The latest earnings call from Booking Holdings paints a picture of robust financial growth and strategic advancements, particularly in the realms of AI and the Connected Trip vision. Despite facing some challenges in the US market and geopolitical concerns, the overall sentiment was optimistic, highlighting the company's strong position and future potential.
Strong Financial Performance
The company reported a significant increase in financial metrics, with adjusted EBITDA rising by 28% year-over-year and adjusted EPS growing by 32%. Revenue exceeded expectations with a 16% increase, driven by strong global demand. This financial strength underscores Booking Holdings' ability to capitalize on market opportunities and deliver value to shareholders.
Room Night and Booking Growth
Room nights reached an impressive 309 million, marking an 8% year-over-year increase and surpassing prior expectations. Gross bookings also saw a 13% rise, with revenue climbing by 16%. These figures reflect the company's successful efforts in capturing a larger share of the travel market.
Expansion in Asia and Alternative Accommodations
Asia emerged as a key growth area, experiencing low double-digit growth in room nights. Additionally, Booking.com's alternative accommodation listings grew to 8.4 million, an 8% year-over-year increase, with a 10% growth in alternative accommodation room nights, showcasing the company's diversification strategy.
Development of Connected Trip Vision
The Connected Trip vision is gaining traction, with transactions growing over 30% year-over-year and flight tickets increasing by 44%. This development highlights Booking Holdings' commitment to enhancing the travel experience through integrated services.
Advancement in AI Capabilities
Investments in AI have significantly improved customer service efficiencies and user experiences across platforms like Priceline and OpenTable. These advancements are pivotal in maintaining competitive advantage and meeting evolving consumer expectations.
Strong Cash and Liquidity Position
The company concluded the quarter with a robust $18.2 billion in cash and investments, bolstered by $3.1 billion in free cash flow. This strong liquidity position provides Booking Holdings with the flexibility to pursue strategic initiatives and weather economic uncertainties.
Genius Loyalty Program Success
The Genius Loyalty Program continues to thrive, with over 30% of active travelers in higher Genius tiers, accounting for mid-50% of Booking.com's total room nights. This success underscores the program's effectiveness in driving customer loyalty and repeat bookings.
US Market Challenges
The US market remains a challenging landscape, being the slowest-growing region with lower ADRs, shorter lengths of stay, and a cautious consumer spending pattern. Addressing these challenges will be crucial for sustained growth in this key market.
Geopolitical and Economic Uncertainties
Concerns about macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties were noted, with potential impacts on future consumer behavior. The company remains vigilant in monitoring these factors to mitigate risks.
Middle East Impact
Events in the Middle East have slightly dampened global growth, impacting it by about 1% in June and a third of a percentage point overall in the second quarter. This highlights the interconnected nature of global markets and the need for strategic agility.
Forward-Looking Guidance
Looking ahead, Booking Holdings provided optimistic guidance for the third quarter and the full year 2025. The company anticipates room night growth between 3.5% and 5.5%, with gross bookings expected to rise by 8% to 10% and revenue growth between 7% and 9%. For the full year, low double-digit growth in gross bookings and revenue is expected, along with mid-teens growth in adjusted EBITDA and high teens growth in adjusted EPS, with adjusted EBITDA margins expanding by about 125 basis points.
In conclusion, Booking Holdings' earnings call reflects a strong financial performance and strategic advancements, particularly in AI and the Connected Trip vision. Despite challenges in the US market and geopolitical uncertainties, the company remains well-positioned for future growth, backed by robust demand and a strong cash position.

Is MRVL Stock a Buy, Sell or Hold at a P/E Multiple of 7.15X?

