Sophie Nyweide death update as police investigate 'foul play'
Police investigating the death of actress Sophie Nyweide are not ruling out foul play, it has been reported. The former child actress - who has worked with a string of Hollywood names - was found dead at the age of 24.
Sophie was best known for playing the daughter of Michelle Williams and Gael García Bernal 's characters in the 2009 romantic drama Mammoth and in a moving statement, her family paid a heartbreaking tribute to Sophie.
"Sophie was a kind and trusting girl. Often this left her open to being taken advantage of by others. She wrote and drew voraciously, and much of this art depicts the depth she had, and it also represents the pain she suffered. Many of her writings and artwork are roadmaps of her struggles and traumas," they shared.
"Even with those roadmaps, diagnoses and her own revelations, those closest to her, plus therapists, law enforcement officers and others who tried to help her, are heartbroken their efforts couldn't save her from her fate.
"She self-medicated to deal with all the trauma and shame she held inside, and it resulted in her death. She repeatedly said she would 'handle it' on her own and was compelled to reject the treatment that might possibly have saved her life."
It is now being reported by TMZ that Bennington Police have said that Sophie's body was found not far from a high school in the town at around 4am on April 14. She was declared dead at the scene.
According to police, her body was found near a lean-to and nothing has been ruled out in relation to her death. An autopsy is still said to be pending as well as a toxicology report. A man was allegedly with Sophie when she died but he is said to be cooperating with police and isn't considered to be a suspect or a person of interest.
Police are said to be looking at a range of causes including foul play after Sophie was found on a riverbank. Other people were said to be hanging out with Sophie at the lean-to before her death and police want to track them down for interviews. Sophie is believed to have visited the lean-to on multiple occasions but she did not live there.
Sophie landed her first movie in 2006, a production called Bella, and she also notably starred as the young daughter of a mum who had cancer in the 2010 film Invisible Sign. She also appeared in 2007 movies, And Then Came Love and New York Serenade.

Sophie Turner broke up celeb couple as she's accused of flirting with A-lister's fiancé
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has revealed she caused the break up of a celebrity couple after making one gesture at a glitzy showbiz bash that ended in an awkward confrontation Sophie Turner has boldly admitted she was to blame for breaking up a celebrity couple following a run-in at a lavish party. The Game of Thrones actress, 29, shocked fans with the wild confession as she laid it all bare. She decided to make the revelation while on Late Night with Seth Meyers as she reminisced about her first meeting with the TV host. Sophie said they met over a decade ago at San Diego Comic-Con but confessed her night "quickly went south". The actress said she headed to the event's after party and was excited to let her hair down. It comes after Andy Carroll 'splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands' weeks after public row. "And that was it," Sophie said. However, things didn't end there. Sophie continued: "And then later on I see this girl looking at me and she's a famous actress and I was like 'I have to go tell her how much she means to me'. "So I dance on over and she goes, 'Can you stop f****** flirting with my fiance?' And I was like, 'Who's your fiancé?' And she points to the guy that I waved at and I still have no idea who this man is." Sophie shockingly revealed: "Turns out, they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]. I didn't realise I held this power." Earlier this week, Sophie issued a savage response after she was mum-shamed over her kids. She shares daughters, Willa, four, and Delphine, two, with her ex-husband, Joe Jonas. Sophie, who is reportedly back with her on/off boyfriend, aristocrat, Peregrine Pearson, co-parents her kids with Joe, who lives in LA. However, she was accused of 'forgetting' about her daughters by a troll online. Sharing a photo of herself at Oasis' gig in London, the Sansa Stark star wrote: "Bucket hats and beers. That'll do me. Thank you @Levis." Responding to Sophie, one of her followers said: "Lmfao I think she has forgotten that she has two kids." Yet, Sophie shot back: "Ah, I'm so sorry, sometimes, I forget some people can't think for themselves. So, get this... There's this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day." Sophie was married to Joe from 2019 to 2023 before the singer filed for divorce in September 2023, which kick-started a lengthy and messy custody battle.

