her legs around him. Adding more fuel to the gossip mill, fresh photos of the pair holding hands during the curtain call have sent tongues wagging. The two beamed with pride, looking completely at ease with the intimate gesture. It's not just the steamy make-out scenes turning up the heat — Hugh also unleashes a barrage of expletives, including blunt, graphic lines about a college cheerleader 'sucking his c***' It follows reports that Hugh is turning up the heat onstage - as he continues to date his new girlfriend, Broadway actress Sutton Foster The play digs into messy questions of consent and power, with Annie, a smitten student hooked on Jon's steamy novels, chasing his attention, while Jon battles temptation, a failing marriage, and the fallout of getting involved with a student. Offstage, Hugh's own split from Deborra-Lee Furness seems to mirror the emotional storm. The actor, who has only been married once, announced his split from Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage. In a joint statement at the time, they said they were 'shifting' and had decided to 'separate to pursue our individual growth.' The couple share two adopted children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19. Hugh and Sutton's relationship reportedly overlapped with the end of his marriage. The two had been friends for years in the same theatre circles but only went public after they were photographed holding hands earlier this year.

Bill Belichick's close friend 'deeply concerned' about Jordon Hudson's influence over UNC football

One of Bill Belichick 's closest allies is reportedly 'deeply concerned' about Jordon Hudson's involvement in the UNC football program. Hudson, Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend who has firmly embedded herself in his professional life, was reportedly banned from UNC's football facilities - as Pablo Torre claimed last month. UNC refuted Torre's report, though said Hudson would 'continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand' outside of the school. And while Torre has already said that the legendary coach's family was 'digging into' Hudson, his UNC GM and longtime friend Michael Lombardi is also apparently worried about her presence. 'What if I told you that [Belichick's] inner circle of actual coaches on staff, including a certain Mike Lombardi, is deeply concerned about Jordon Hudson and her presence in the building?,' Torre said on the latest episode Bill Simmons Podcast. Lombardi, a longtime football executive and analyst, previously worked under Simmons at The Ringer, and served as an assistant to Belichick's New England coaching staff from 2014-16. Torre wondered aloud whether Simmons may have spoken with him Lombardi recently, but Simmons declined to divulge any information. While Belichick and Hudson's relationship became public last year, the scrutiny around it has reached a fever pitch since she was seen inserting herself into his CBS Sunday Morning Interview. Interviewer Tony Dokoupil described her as a 'constant presence' throughout the session, in which CBS cameras captured her vetoing a question about how she and Belichick met. An email publicized by The Assembly also provided insight into her influence in Belichick's professional life, as the coach had asked for her to be copied on all emails sent to him by UNC staffers. It also emerged via several reports that her desire to be involved in the iconic HBO 'Hard Knocks' series curtailed the cameras' involvement in Belichick's work at the school. All of that led Belichick's family to reportedly grow worried about the ex-Patriots coach's relationship with Hudson, as Torre reported the coach's loved ones were 'digging into' her amid fears she could tear down 'everything he's built,' citing an unnamed source. Belichick, won six Super Bowls in New England as head coach, signed a five-year, $50million contract with UNC. And Daily Mail exclusively reported in April that Hudson had quietly amassed a $9million real estate portfolio. Torre's appearance on Simmons' show came as the Ringer founder and Spotify executive ripped into the former's reporting of the Belichick and Hudson saga. 'I've never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you're a journalist,' he said on a recent episode of his 'The Rewatchables' podcast. 'What the f*** was that? Seriously.' The die-hard Patriots fan also said: 'Belichick's dating a girl. 'Oh, let me do nine shows about it,'' Simmons, a Boston native, said, mocking Torre. 'Settle the f–k down … You don't need to do a media tour about a f***ing podcast.' Torre responded on social media, challenging Simmons to have a conversation with him - which they ultimately did as they hashed things on on the latter's eponymous podcast. While UNC have maintained that Hudson is not banned from their facilities - a rebuttal to Torre's original reporting which he refuted again - there has been a change to the school's communications staff. The school recently hired former Bears PR Director Brandon Faber amid the negative press it was receiving, and he was seen accompanying Belichick as he left an interview with Good Morning America.
