Son of the river comes back to save lives: The quiet hero of Narmada's deadly Dhuandhar Falls
Hariom Singh Bains, a 48-year-old police head constable, has saved more than 200 lives in seven years from drowning in the famous Dhuandhar Waterfalls on River Narmada, in Jabalpur district's Bhedaghat town. Dhuandhar waterfalls, known for its smoky waters and marble rocks, has seen an increasing number of people committing suicide or drowning due to accidents, over the past few years.
Guided by the mission of not letting people lose their lives in the famous waterfalls, Hariom, joined by five local youngsters, has saved 200-plus lives, out of which around 80% were suicide attempts.
Hailing from Chhindwara district, Hariom learnt the art of swimming and diving in the Pench River during his teenage years. He joined the MP Police as a constable in 2008 and since then has been posted in Jabalpur district. His first successful rescue operation happened in 2010, during his first posting at Jabalpur's Bargi Nagar Chowki, when he formed an integral part of the overnight operations to rescue seven shepherds stranded on an island created by the swollen Temar River.
This operation earned him the reputation of being an expert life saver. Since then, he has struck an inseparable bond with the Dhuandhar falls.
In 2016, two nursing students from MP's Satna district had jumped into the mammoth waterfall at around midnight. Without caring for his own life, Hariom jumped into the river and managed to save one of the girls, but the other was lost in the swollen river. This feat won him the coveted Jeevan Raksha Padak in 2018.
Just a year before saving the female nursing student from Satna district, Hariom had saved the life of a Jabalpur-based college going girl, who was hell bent on ending her life in the waterfalls.

Graphic designer who made provocative posters for PFI before ban, granted bail
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Maula Nabisab Mulla, a Nashik-based graphic designer who had spent over two years in custody for allegedly designing posters for the Popular Front of India (PFI) — at a time when the organisation was not yet banned by the Government of India.A bench comprising Justices A S Gadkari and Rajesh S Patil noted that the case against Mulla pertained solely to graphic designing work, including banners and social media content, and that the PFI was not a proscribed organisation at the time of the alleged to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Nashik, a PFI office was inaugurated on June 14, 2022, in Malegaon, where a meeting allegedly took place discussing various incidents of atrocities against the Muslim community, including mob lynching. Bizman duped of 1.77cr in online trading scam
Lucknow: A Lucknow-based businessman was duped of Rs 1.77 crore in an online trading scam that began with a WhatsApp message and ended with his investment account being blocked. The case was registered at the cyber crime police station on Tuesday. The victim, Vivek Verma, originally from Safedabad in Barabanki and currently residing in Indiranagar Sector-16, alleged that the fraud began when he received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number a few weeks ago. The sender, identifying herself as Shruti Jaiswal, introduced him to a trading platform that allegedly offered high returns. She gained his trust by showing attractive profits on initial small investments and later sent him a website link, urging him to register and begin trading through the platform. Verma initially invested a small sum and soon saw a credited profit of Rs 1 lakh in his account, a tactic often used by cyber fraudsters to lure victims into deeper investments. Encouraged by these returns, he invested a total of Rs 1.77 crore across 22 transactions between May 27 and July 16. However, when he attempted to withdraw the profits, his account was suddenly blocked, and the so-called trading platform went silent. Realising he was duped, Verma approached the Cyber Crime police station and lodged a complaint. "We are tracking the IP address and the payment gateway used in the transactions to trace the accused," said cyber crime inspector Brajesh Yadav.

The incident came to light after Chautala received a threatening video message from a Cyprus-based WhatsApp number about a week ago, showing the firing at the statue. The message also contained a threat that after Moose Wala's killing, his sympathisers would be next.
