New York Giants draft Cameron Skattebo: 5 things to know about the running back
The New York Giants selected Arizona State running back Cameron Skattebo with the third pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft (105th overall) on Saturday afternoon in Green Bay.
Let's get this part out of the way before we continue. His name is pronounced SKAT-UH-BOO.
Here are five things to know about the latest addition to Big Blue:
He's a 'jack of all trades'
Skattebo is a player who can do many things. He began his college career at Sacramento State. In 2022 he was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Big Sky. Skattebo ranked eighth in the FCS with 1,373 rushing yards (196 carries, 7.0 yards per carry, and seven touchdowns), playing in all 13 games with 12 starts. He also caught 31 passes for 371 yards (a 12.0, average) with three receiving touchdowns.
He runs with 'downhill violence'
You have to see it to believe it. Skattebo is a throwback to the days of Larry Csonka, Norm Bulaich, and Sam 'the Bam' Cunningham. He's physical. If there's no room to run, he'll simply make some. A true battering ram that will help the Giants establish the run early and in short-yardage situations.
He's built like a fullback but runs like a halfback
Skattebo is a pile-pusher when he needs to be but can also run by people, whatever the occasion calls for. He checks in at 5-foot-9 and change and 220 pounds. If you're looking for a new fan favorite, this could be your guy.
He aced the predraft process
Skattebo participated at the NFL Combine in February and had a very strong showing. He did not do the 40-yard dash but did many of the other drills. He had the second-highest production score (93) among running backs at the combine and also ranked second overall in his position group.
Skattebo did run the 40 at his pro day, clocking in at 4.53 and 4.57 seconds. His speed isn't scaring anyone but ask anyone who's ever had to tackle him if that matters.
Pro comparisons
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein compares Skattebo to Pittsburgh's Jaylen Warren. Former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger compares him to the Lions' David Montgomery, citing his ability to break tackles and maintain "contact balance."

Ranking NFL's Top Offensive Triplets: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Ranking NFL's Top Offensive Triplets: Tampa Bay Buccaneers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In a recent ranking report, a national outlet took a deep dive into the top offensive triplet groups in the league. Advertisement The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come in as the highest-ranked team in the NFC South, and - surprise respect! - the 10th-overall ranked triplet group. Let's dig deeper in to the trio a bit closer … Quarterback Baker Mayfield is entering his third season with the Buccaneers as their starting quarterback. The former Heisman trophy winner, and number one pick in the 2018 NFL draft seems to have found a home in Tampa, and continues to impress. He has thrown for over 8,500 yards in two seasons, and has added 69 touchdowns to his career totals in those two years as well. Mayfield has always shown an aggressive nature when it comes to slinging the football. Former Super Bowl winning quarterback for the Buccaneers, Tom Brady, even said this about Baker Mayfield, Advertisement "Man, he can rip the ball,' Brady has said. Running Back The Buccaneers did not have their leading rusher for the team even slotted into the starting position. Former Oregon Duck running back Bucky Irving surpassed Rachaad White in his rookie season. He would finish tenth in the league, rushing for 1,122 yards, and would take on 8 touchdowns as well. He is definitely prime to have a big sophomore season, especially with all of the weapons that this offense has to spread the field. Wide Receiver Over the last 11 seasons, there have been few wide receivers who have been as productive or consistent in their production than Mike Evans. He posted his 11th consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season in dramatic fashion. Advertisement He is almost certain to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. He should be poised for another big season this year with the return of Godwin, and the drafting of Emeka Egbuka. That should open up some windows for Evans to have another big year. A lot of eyes will be on these triplets going into this season to see if they can continue in their productive ways - 'productive' as in top-10 in the NFL. Bill Belichick's return to the sidelines took a shocking twist in December when he accepted the job at the University of North Carolina over a return to the NFL but before his new journey gets underway, one insider believes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have an eye on him. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When it became clear that Bill Belichick wanted to return to coaching, many assumed that would be on an NFL sideline. After all, the future Hall of Famer has won a record eight Super Bowls, seven of which came with the New England Patriots over the last two decades. Advertisement Belichick mastered the job, but instead of trying out his success with another franchise, he pivoted to the college game and became the head coach at the University of North Carolina. A fascinating turn certainly and his Tar Heels will be one of the biggest stories this season in the sport. However, speculation remains about his interest in the position long term. If somehow the call back to the NFL grows too loud to ignore, there is one spot fans should keep an eye on, according to PFT's Mike Florio. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be that team to watch depending on how current head coach Todd Bowles performs this season. "Much of it depends on what the Bucs do (or don't do) in 2025, and what the Tar Heels do (or don't do) in 2025. Still, with Belichick's buyout down to $1 million as of last Sunday, let's not assume no one at the NFL level will want Belichick. Advertisement "The Bucs have the talent; if ownership decides that an excellent game-day coach could get them back to the top of the mountain, it's not as nutty as it may seem." Bowles has progressed his win total each season with the Bucs, continuing their streak of NFC South titles which is now up to four. Those successes have admittedly come in part to a very watered down division of late, needing only eight, nine and then 10 wins in 2024 to retain the crown. Tampa Bay has remained competitive even after Tom Brady's retirement much in part to Baker Mayfield's career revival since joining the team. General manager Jason Licht has responded by continually adding talent through the draft and free agency to keep the machine churning. Given Bowles' slow progress a step too far back or a continuation of his first three seasons may cause the franchise to reevaluate their needs with the job, Belichick or not. Advertisement His buyout now significantly reduced, the door to a return has creaked open ever so slightly. As of now, there is no smoke to the fire, but if Belichick changes course within the next year, Tampa Bay would be a spot hard to turn down in his position. Arizona Cardinals C Hjalte Froholdt a top-10 center per PFF

Arizona Cardinals C Hjalte Froholdt a top-10 center per PFF PFF ranks Hjalte Froholdt as the No. 10 center in the NFL in 2025 Arizona Cardinals center Hjalte Froholdt has been a revelation since he was signed in 2023. Signed two a two-year deal after only starting six games in three previous seasons and immediately stepped into the starting center role. He signed a two-year extension at the start of last season. According to PFF's center rankings entering 2025, he is a top-10 center in the league, coming in at No. 10. Since landing in Arizona in 2023, Froholdt has continued to elevate his game each season. His 76.1 PFF overall grade ranked in the top five among qualifying centers this past season, powered largely by his ability as a run blocker. Froholdt is a mauler in gap concepts, where his 82.9 PFF run-blocking grade in 2024 ranked fourth at the position. His pass-blocking efficiency last season was 98.0%, allowing three sacks and 22 total pressures all season. It's been a long time since the Cardinals had what most would call a top-10 center.
