Over 1,500 Alva's students participate in International Yoga Day celebrations

Over 1,500 students of different institutions under Alva's Education Foundation, participated in a Mass Yoga demonstration to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on Saturday, June 21, at the Nudisiri Vedike, Vidyagiri in Moodbidri.
The event was organised by Alva's Naturopathy and Yogis Sciences College in collaboration with the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune. The 45-minute demonstration followed the Common Yoga Protocol.
College principal Vanitha Shetty, administrative officer Prajna Alva, Alva's Homeopathy College principal Roshan Pinto, Pharmacy College principal Manjunath Shetty, Physical Education Postgraduate College principal G.R. Madhu, Kannada Medium School Principal Prashanth and others were present.
Excellent Institutions
Students of Excellent Educational Institutions demonstrated Yogasanas and Yoga Nritya to mark the day at the institution premises in Kallabettu, Moodbidri.
Inaugurating the celebrations, institution secretary Rashmitha Jain urged students to perform Yogasanas to make their daily routine smooth. Stating that people in over 180 countries now follow the Yoga, she said India has been the guiding force for Yoga. Institution alumnus Disha Prashanth, institution yoga teacher M. Divya, igh school headmaster Shivaprasad Bhat, vice headmaster Jayasheel Bhandary, CBSE school principal Shriprasad and others were present.

Dhaka [Bangladesh], June 21 (ANI): High Commission of India celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday in Dhaka. Speaking on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma noted that Yoga has become a way of life for millions around the world, with Yoga connecting them across borders, cultures and beliefs. High Commissioner said that Yoga's universality was captured in this year's theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' which symbolized Yoga's role as a connector between individual wellness and global sustainability. He noted, 'As we commemorate this year's International Day of Yoga, we are reminded of the enduring bonds of cultural affinity between our two countries, their strong historical and people-to-people ties, and their relationship founded on the shared sacrifices during Bangladesh's Liberation War of 1971'. High Commissioner hoped that Yoga will be yet another unifying bond between the peoples of the two countries in their shared pursuit of wellness and harmony. In her remarks, Director of Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre Ann Mary George said that this was the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga. It was in September 2014 that the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi proposed declaring an International Day of Yoga during his address at the United Nations General Assembly. Soon afterwards, in December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly, by consensus, declared June 21 to be celebrated as the International Day of Yoga every year. The event included participation by a large number of Yoga enthusiasts fromBangladesh who participated in a practice session based on the Common Yoga Protocol. Many prominent Yoga institutions of Bangladesh also presented Yoga demonstrations highlighting the benefits of Yoga. Senior Yoga practitioners over the age of 70 were felicitated at the event. Besides Yoga enthusiasts and institutions, the event was attended by a number of eminent cultural personalities, artists, media persons, professionals, scholars and youths of Bangladesh. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], June 21 (ANI): The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great enthusiasm and participation at Kendriya Vidyalaya, NTPC, New Delhi Themed 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' the event was titled Yoga Sangam, symbolizing the unifying power of yoga for holistic well-being, a press release said. Hitesh Shankar, current editor-in-chief of Panchjanya was the Chief Guest; Akhileshwar Jha, Principal K V School was the special Guest for the celebrations. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala. Director I/C AIIA; Prof (Dr) Mahesh Vyas, Dean Ph.D; Prof.(Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Dean PG; Dr M M Rao, M.S, AIIA; Dr Shiv Kr. Harti, HoD Swasthavritta & Yoga Dept and others. The Departments of Swasthavritta and Yoga formally launched a book titled Management of Non-Communicable Diseases through Yoga and Diet. This significant publication underscores the integrative approach of Yoga and Ayurveda in addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through therapeutic yoga and diet. The book serves as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, researchers, scholars, and the general public, aiming to promote evidence-based lifestyle modifications for holistic well-being. AIIA, Delhi, formally inaugurated a Yoga Park on Saturday. This dedicated space has been established to promote the regular practice of yoga & to encourage a holistic approach to health and well-being among scholars, staff, and the wider community. Around 2000 people joined PM Modi through live session from Vishakhapatnam and Common Yoga Protocol at Kendriya Vidhyala NTPC campus. In another event, the All India Institute of Ayurveda along with Supreme Court of India organised a special yoga session at the premises of the Supreme Court today. Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Judges of the Supreme Court along with the Director (I/C) AIIA Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala and AIIA staff participated the event. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, commemorated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great enthusiasm and participation at the Indoor Stadium, Sports Authority of Goa Complex, Peddem, Mapusa along with hundreds of participants. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Geeta Suresh Nagvenkar, Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa. The session was presided over by Prof. Dr Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa. Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 21 (ANI): Union Minister of State (MoS) Railways and Food Processing Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Yoga becoming a 'global brand'. 'With the vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has become truly a global brand. India's ancient tradition has transitioned into wellness movement across the globe,' Bittu posted on X. On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, he explained the significance of yoga and said that it connects health with 'Mother Earth'. Speaking to reporters after partaking in the Yoga Day celebrations at Sukhna Lake here, Bittu said that Yoga is crucial for people's mental and physical well-being. He talked about the relationship between Yoga, health and the earth, stating that it was important to keep the earth healthy in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. 'Yoga is very important for our mental and physical well-being. It brings a lot of freshness to our lives. It connects our health with Mother Earth since it feeds us and provides us with grains. If the Earth is not healthy, we will also remain unhealthy. People are performing Yoga globally to lead a healthy lifestyle. The government has taken many steps to promote Yoga,' Bittu told reporters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, hailing yoga as a gift 'beyond age' that transcends all boundaries and unites humanity in 'health and harmony.' The event took place against the scenic backdrop of the Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations. The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government and extended his appreciation to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for hosting the event in Visakhapatnam. He lauded their leadership as 'inspiring' and described the state's initiative to promote yoga as 'commendable.' Over three lakh individuals joined him for a mass yoga session in the coastal city, reinforcing this year's message that 'yoga belongs to everyone' and brings the world together. The Prime Minister recalled India's initiative at the United Nations in 2014 to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day, a move that received wide global support in record time. The Prime Minister also shared glimpses from the event held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, saying the day highlighted how yoga 'unites' the world. In a post on X, PM Modi said, 'Yoga unites the world! Glad to see immense enthusiasm all across the planet for International Day of Yoga.' 'I took part in a Yoga Day programme in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. People from all walks of life also joined. Here are some glimpses,' the post reads. Meawhile, renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik created a striking sand sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing Ustrasana (Camel Pose) at Puri Beach. Below the sculpture, the theme for this year, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', was written. Pattnaik's sand art highlighted the significance of yoga, promoting awareness about its benefits for mental peace and well-being. His creations are typically accompanied by vibrant colors and intricate designs. (ANI)
