Muscat: Inaugurated under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth recently, 'Action Point' has been engineered to cater to a wide audience – from hobby shooters and competitive marksmen to private security agencies and government entities – in a controlled, immersive, and highly secure environment.
The Special Projects Division of Khimji Ramdas LLC has successfully completed and handed over a state-of-the-art Indoor Shooting Range 'Action Point', a one-of-its-kind world-class sporting facility designed to elevate Oman's standing in shooting sports and tactical training.
'Action Point's – Indoor Shooting Ranges' has been developed by the Special Projects Division of Khimji Ramdas LLC in collaboration with Cubic Technologies Singapore PTE LTD – global leaders in defense training systems. The state-of-the-art Indoor Shooting Range, represents a one-of-its-kind, fully equipped facility that delivers an unparalleled live-fire experience. Located at the Active Oman Centre (Oman Automobile Association), it combines international expertise with local execution, showcasing the Sultanate's commitment to advanced sports infrastructure and youth engagement.
The facility features six specialized shooting ranges: Two 25-meter pistol ranges with retrievable targets for 9mm pistols; one 50-meter tactical range featuring LOMAH (Location of Miss and Hit) target systems; one 100-meter rifle range with retrievable targets for 5.56mm caliber rifles; a globally unique indoor shotgun (skeet/trap) range; an air gun range (currently under development).
All ranges are equipped with smart bullet traps that safely collect projectiles into designated channels, advanced electronic target systems for real-time feedback, and air purification systems that ensure a healthy and safe environment by removing dust and gases generated by shooting.
The facility is designed to cater to a wide spectrum of users – ranging from first-time visitors and hobby shooters to competitive marksmen, private security agencies, and government entities. The experience begins with a comprehensive safety briefing at a dedicated reception and briefing area, followed by closely monitored sessions where each visitor is accompanied by a qualified instructor who ensures safety and provides technical guidance throughout.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Anwar Sadhath, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarkets - Oman, stated, 'This festival is part of Lulu's initiative to strengthen the cultural relations between Oman and India. It will offer local residents and expatriates a taste of India's dynamic cuisines and a window to its vibrant traditions. Shoppers will find an extensive range of authentic Indian grocery products, everyday household essentials, and humble yet much-loved brands from across India, from staple grains, spices, and pickles to traditional products and kitchenware, bringing the essence of Indian homes right into their baskets. To complement the experience, the festival also features authentic Indian apparel, exquisite clothing collections, and traditionally intricate jewelry, adding a fashionable touch to a wholesome Indian shopping journey.' Muscat – H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, launched the second edition of the Military Discipline Programme for school students taking place in Dhofar from July 13 to August 6. The programme is overseen by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) with support from various military, security and relevant government institutions. In a statement, H H Sayyid Theyazin said the programme aligns with national efforts to hone youth skills and channel their energies towards nation-building. This year, it targets 850 students from across Oman through an integrated training programme, focusing on reinforcing values of citizenship, identity and self-discipline via cultural and sports activities and training. H H Sayyid Theyazin affirmed that the programme reflects the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in empowering Omani youth as a national priority and enhancing their active role in development. 'The success of the first edition – evident in the heightened awareness, discipline and responsibility among students – serves as strong motivation to further develop this second edition into a model training programme. It aims to prepare a generation capable of facing future challenges and contributing to the progress of our beloved nation,' H H Sayyid Theyazin stated. MCSY reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that invest in youth potential and instil a spirit of dedication and belonging, supporting Oman's ongoing development and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