Marvell Technology MRVL is currently trading at a discounted valuation, with its forward 12-month price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio at 7.15X, which is lower than the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry average of 8.63X. Given MRVL's discounted valuation, investors might be wondering: Is this an opportunity to buy, or are there deeper challenges that could keep the stock in check? MRVL Forward 12 Months (P/E) Valuation Chart Product Innovation Positions MRVL for Sustainable Growth What makes Marvell Technology's low P/E value more attractive is its robust business prospects. Due to the proliferation of AI and high performance computing among data centers and hyperscalers, MRVL is experiencing massive traction in custom Application Specific Integrated Circuits, Custom high bandwidth memory Compute Architecture, Co-Packaged Optics Platform and Multi-Die Packaging Platform products. As data centers perform a growing number of AI-related tasks, improvements in networking, interconnect, processing and storage capabilities, requiring high-performance semiconductor solutions become crucial. Marvell Technology is capitalizing on this opportunity with 800G PAM, 400ZR DCI, and 1.6T PAM digital signal processing products. This growth is evident in Marvell Technology's data center segment, which has taken the lead among all its segments with 76% year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. Marvell Technology also plans to expand its customer base among hyperscaler customers that seek to stand out, cut expenses and want to gain more control over their AI infrastructure. Marvell Technology has collaborated with NVIDIA and leveraged the latter's NVLink Fusion platform to build comprehensive rack-scale AI solutions to meet the needs of hyperscalers. Furthermore, the shift from copper to optical connectivity in AI infrastructure represents a massive growth opportunity for Marvell Technology's Co-Packaged Optics technology. Marvell Technology is also experiencing a recovery among its enterprise networking and carrier infrastructure segments on the back of the demand rebound. However, Marvell Technology is also facing some challenges. With all these factors at play, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for Marvell Technology's 2026 revenues is pegged at $8.2 billion, indicating year-over-year growth of 42.6%. The consensus mark for earnings is pegged at $2.79 per share, suggesting a whopping 77.7% year-over-year increase. Key Challenges Faced by Marvell Technology Marvell is experiencing traction in its AI-focused custom silicon semiconductor business, but the margin in this business is half the story, as the margin in this business is fundamentally lower, affecting MRVL's gross margin. MRVL's custom AI silicon, including XPUs, is lowering MRVL's gross margins due to higher costs associated with manufacturing these chips. The ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties, like the U.S. government's evolving stance toward China, from which MRVL gained about 43% of its fiscal 2025 total revenues, are also a concern for the company. Investors' skepticism has also been intensified by the fear of sanctions and persistent tariff threats to China, where Marvell Technology owns research and development facilities. Furthermore, softness in MRVL's consumer end market due to volatility in gaming demand and lumpy order patterns in the industrial business has added to investor concerns. Marvell Technology also faces intense competition from Broadcom AVGO and Advanced Micro Devices AMD in the AI accelerator space and Micron Technology MU in the HBM space. Advanced Micro Devices is a strong player in the custom silicon solutions and AI accelerator space with its semi-custom SoC offerings and Instinct Accelerators that power numerous data centers. Advanced Micro Devices' reconfigurable Alveo Adaptable Accelerator Cards are used to speed up compute-intensive applications in data centers. Broadcom's advanced 3.5D XDSiP packaging platform is specifically designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of custom AI XPUs for AI accelerators. Micron Technology is also riding a powerful wave of demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DRAM products, especially as AI workloads surge. Micron Technology has made significant strides in AI-optimized memory solutions, with its HBM3E products gaining attention for their superior power efficiency and bandwidth. These factors have weighed on MRVL stock's performance. Stock Price Performance of MRVL Marvell Technology has underperformed the Zacks Electronics - Semiconductors industry in the year-to-date period by losing 32.6%. Marvell Technology YTD Performance Chart Conclusion: Hold MRVL Stock for Now Marvell Technology is facing several headwinds, including geopolitical tension, shrunken margins and growing competition across its end markets. However, the company has strong long-term fundamentals supported by its strong foothold in the data center and high-speed networking market. Considering all these factors, we suggest that investors should retain this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock at present. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here. MSIM Expands ETF Platform by Converting Mortgage Securities Mutual Fund to ETF