Sophie Turner reveals how she broke up a Hollywood couple's engagement
Sophie Turner has recalled the time when an innocent gesture apparently resulted in an A-list Hollywood couple calling off their engagement. The Game of Thrones star, 29, rose to fame on the American fantasy series, playing series heroine Sansa Stark throughout all eight seasons between 2011 and 2019. Between 2019 and 2024, she was married to Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers – with which she shares two children – and has rubbed shoulders with the top brass in Hollywood for some time now. But rubbing shoulders apparently isn't all Sophie did – she now claims to have broken up a high-profile couple, if her latest confession on Late Night with Seth Meyers is to be believed. The Northampton-born actress appeared on the late night talk show to promote her brand new movie The Dreadful, which she stars in alongside fellow Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington. During their conversation, Sophie and Seth both reflected on the first time they met each other, which was at the San Diego Comic Con afterparty in 2014. 'We were going to have a great night,' she began. 'And then – I really can't name names or I'll get in a lot of trouble. But I brought my best friend from my school days with me. 'She saw an actor she absolutely loved and [she asked me] if I could just say hello [on her behalf],' Sophie explained, also revealing that she'd never seen this actor before in her life and that she didn't recognise him. 'I didn't know this actor so I just [waved] and that was it. But then, later on, I saw this girl looking at me, and she was a famous actress. I had to go and tell [this actress] how much she means to me.' But when Sophie walked over, that's when things turned bad. 'I danced over and this actress said, 'Can you stop flirting with my fiancé?' So I ask who her fiancé was, and she pointed at the guy I'd waved at. I have no idea who this man is, but it turns out they broke their engagement off that night.' She laughed: '[Apparently] because of my wave. I didn't realise I held this power. [I said to my school friend] 'Look what you did!' It's not clear who the couple was, but since Sophie's story went out several online sleuths have been aiming to piece together the clues and uncover the true story. More Trending This latest story from Sophie comes just days after she was criticised – and then immediately hit back – for apparently 'forgetting' her children at an Oasis concert. After she posted a photo of herself and a friend at a recent Gallagher brothers show on social media, her followers 'reminded' the actress of her daughters Willa and Delphine. From Love Triangles To Baby Names - Everything You Need To Know About The Love Is Blind UK Couples
Love Is Blind season two might have only just landed on Netflix, but if you're anything like us, you will be dying to know which couples are still making it work on the outside. We've seen love triangles; indecision; back and forth, shared values and intense chemistry - which is all part of the package when you throw 30 singletons together and ask them to blindly date. Five couples have got engaged but chosen to go their separate ways, which means another five remain together. But will their relationships stand the test of time before their weddings in just a few weeks? Yes, Kal and Sarover are still very much together as it stands - although they could face some challenges late down the line. They instantly hit things off in the pod, with Kal even saying he couldn't get enough of Sarover's 'lovely little posh accent.' They faced an initial hurdle when it came to their backgrounds, and what their families might think of their growing relationship. When they met in person, things went smoothly - which as viewers know, is half the battle on the show. However, cracks began to show when Sarover expressed insecurity that she wasn't Kal's usual type, which according to his dating history is white and blonde women. Hopefully these two can overcome this hurdle! These two formed an instant connection, and even became the first couple to get engaged on the show. After their initial spark, they even got deeper with each other, opening up about their backgrounds and how that has shaped the partner they want today. However, a small hurdle happened when they discussed their careers - and how conflicting schedules might impact a relationship later down the line. Ashleigh is cabin crew on an aircraft and Billy is in the army. But when they met, their physical connection was undeniable and there was instant chemistry - particularly on their vacation in Cyprus. We've got every faith these two can go the extra mile. Unlike some of the other couples, it wasn't always smooth sailing for Sophie and Kieran. They became involved in a love triangle early on when Kieran was also getting to know Sophie. However, after a few dates he felt that he and Megan shared a deeper connection, while Sophie had a harder time getting deep. He affirmed that Sophie was the one when he bought her a present from Japan. However this led Sophie to feel hurt, and tell Megan about her relationship with Kieran. When Megan was confused, he reassured her 'I only want to do the rest of this journey with you.' Aww. Sophie left the experiment and Kieran ended up proposing to Megan. So far, so good - but with a return from Sophie on the cards, things might not be plain sailing for too long. Jed and Bardha instantly hit it off in the pod due to connecting over their life goals. They both want to build a family and agreed it was important to honour their heritages. They shared a number of deep stories with each other, discussed baby names and their connection grew so strong that Jed proposed. In Cyprus, the pair's connection only went from strength to strength, and they both feel confident they will fit right in with each other's families. So far, so good. But in a teaser for the upcoming episode, there could be some drama on the horizon, as Bardha is seen confessing to her girlfriend's that the couple had an argument. Watch this space to see how it plays out. Katisha and Javen instantly hit it off in the pods, with family values racing to the top of their priority list. However, there was a spanner in the works in the form of (yes, another) love triangle. Katisha was also forming a bond with Demola, and found herself torn between the two men. After back and forth between the two, initially choosing Demola, Katisha pivoted back to Javen. The pair started dating, and became one of the last couples to get engaged - with things taking off in Cyprus. However, this hasn't stopped outsiders weighing in on the dynamic - namely Kal, who had a problem with how Katisha behaved with Demola. In the teaser, Kal even goes on to confront Javen about this too. Can their relationship survive the strain of the outside world? Alice Hall is the Staff Writer at Grazia UK.
