
VPA brings laurels to Vizag
Organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), the ceremony witnessed Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SMPA) and Indian Maritime University (IMU) securing second and third positions respectively. The Ministry lauded VPA's outstanding efforts in cleanliness and sanitation.
As per parameters set by MoPSW's, VPA executed a series of impactful initiatives under 'Swachhata Ki Bhagidari' and 'Sampoorna Swachhata', including mass cleanliness drives, the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' plantation programme, wall paintings, school outreach campaigns, cultural activities creative competitions promoting the Swachh Bharat message. A breakthrough task was the mega drive at the Fishing Harbour, where sunken boats lying for over 15 years were removed.
VPA medical department held Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs with preventive health check-ups, PPE distribution and medical support for sanitation workers. In a strong push towards environmental sustainability, VPA developed large-scale beautification and landscaping projects, planting 31,800 saplings across ASR, Anakapalli, and Visakhapatnam districts. VPA's trekking and clean-up drive at Kambalakonda Eco-Tourism Park engaged 350 participants, combining community bonding with environmental action. Chairperson congratulated the team and reaffirmed VPA's dedication to a cleaner, greener and healthier environment in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Cleanliness drive at BLW Tagore Park
1 2 Varanasi: Under the directives of the Ministry of Railways and as part of the Cleanliness Campaign-2025, a mega shramdaan (mass cleanliness drive ) was organised at Tagore Park of Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) on Monday. The objective of this campaign was not only to carry out intensive cleaning of the park and surrounding areas but also to promote awareness and active participation towards cleanliness among officers, employees, their family members, and the general public. The activities included intensive cleaning of the park and the pond on its premises, garbage disposal, improvement of the drainage system, and cleaning of walls and removal of accumulated silt and dirt. BLW GM Naresh Pal Singh, who led the drive, planted saplings, conveying the message of a clean and green environment. The GM said, "The aim was to set an example for society, inspiring others to contribute towards the realisation of the dream of Swachh Bharat – Swasth Bharat." The event saw the participation of senior officials of BLW, staff council members, members of Civil Defence, Scouts & Guides, St John Ambulance Team, and BLW Railway Protection Force personnel, along with a large number of employees. 11k saplings planted in green drive
Indore:The Union minister of state for Defence Sanjay Seth participated in a large-scale tree plantation drive in Indore on Sunday under the Ek Bagiya Maa ke Naam campaign. During the event, 11,000 saplings were planted each at the BSF campus and near Gandhinagar police station behind Pitru Parvat. The campaign has set a target of planting 51 lakh saplings. Seth praised Indore's commendable contribution to environmental conservation. "The Ek Ped Maa ke Naam and Ek Bagiya Maa ke Naam campaigns have spread the message of environmental conservation across India. Just as Indore has secured the top spot in cleanliness for the eighth consecutive time, it will also become a leading city in greenery and environmental efforts. Other cities in the country can follow Indore's example to achieve this status," he said. He added that Indore achieved a significant milestone last year by planting over 51 lakh trees. Urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya urged citizens to plant a tree in their mother's name, care for it, and leave the gift of greenery for future generations. Garden in-charge Rajendra Rathore said that land was provided for the construction of a treated water pipeline and sump well to maintain the saplings planted by the BSF.