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) today announced the conversion of Morgan Stanley Mortgage Securities Trust (MTGDX) to Eaton Vance Mortgage Opportunities ETF (NYSE Arca: EVMO). Greg Finck and Andrew Szczurowski, Co-Heads of the Mortgage and Securitized investment team, are the portfolio managers along with Matt Buckley and Brandon Matsui. The introduction of Eaton Vance Mortgage Opportunities ETF brings the total number of ETFs on MSIM's platform to 18, including 10 active fixed income ETFs. 'Our ETF platform continues to grow and includes a range of investment strategies to meet investor demand,' said Ally Wallace, Global Head of Capital Markets and ETF Strategy at MSIM. 'We continue to focus on launching best-in-class investment strategies in the ETF wrapper.' EVMO is a diversified portfolio of agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS), non-agency MBS, commercial MBS and asset-backed securities that seeks to outperform broader fixed income markets with less volatility, low correlation and a higher yield. Portfolio Manager Andrew Szczurowski said that EVMO may offer investors an investment-grade alternative to corporate credit or a standalone MBS/securitized allocation. 'We believe agency MBS and other securitized assets can add a diversifying element to investor portfolios, especially those that are heavily exposed to U.S. corporate credit, because they tend to have different risk/return drivers,' said Mr. Finck. Commenting on where he sees investment opportunity, Mr. Szczurowski said, 'In our view, the MBS and securitized markets are driven by outside factors like the housing market, commercial real estate, consumer spending and as such, offer a nuanced way to access fixed income markets that isn't reliant on the business cycle.' With this conversion, MSIM's active fixed income ETF offering now includes: Eaton Vance Total Return Bond ETF (NYSE: EVTR) Eaton Vance Short Duration Income ETF (Nasdaq: EVSD) Eaton Vance Ultra-Short Income ETF (NYSE Arca: EVSB) Calvert Ultra-Short Investment Grade ETF (NYSE Arca: CVSB) Eaton Vance Mortgage Opportunities ETF (NYSE Arca: EVMO) Eaton Vance Intermediate Municipal Income (NYSE Arca: EVIM) Eaton Vance High Income Municipal ETF (Nasdaq: EVYM) Eaton Vance Short Duration Municipal Income ETF (NYSE Arca: EVSM) Eaton Vance High Yield ETF (NYSE Arca: EVHY) Eaton Vance Floating Rate ETF (NYSE Arca: EVLN) As of today, MSIM's ETF platform is comprised of 18 products including six Calvert-branded ETFs, three Parametric-branded ETFs and nine Eaton Vance-branded fixed income ETFs. Launched in early 2023, MSIM's ETF platform has grown to over $6 billion in assets. Risk Considerations: There is no assurance that a mutual fund will achieve its investment objective. Funds are subject to market risk, which is the possibility that the market values of securities owned by the fund will decline and that the value of fund shares may therefore be less than what you paid for them. Market values can change daily due to economic and other events (e.g. natural disasters, health crises, terrorism, conflicts and social unrest) that affect markets, countries, companies or governments. It is difficult to predict the timing, duration, and potential adverse effects (e.g. portfolio liquidity) of events. Accordingly, you can lose money investing in this fund. Please be aware that this fund may be subject to certain additional risks. Fixed-income securities are subject to the ability of an issuer to make timely principal and interest payments (credit risk), changes in interest rates (interest-rate risk), the creditworthiness of the issuer and general market liquidity (market risk). In a rising interest-rate environment, bond prices may fall and may result in periods of volatility and increased portfolio redemptions. In a declining interest-rate environment, the portfolio may generate less income . Longer-term securities may be more sensitive to interest rate changes. Mortgage and asset-backed securities are