Harkh BDO office mourns loss of staff members

Time of India08-08-2025
Lucknow: The close-knit community of Harkh block development office plunged into mourning as the news of the accident that claimed the lives of their two staff members reached them.
It was in the morning when block development officer Preeti Singh received a call from the police. The news was grim: Some of her colleagues were among the victims of the accident.
Rushing to the scene, Preeti was confronted with a sight that no one should ever have to endure. There, amidst the chaos, lay the lifeless bodies of Meena Srivastava (45) and Juhi Saxena (28), two assistant development officers whose presence was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them.
For Malvita, the daughter of Meena, the loss was a cruel twist of fate. Already having endured the heartache of losing her father six years ago, she now faced the unimaginable reality of a world without her mother.
Meena was a beacon of resilience, securing a job under the dependent quota to provide for her family. Now, Malvita was left to navigate the world without the guiding light of her parents.
Juhi, the vibrant daughter of senior lawyer Madan Mohan Saxena, had her own dreams and aspirations, dreams that were tragically cut short. Unmarried and full of promise, her untimely passing left a community grappling with the senselessness of it all. The tragedy extended its reach to Shiksha Mehrotra, a dedicated teacher whose life was intertwined with the hopes of her students at Kadirpur School in Siddhaur Block.
Rakeebul Nishan, a resident of Amethi, was returning home with her family from a spiritual journey to Deva shrine when fate intervened so cruelly.

Representative Image NEW DELHI: A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 66-year-old mother twice in central Delhi's Hauz Qazi, police said on Sunday. The woman, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, approached the Hauz Qazi police station and filed a complaint. "When the family returned, the son allegedly locked his mother in a room, beat her up and threatened her. A few days later he again confined her in a room and raped her, claiming he was 'punishing her' for her past conduct," the senior police officer added. The traumatised woman initially stayed silent and reportedly slept in her daughter's room for safety. However, recently the accused allegedly assaulted her again. The woman confided in her daughter, who persuaded her to approach the police. A case under Section 64 (rape) of BNS has been registered, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is on, police said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Man murdered, stuffed in adrum in Khairthal-Tijara dist

1 2 Alwar: In a chilling reminder of the infamous Meerut murder case, body of a married man aged around 35 was found stuffed in a 'blue drum' on the rooftop of his rented accommodation in Kishangarh Bas town of Khairthal-Tijara district, Sunday. The murdered man's wife, the couple's three children and the landlord's son have been missing since Saturday, police said. The gruesome discovery was made by the landlord's wife, Mithlesh, who was alerted by a foul odour emanating from the drum. The body, identified as that of Hansraj, aka Suraj, was covered in salt, allegedly to accelerate decomposition. Hansraj, originally from Khandepur village in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, had been residing in the rented accommodation at Adarsh Colony for approximately six weeks and was employed at a local brick kiln. The discovery sent shockwaves through the colony, as the case bears a striking resemblance to a previous incident in Meerut, UP, where a similar method was used to conceal the murder of a Merchant Navy officer, allegedly by his wife in Feb this year. Khairthal-Tijara SP Manish Chaudhary said, "Hansraj was murdered and his body was placed in the drum with salt. This was a premeditated murder. The deceased's wife and other individuals are being sought. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The case will be solved soon." Police have launched a full-scale investigation following the discovery. Kishangarh Bas DySP Rajendra Singh Nirwan, along with station officer Jitendra Singh Shekhawat and assistant SI Gyanchand, reached the crime scene to conduct a thorough inspection. The deceased's family in UP has been notified and the body has been transferred to the govt hospital mortuary in Kishangarh Bas. The investigation took a complex turn after Hansraj's wife, Sunita, and their three children — Harshal, Nandini, and Golu — were found missing. Additionally, landlord Rajesh's son, Jitendra, who had rented the room to Hansraj, is also missing. Jitendra, whose wife passed away 12 years ago, was known to frequently drink with Hansraj, police said. The landlord's wife said she found Sunita and her children missing when she returned from Janmashtami celebrations on Saturday. Jitendra also failed to return home that evening. The following morning, the odour led her to inspect the drum on the rooftop and to call the police control room. Dy SP Nirwan confirmed that Hansraj's throat had been slit with a sharp weapon, indicating foul play. Police are pursuing leads to uncover the motive behind the murder and locate the missing family members. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
