The Sea Robbers kick things off against another MTN8 semi-finalist, Sekhukhune.
'Nkota is already a better player after leaving Pirates'
TWO more players leave the club
Orlando Stadium is the venue as Pirates and Sekhukhune do battle on Saturday, 9 August at 17:30. The Sea Robbers have a new skipper too.
29-year-old Nkosinathi Sibisi will wear the captain's armband at Pirates in 2025-2026. He was a key figure last season alongside breakout star Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the heart of defence after Thabiso Sesane was struck down with a long-term injury. What happens when Sesane returns will be fascinating, as he might even dislodge the new captain. That's a nice problem for new boss Ouaddao to have, though. Sibisi made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, including 25 in the league.

I wasn't really close to joining Chiefs, says new Sundowns star

Newly-signed Mamelodi Sundowns star Fawaaz Basadien has revealed that he was never close to joining Kaizer Chiefs. Basadien was a top performer for Stellenbosch FC last season, and speculation around his future was rife. Basadien was speaking to Robert Marawa on MSW on 947 where he revealed that he always wanted to join Sundowns. Nonetheless, the left-footed player admitted that there were behind-the-scene talks for him to move to Chiefs but nothing came out of those.