sensitive to early prepayment risk and a higher risk of default and may be hard to value and difficult to sell (liquidity risk). They are also subject to credit, market and interest rate risks. Certain U.S. government securities purchased by the Strategy, such as those issued by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. It is possible that these issuers will not have the funds to meet their payment obligations in the future. When-Issued Securities, Delayed Delivery Securities, TBAs and Forward Commitments. These investments may result in a form of leverage and may increase volatility in the Fund's share price. They are subject to risks such as failure of the counterparty to perform its obligation to deliver the security, the characteristics of a security delivered to the Fund may be less favorable than expected and the security the Fund buys will lose value prior to its delivery. Due to the possibility that prepayments will alter the cash flows on Collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs), it is not possible to determine in advance their final maturity date or average life. In addition, if the collateral securing the CMOs or any third party guarantees are insufficient to make payments, the strategy could sustain a loss. High yield securities ('junk bonds') are lower rated securities that may have a higher degree of credit and liquidity risk. Foreign securities are subject to currency, political, economic and market risks. Illiquid securities may be more difficult to sell and value than publicly traded securities (liquidity risk). Inverse floaters are sensitive to early prepayment risk and interest rate changes and are more volatile than most other fixed-income securities. Portfolio Turnover. Consistent with its investment policies, the Fund will purchase and sell securities without regard to the effect on portfolio turnover. Higher portfolio turnover will cause the Fund to incur additional transaction costs . Foreign securities are subject to currency, political, economic and market risk. Derivative instruments may disproportionately increase losses and have a significant impact on performance. They also may be subject to counterparty, liquidity, valuation, correlation and market risks. Active Management Risk. In pursuing the Fund's investment objective, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Inc. (the 'Adviser') has considerable leeway in deciding which investments to buy, hold or sell on a day-to-day basis, and which trading strategies to use. For example, the Adviser, in its discretion, may determine to use some permitted trading strategies while not using others. The success or failure of such decisions will affect the Fund's performance. Participant Concentration Risk. The Fund has a limited number of intermediaries that act as authorized participants and none of these authorized participants is or will be obligated to engage in creation or redemption transactions. As a result, shares may trade at a discount to net asset value ('NAV') and possibly face trading halts and/or delisting. Trading Risk. The market prices of shares are expected to fluctuate, in some cases materially, in response to changes in the Fund's NAV, the intra-day value of holdings, and supply and demand for shares. The Adviser cannot predict whether shares will trade above, below or at their NAV. Buying or selling shares in the secondary market may require paying brokerage commissions or other charges imposed by brokers. Eaton Vance, Parametric and Calvert are part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. is the adviser to the ETFs. The Eaton Vance, Parametric and Calvert ETFs are distributed by Foreside Fund Services LLC.

Buy, Sell or Hold Astera Labs Stock? Key Tips Ahead of Q2 Earnings

Astera Labs ALAB is set to report its second-quarter 2025 results on Aug. 5. For the to-be-reported quarter, ALAB expects revenues between $170 million and $175 million, suggesting an increase between 7% and 10% year over year. Earnings are expected between 32 cents and 33 cents per share. