Songwriter of the year went to the country music label's songwriter, Jessie Jo Dillon
Big Machine Music, a label under Hybe America, was named publisher of the year at the 10th AIMP Nashville Awards, the company announced Thursday.
The awards, hosted annually by the Association of Independent Music Publishers, recognize outstanding achievements by independent publishers and songwriters in the American country and pop music scene. Big Machine Music earned the honor for a second time, following its previous win in 2021.
'This is an amazing honor, but being part of Nashville's vibrant, independent publishing community is the reward in itself,' Big Machine Music President Mike Molinar said in a statement. 'Thank you to our incredible writers and staff. This is a reflection of all of their talent and work.'
Jessie Jo Dillon, a songwriter affiliated with Big Machine Music, was named songwriter of the year, marking her second win at the event. Dillon is a highly acclaimed songwriter who also won songwriter of the year at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards and was nominated for the 'songwriter of the year — non-classical' category at both the 66th (2024) and 67th (2025) Grammy Awards.
Big Machine Music represents a roster of acclaimed songwriters including Dillon, Laura Veltz and Ryan Hurd. Their works have been featured in releases by global artists such as Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, Carin Leon, The Kid Laroi, Diplo, Demi Lovato and Jessie Murph.

Seoul Mediacity Biennale to embrace the mystical in media art

The 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale, scheduled to kick off on Aug. 26, will bring together 49 artists and collectives under the theme of 'Seance: Technology of Spirit." The term 'seance,' derived from French, refers to an attempt to communicate with spirits. The 13th edition of the biennale, running through Nov. 23 at the Seoul Museum of Art, or SeMA, will be led by Anton Vidokle, artist and founder of e-flux; Hallie Ayres, art historian and curator; and Lukas Brasiskis, curator of video and film at e-flux. The biennale will explore the influence of mystical and spiritual experience on the development of modern and contemporary art. 'It's very significant that many artists have in recent years gravitated towards ways of understanding the world that might offer an alternative to the prevailing systems, which seem at present to be in crisis,' said the curators. Starting with the artistic practice of British artist Georgiana Houghton (1814-1884), who achieved her first mediumistic drawings after attending her first seance in 1859, the exhibition will encompass the influence of shamanism on video art founder Paik Nam-june and German Fluxus artist Joseph Beuys, as well as transcendental experiences depicted in the early experimental films of American artists Maya Deren and Jordan Belson. The biennale will also feature works by contemporary artists engaged with the diverse traditions and themes of the occult, enchantment and magic. The Seoul Mediacity Biennale, launched in 2000 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, has earned international recognition for its experimental engagement with contemporaneous changes within the media landscape of the city, redefining what media is and can be.

Cosmosy takes big bite of New York

Rookie girl group Cosmosy left an impression on New York with a string of promotional activities, according to Sony Music Korea on Monday. In a surprise rendezvous with American weather forecaster and social media presence Nick Kosir, the four bandmates of the girl group danced together to the tune of their debut single, 'Lucky=One.' They took to Times Square for a flash mob along with a local dance crew, even making an appearance on one of the billboards at the city landmark. The group also hosted an exclusive showcase in partnership with Spotify and performed a sample of the unreleased 'Baby Don't Cry=Breaking the Love.' Cosmos, an all-Japanese girl group, debuted as a team of four in April with the single 'Lucky=One.' The music video for the tropical dance tune had attracted over 10 million views on YouTube as of May, as did that for predebut single 'Zigy=Zigy' in January.
