Nice weather Friday; Rain to start Saturday

Yahooa day ago

We've got a beautiful day on the way Friday, with partly to mostly sunny skies, and some high thin cirrus clouds filtering during the afternoon. Temperatures are a little cooler than as of late, only climbing into the middle and upper 60s, about 5 to 10 degrees below average.
As we move towards midnight Saturday morning, a few showers will being to work in from the west. That precipitation becomes more widespread as daybreak approaches. Rainfall totals range between a quarter and a half an inch for most, and we're drying out by Saturday afternoon, although likely holding on to a lot of clouds.
The Father's Day forecast is improving, as high pressure move in from the northwest. Right now I'm thinking skies will be partly sunny with a few spotty afternoon showers.
Temperatures for both weekend days climb to the upper 60s and lower 70s!
Have a great night!

Afternoon Storms to Develop in Maryland Saturday

A few light showers started the day in western Maryland on Saturday. It's a quiet start to the day that doesn't look to end in the same way. Saturday is a possible WJZ Alert Day. The First Alert Weather team will be watching the risk for showers and storms to develop this afternoon, continuing into the evening. Similar to Friday, heavy rain is possible. Last night's storms produced multiple flash flood alerts in Maryland and with the ground still saturated, we could see more of the same on Saturday. Forecast models are calling for 1 inch to possibly 3 inches of rainfall here in Maryland (isolated areas could see up to 5 inches if heavy rain is slow to move out or tracks over a certain area multiple times). A few storms could be on the stronger side, producing gusty winds and possible small hail. Highs on Saturday will be cooler - around 80°. It'll be even cooler on Father's Day. Prepare for highs only in the upper 60s to low 70s Sunday afternoon. Sunday also brings its own rain chance. The upcoming work week doesn't look to completely dry out until maybe closer to AFRAM weekend.

Typical June weather for Father's Day weekend

HONOLULU (KHON2) – Rather typical June trade wind conditions are in place. Broad high pressure north of the state is driving moderate to locally breezy trade winds, and a mid-level ridge overhead is producing very stable conditions with an inversion based between 5,000 and 6,500 ft. As a result, modest showers of mostly a quarter of an inch or less have been focused along windward areas since less night, with the highest totals on the Big Island and Maui. Expect minimal windward rainfall today, and aside from scattered afternoon and evening showers along the Kona slopes of the Big Island, leeward areas will be dry. A weak upper-level low centered west of Kauai will send thin high clouds overhead but will otherwise have no impact on local weather today. Small Craft Advisory until 6 PM HST Sunday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, Big Island Southeast Waters. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