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for second-quarter revenues is currently pegged at $172.7 million, indicating an increase of 124.7% from the figure reported in the year-ago quarter. The consensus mark for earnings is currently pegged at 33 cents per share, unchanged over the past 30 days and suggests massive 153.85% growth over the figure reported in the year-ago quarter. ALAB's earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate in all the trailing four quarters, the average earnings surprise being 28.41%. Let's see how things are shaping up prior to this announcement. Factors to Note for ALAB's Q2 Earnings Astera Labs expects accelerated shipments of Scorpio P-Series switches and Aries 6 retimers on a customized rack-scale AI platform based on market-leading GPUs to boost top-line growth. Scorpio revenues are expected to grow sequentially in the second quarter. Astera Labs is benefiting from strong demand for Aries and Taurus product families, both expected to grow on a sequential basis in the second quarter of 2025. Diversification across both GPU and custom ASIC-based systems for a variety of applications, including scale-up and scale-out connectivity, is a key catalyst for ALAB's Aries product family. Continued deployment of AI and general-purpose systems at leading hyperscaler customers is benefiting the Taurus system. However, uncertainty over tariff-related issues and stiff competition from the likes of Credo Technology CRDO and Broadcom AVGO are major headwinds. The company continues to invest in product development to stay ahead of the competition. In first-quarter 2025, research and development (R&D) expenses jumped 20% year over year to $64.6 million. Operating expense is expected to be between $73 million and $75 million in the second quarter of 2025, driven by higher R&D expenses. ALAB Shares Underperform Sector Astera Labs shares have dropped 1% year to date, underperforming the broader Zacks Computer and Technology sector's return of 9.1% and the Zacks Internet Software industry's return of 17.5%. ALAB Stock's Performance Astera Labs stock is not so cheap, as the Value Score of F suggests a stretched valuation at this moment. In terms of the forward 12-month Price/Sales, ALAB is trading at 26.26X, higher than the industry's 5.65X. Price/Sales (F12M) Astera Labs is currently trading above the 50-day and 200-day moving averages, indicating a bullish trend. ALAB Trades Above 50-Day and 200-Day SMAs Strong Portfolio Aids Astera Labs Amid Growing Competition Astera Labs has emerged as a key player in next-gen data center connectivity with a full-stack portfolio spanning PCIe 6.0, Ultra Accelerator (UA) Link, and CXL 3.0. Apart from shipping PCIe Gen 6 Scorpio P-Series Smart Fabric Switches, Aries 6 PCIe/CXL Smart Retimers, and Aries 6 PCIe Smart Cable Modules, the company added Aries 6 PCIe Smart Gearboxes. The addition of PCIe 6 over Optics Technology is noteworthy. Astera Labs plans to provide a broad portfolio of connectivity solutions for the entire AI rack through purpose-built silicon hardware and software to support computing platforms based on both custom ASICs and merchant GPUs is a key catalyst. UA Link, which combines the memory semantics of PCIe and the fast speed of Ethernet, but is devoid of the software complexity and performance limitations of Ethernet, is a game-changer. ALAB expects to deliver UA Link solutions in 2026 to solve scale-up connectivity challenges for next-generation AI infrastructure. The growing proliferation of UA Link is expected to be a multibillion-dollar additional market opportunity for Astera Labs by 2029. A rich partner base that includes NVIDIA NVDA, Alchip and Wistron is noteworthy. Astera Labs has showcased the first end-to-end PCIe 6 interoperability with NVIDIA's Blackwell GPU and Micron's NVMe SSD, with both Aries 6 PCIe Smart Retimer and Scorpio-P PCIe SmartFabric Switch. ALAB is advancing next-gen data center infrastructure with the introduction of a PCIe 6-ready reference design based on NVIDIA Blackwell-based MGX platform that leverages Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches for AI and cloud infrastructure. ALAB has announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to provide scale-up connectivity solutions for the new NVIDIA NVLink Fusion ecosystem. However, Astera Labs is facing stiff competition from both Broadcom and Credo Technology. Broadcom's launch of PCIe Gen 6 portfolio, featuring high-port switches and retimers tested for interoperability with partners like Micron and Teledyne LeCroy, is a noteworthy development. Credo Technology continues to gain share in the optical segment, with a major DSP win for an 800G transceiver and the launch of ultra-low-power optical DSPs based on 5nm technology. It also reported a healthy pipeline of PCIe Gen6 AECs and retimers, with further customer wins expected to support fiscal 2026 growth. Conclusion Astera Labs benefits from a strong portfolio and partner base amid rising competition and tariff uncertainties. A stretched valuation somewhat dims the stock's appeal ahead of second-quarter 2025 results. ALAB currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), which implies that investors should wait for a more favorable entry point to accumulate the stock.
