Manchester United bid to break Bryan Mbeumo deadlock with improved offer for 25-year-old Brentford forward
Ruben Amorim is eager to have the Cameroon international on United's pre-season tour of the US and hopes a third bid will be enough to persuade Brentford to sell.
United made an opening bid of £45m with a further £10m in add ons at the start of June but were told that was nowhere near Brentford's valuation of a player they deemed to be worth more than the £62.5 million the Manchester club had just paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha.
They then raised their offer to £55 million with an additional £7.5m in add ons only for Brentford to also reject that bid a month ago.
Brentford are understood to have wanted more money upfront and a total package that reached at least £70m.

United's move to now offer a guaranteed sum worth £20m more than their initial bid may raise questions among some fans about why they started the bidding so low given the Cunha fee had effectively set a benchmark for any prospective deal for Mbeumo.
Amorim and his squad are due to fly to Chicago on Tuesday for the start of their pre-season tour of the US, where they will be taking part in the Premier League Summer Series with Everton, Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Amorim has been eager to address United's chronic shortage of goals – they managed just 44 in 38 Premier League games last season.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and claimed seven assists for Brentford last season, would further bolster United's attacking options.
The 25-year-old – who has reported back for pre-season with Brentford – is entering the final 12 months of his contract, although the club have an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
Tottenham, who are now managed by Thomas Frank, Mbeumo's former coach at Brentford, also wanted Mbeumo but he made it clear his sights were set on a move to United.
Amorim would also like to add a striker, central midfielder and centre-back this summer but United need to sell to raise funds to reinvest.

Man Utd in Nicolas Jackson transfer boost with Chelsea striker snubbing two European giants to stay in Premier League
MANCHESTER UNITED have received a boost in the chase for Nicolas Jackson after he snubbed two European giants - but they will have to pay Chelsea £80m for the striker. The Senegalese ace has already turned down offers from Napoli and AC Milan in preference of staying in the Premier League. 5 Nicolas Jackson now has a fight on his hands to keep his Chelsea spot Credit: Getty 5 Jackson first came to the limelight when playing under Unai Emery Credit: Getty 5 Jackson could be set for a shock exit from Chelsea this summer Jackson has seen his once-undisputed starting spot at Liam Delap , who turned down a move to Old Trafford in favour of joining Stamford Bridge . Cole Palmer stole the show to lead Chelsea to Club World Cup victory. Jackson's misery was compounded by the fact that he was left on the bench for the entire 90 minutes of that historic win —perhaps as punishment for being sent off twice in his previous four appearances for the club. READ MORE ON MAN UTD The former AC Milan have also made their intentions clear, though sources say the player loves playing in England and would prefer to stay in the Premier League if he were to move. He still has seven years remaining on his current deal and Chelsea would ideally like to have two No9s competing for minutes and pushing each other to the limit. But the transfer window is very fluid and a project like that of Manchester United's could be of interest to the player. And if the £80m valuation is met, it could tempt Chelsea into a sale. Most read in Football BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 5 Aston Villa manager Unai Emery still has a special relationship with Jackson from their time together at Villarreal. He is a big fan of the forward's ability to link up play and sources have told SunSport that Villa have asked to be informed if the player becomes available. Chelsea hunting Morgan Rogers as Garnacho and £100m Jackson wanted by Villa | Transfers Exposed Last season, Jackson bagged ten league goals from 30 games and provided five assists as Chelsea finished fourth and secured Champions League football . He was also on target as they came from behind to beat Real Betis and win the UEFA Conference League. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca expressed confidence in Jackson last season when he said he would like to "clone" the striker if the club were to sign another forward. Speaking in a press conference in April, he said: 'With Nico, we are a completely different team compared to when he was injured. We are happy with Nico as our striker. " My perfect No9 is exactly Nico Jackson. We already have a No9. It's not the summer now. If we can have a copy of Nico, it's OK. With Nico, we are a better team. Nico is the one we need.' Jackson is currently back in Senegal for his holidays after a long season but there should be clarity over his long-term future in the coming weeks. 5

Liverpool agree €92m deal for Hugo Ekitike, taking spending to almost €350m
Liverpool are to take their summer spending to almost €350 million after agreeing to pay €80m plus €11.5m in add-ons for the Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Ekitike emerged as the Premier League champions' favoured number nine after they received no encouragement regarding their interest in Newcastle's Alexander Isak. Liverpool accelerated talks with Eintracht late last week, having been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the player. The £10m in add-ons for the France under-21 international relate to individual and club achievements. The deal amounts to €91m, €9m less than the €100m release clause in the forward's contract. Ekitike is set to become the champions' seventh signing of an ambitious summer transfer window, after Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman. READ MORE The 23-year-old Frenchman has agreed a six-year contract in principle and is expected to join Arne Slot's squad later this week on their 10-day pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan. Liverpool arrived in Hong Kong on Monday in advance of their friendly against Milan on Saturday. Ekitike is scheduled to undergo a medical in the UK on Tuesday before finalising his contract and flying to Hong Kong. Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes, and members of their medical staff remained in the UK to complete the transfer. Ekitike scored 22 goals and made 12 assists in all competitions last season, his first in the Bundesliga, as Eintracht qualified for the Champions League. He emerged as a leading transfer target this summer for Newcastle, who had a £70m bid rejected last week, but made it clear his preference was to join Slot's side. - Guardian
