It's 420 Somewhere: Aurora Cannabis Sparks Up the Top Line

Another impressive top-line beat by Aurora Cannabis Inc. (Nasdaq: ACB) should have investors fired up.
The company reported a 17% revenue increase in its first fiscal quarter, mostly driven by a strong performance in the Global Medical Cannabis Market. ACB continues to outperform in key European markets with higher sales in Germany, Poland, and the UK.
Poland, after facing some regulatory headwinds in the past, is now back on track and can't get enough of the ACB high-potency medical products.
While gross margins improved for medical cannabis and consumer cannabis segments, elevated SG&A costs led to a decrease in net income. Many of these expenses look temporary and related to the integration of recently-acquired MedReleaf Australia.
Management has also reiterated that EBITDA is expected to grow in the near-term with increasing operational efficiencies and a higher-margin sales mix. Of course, some variable costs will rise with increased sales, but we expect profitability to improve in coming quarters.
ACB is differentiated in the industry by free cash flow generation and an strong balance sheet. Notably, all cannabis operations are run completely debt-free and ACB maintains C$186 million in cash and cash equivalents.
And the last puff: ACB still trades at a discount compared to peers on an EV/EBITDA multiple and its own 3-year mean price/sales multiple.

Housebuilder becomes main sponsor for Cleckheaton tennis club
A housebuilder has served up a sponsorship deal with Cleckheaton Lawn Tennis Club. Barratt Homes, currently building its Wadsworth Gardens development on Whitechapel Road, will be the club's main sponsor for the next 12 months. Martyn Addison, secretary at Cleckheaton Lawn Tennis Club, said: "We are delighted that Barratt Homes is supporting us. Cleckheaton Tennis Club's members enjoying a social evening (Image: Supplied) "We are a community club run by volunteers so this partnership really helps to keep the facilities in tip top condition for our members and the local community to enjoy." The sponsorship was arranged during Wimbledon in July, one of the sport's most high-profile events. Gavin Birch, managing director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, said: "Cleckheaton Lawn Tennis Club is one of the many organisations which make Cleckheaton the fantastic community-driven town that it is, bringing people together to have fun and exercise." The Wadsworth Gardens development offers one-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes, and is located between Bradford and Leeds.

Students enjoyed the red carpet treatment on results day
There was plenty to celebrate at Bolton College on A-level day as students enjoyed the red carpet treatment. Hundreds turned up to collect their Level 3 results for T-Levels, BTECs, UAL qualifications, and T Level Year 1 programmes. The college transformed its onsite restaurant, Signature - usually open to the public during term time - into a vibrant hub for the day. A red carpet was rolled out for students as they got ready to receive their results as well as tokens for a complimentary cupcake, ice cream, and entry into a raffle with a variety of prizes on offer. Qudus Mobalaji Davies - BTEC - Double Distinction Star and Merit at Bolton College Support was available throughout the day from curriculum teams, university clearing advisors, the National Careers Service, Apprenticeships staff, and the College's wellbeing team. Outside, the college courtyard wa transformed into a lively celebration space. Bolton FM is provided a DJ service, with music, interviews, and entertainment. A mocktail and cupcake station, ice cream van, and a fun photobooth add to the festival atmosphere, whilst learners share their achievements on a colourful 'Wall of Wins'. Special guests from the Department for Education, the Association of Colleges, City & Guilds, and The Gatsby Charitable Foundation are meeting learners and congratulating them on their achievements. Lilia Chapman has achieved a Distinction in her T Level in Management & Administration, the highest grade possible. She is progressing to the University of Leeds. Liam Sloan, Principal of Bolton College, said on the day: 'Today is one of the most important and uplifting days in the academic year - the moment when our learners receive the results they have worked so hard to achieve. "T Levels, BTECs and UAL qualifications lead to high-level careers, university study, and a wealth of future opportunities. These pathways open doors, shape futures, and require dedication, resilience, and determination to succeed. "Being here with our learners as they open their results is an honour. The pride, relief, and even a few happy tears say it all - a powerful reflection of their hard work and the dedication of the Bolton College team.
