Malaysian man who assaulted, pulled gun on bodyguards for fasting jailed for six years

Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat found Chung Chee Yang, 47, guilty of wounding the religious feelings of his two Muslim bodyguards with his conduct, as well as exerting criminal intimidation and hurting one of the men by pointing a gun at him.
The court in Klang, Selangor, rejected the application made by Chung's counsel Abdul Hakeem Aiman for a stay of execution of the prison sentence on Friday.
It also ordered the accused to serve an additional 21 months in prison if he failed to pay the fine, and directed him to serve the prison term consecutively from the day of sentencing.
Chung had committed the offence between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on April 13, 2021, by intimidating Mohd Azminizam Zulkepli, 48, with a gun and threatening to harm him for fasting.

For this he was jailed for five years and fined 10,000 ringgit in default of 12 months' imprisonment. He was also slapped with another 10 months' imprisonment and fined 2,000 ringgit in default of three months' jail for causing hurt to the bodyguard.
