EXO's Kai kicks off first solo world tour 'Kaion'
Kai wrapped up the Seoul leg of his first-ever solo world tour under the banner of "Kaion," marking a significant career milestone.
Held at the Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Saturday and Sunday, the two performances drew over 9,000 fans combined. The two shows marked Kai's first solo concerts since debuting with EXO 13 years ago and as a solo artist five years ago. It was also his first major performance since he was discharged in February from his mandatory military service, which he fulfilled through social service.
"Kaion" is a blend of 'Kai,' 'On,' and the Greek word 'Aion,' meaning 'eternity.' 'It symbolizes the beginning of eternity for the Kai you see on stage,' he shared. 'I want to continue performing with you forever.'
The concert followed a narrative of Kai discovering an unfamiliar version of himself, reflecting and ultimately transforming into a new self. Dressed in elegant red, he opened the show with 'Sinner,' portraying an intense encounter with his reflection in the mirror, followed by powerful renditions of 'Mmmh' and 'Nothing on Me.'
EXO's main dancer, Kai exhibited impeccable control and dynamics throughout the show. During the performance of 'Slidin',' the floor shifted into a slope resembling a slide, facilitating his sensual, smooth choreography.
Kai also made sure to honor his EXO roots with a medley dance of 'My Lady,' 'Baby Don't Cry' and 'Angel,' during which fans filled in the vocals with a singalong.
As the stage tilted like a turntable, the second part of the concert began — depicting Kai discovering his many selves. He performed across a range of genres, including 'Peaches,' 'Come In' and his new track 'Wait on Me.' Notably, he shared the stage with Bada, leader of dance crew Bebe, for captivating duet performances of 'Vanilla' and 'Adult Swim.'
In the final segment, dressed in stunning all-black leather, Kai brought the concert to its climax with sensual performances of 'Confession,' 'Domino' and 'Rover.' Of the 23 songs performed, the only one performed without choreography was an encore performance of 'Blue,' as Kai focused on presenting his strength in intensity.
'It's been two years since I last stood on stage, and honestly, I was afraid. I wanted to show my best, but time was limited and there were many struggles,' Kai confessed during the finale. 'But during those tough times, my fans gave me strength.'
He also hinted at a full return for EXO, saying, 'Our youngest, Sehun, will soon be discharged. EXO's military hiatus is coming to an end. Nothing can stop us now.'
Kai is set to continue his "Kaion" tour across 10 cities in Asia, including Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Macao, Indonesian capital Jakarta, Singapore, Taiwan capital Taipei, Manila in the Philippines, Bangkok, Yokohama in Japan and Hong Kong.

EXO's Chanyeol to return as solo singer: report

10CM to return with 5th LP, new concert
Singer begins comeback promotions with prerelease track Thursday Singer-songwriter 10CM, also known by his real name Kwon Jeong-yeol, has released a single ahead of his new full-length album. On Thursday, 10CM unveiled 'Follow Your Steps,' featuring singer-songwriter Bibi. The track is from his upcoming fifth album "5.0," which is set to be released on July 30. 'Follow Your Steps' captivates with its catchy melody and striking guitar riff, evoking the mood of a summer night. The dreamy and light vocals of 10CM blend harmoniously with Bibi's unique tone. The concept poster released alongside the track features the two singers standing face to face on a lit stage. "5.0" is 10CM's first full-length album in almost eight years. According to his agency CAM, the 12 songs will showcase a variety of emotions, each telling an independent story enriched with 10CM's signature subtle sensitivity and straightforward perspective. Following the album release, 10CM will hold solo concerts on Aug. 9 and 10 at the Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul. 10CM debuted in March 2010 with a self-produced album "10cm The First EP." Originally a duo, the band became a one man band after guitarist Yoon Cheol-jong left the team due to personal reasons.

Soprano Hwang Sumi offers self-curated 'Soundtrack' trilogy ― song, opera, cinema
Acclaimed soprano steps beyond stage to shape Lotte Concert Hall's signature matinee program, offering distinct musical experiences In the latter half of 2025, soprano Hwang Sumi will take the reins of Lotte Concert Hall's matinee series as both curator and performer. Titled 'Soundtrack,' the three-part concert series will showcase the artist's range across the classical, operatic and cinematic genres ― each installment exploring a different facet of the 39-year-old soprano's musical identity. For the internationally renowned soprano and respected educator, the project marks a meaningful expansion of her role. 'I've always appeared on stage solely as a performer. But for this series, I was also in charge of programming and casting, which was a big challenge,' Hwang said during a press conference Thursday at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul. 'Because the concerts are under my name, I feel a responsibility to give audiences a truly sincere and fulfilling performance.' The series opens on Sept. 18 with a program titled 'Song,' designed to be both sophisticated and approachable. The repertoire includes Clara Schumann's "Ich Stand in Dunklen Traumen" ("I Stand in Darkness"), Robert Schumann's "Widmung" ("Dedication") and Reynaldo Hahn's "Si Mes Vers Avaient Des Ailes" ("If My Verses Had Wings"). Hwang will be joined by tenor Kim Woo-kyung and pianist An Jong-do. On Oct. 16, the spotlight turns to "Opera." Hwang ― who gained early recognition in Europe before her 2014 Queen Elisabeth Competition win, and became the only East Asian soloist at Bonn Opera House ― will lead a concert version of Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutte" ("So Do They All"), joined by a cast of fellow opera singers. The final concert, 'Cinema,' on Nov. 20, features musical actor Kai, a classically trained baritone. Hwang revealed that during her college years at Seoul National University, she once considered a path in musical theater and had even sought Kai's advice at the time. 'Many people think I only do traditional classical music, but with this matinee series, I want to show another side of myself. These days, especially in Korea, the lines between classical and nonclassical music are becoming increasingly blurred," she said. "As a performer, I have many things I want to explore on stage. But as an educator, I'm also aware that my choices can influence my students ― so I try to be selective about the stages I take.' Beyond her versatility, Hwang remains steadfast in her artistic principles. 'If a role doesn't suit my voice and abilities, I simply turn it down,' she said. "When I was in Europe, I was often asked to play Cio-Cio San in 'Madama Butterfly' ― likely because I'm Asian. It would have been a fast track to fame, but I turned down every offer because of the vocal and physical strain. I want to preserve my voice and perform for many years." All concerts begin at 11:30 AM and run for 70 minutes. Tickets range from 10,000 won to 45,000 won.
