'Major goal' to buy back Huish Park
"We've had numerous discussions with the council who have been incredibly supportive," he added. "Things are progressing nicely and hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later."The Glovers have been renting Huish Park from the council since the sale went through just over three years ago. The deal to sell the ground and 11 acres of surrounding land was initially approved in 2020. It was spearheaded by former Yeovil chairman Scott Priestnall, who said it was needed to "help the club survive". Priestnall sold the club to Martin Hellier shortly after the sale was completed during a period of turbulence, and at a time when they were briefly relegated to National League South. Under the terms of the lease the club are able to buy back the stadium, and Robins said owning it had many benefits."There's a rent bill that wouldn't need to be paid - that's the main thing - but it gives us options to secure the long-term sustainability of the football club," he said. "It's so important for fans and supporters to think you've got your own stadium."Yeovil begin the 2025-26 National League campaign at home to Hartlepool United on Saturday, 9 August in the first match under Srinivasan's tenure.

Marcus Rashford produces early contender for miss of the season in Barcelona's 5-0 demolition of Cesc Fabregas' Como
Marcus Rashford produced a glaring misses as Barcelona swept aside Cesc Fabregas ' Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday. The England forward joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United last month, with the Catalan giants having the option to turn the move permanent for around £30m. He made his home debut on Sunday night as the LaLiga side cruised to a 5-0 victory in their final pre-season match. But with Barcelona already 4-0 up, Rashford squandered a golden chance to mark the occasion with a goal. The 27-year-old rounded the goalkeeper but somehow fired wide of an open goal. He and team-mate Raphinha were both left with their heads in their hands in disbelief. Fortunately for Rashford, Barcelona were already out of sight thanks to goals from Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, with the teenage sensation adding a second after the break to complete the 5-0 demolition. The United loanee did at least play his part in the rout, using his blistering pace to beat a defender before delivering a perfect assist for Raphinha's strike. Rashford will be hopeful of making his competitive debut for barcelona when they open their LaLiga campaign with a trip to Mallorca on Saturday. The reigning champions have faced difficulties in registering players with the league due to their ongoing financial situation. Barcelona struggled to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor last season, with the pair initially given temporary licences which were revoked by LaLiga during the January transfer window. The club were temporarily granted permission to have the licences reinstated following an appeal, but the saga dragged on throughout the 2025-26 season. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed confidence that Rashford will be among six stars registered prior to the season. 'It's progressing well,' Laporta told ESPN. 'We're doing our job and we're confident that we'll be able to register everyone.' When asked about the situation, Rashford added 'It's something for the club to sort out. I believe they are going to get it sorted. 'I just focus on training and be ready for the start of the season.'

Would you pay £12,460 for a John Lewis duvet? Department store chain sells Icelandic eiderdown cover from its 'Ultimate Collection'
It's what duvet dreams are made of – but you'll need deep pockets to sleep under it. John Lewis is selling an emperor size Icelandic eiderdown cover from its 'Ultimate Collection' for £12,460. The duvet, which promises 'pure luxury', has raised the eyebrows of shoppers. 'I could furnish my entire house for that and still have change,' said one. The single size version of the duvet is £4,935, medium is £7,205, king costs £9,710 and the superking is priced at £10,115. Other items in the Ultimate Collection range include a superking mattress worth £12,499, an Egyptian cotton duvet cover for £510 and a £75 Oxford pillowcase. A full set of bedding from the collection, including the duvet and mattress, can add up to £26,000. The 'Ultimate Collection' duvet is described as 'winter weight' – suggesting a switch to a lighter duvet during the summer months. 'Pure luxury whilst you sleep, this duvet provides unsurpassed insulation whilst also being exceptionally lightweight and fluffy,' the description says. 'Filled with unique down from the eider duck, which is collected in Iceland and sent to our textile factory in Lancashire where it is handcrafted.' The online listing shows just one review from a customer with the username 'Anniepie'. Giving five stars out of five, the review posted in March says: 'I've always been a bit of an insomniac, but since buying this duvet my sleep has improved no end.' But not everyone is convinced by the price tag. Helen Chandler-Wilde, an author and journalist, wrote online: 'What on EARTH is going on with this duvet John Lewis is selling for TWELVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS.' Icelandic Down, a manufacturer of products made with eiderdown, said: 'Like the world's most precious natural resources, eiderdown's price can partly be attributed to the difficulty of finding, collecting, and processing it.' John Lewis said the duvet is 'premium, made-to-order' and 'the ultimate luxury'. However, the firm has pointed out its other duvets start at £15, for shoppers on a more modest budget. John Lewis's slogan 'Never Knowingly Undersold' was introduced in 1925 to promise that it would refund the price difference if a purchased item could be found cheaper elsewhere. The slogan was ditched in 2022 then revived two years later, but applying only to a list of 25 major competitors including Boots, Marks & Spencer and Dunelm.

49ers signing RB Jeff Wilson Jr. to bolster backfield
August 10 - The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly bringing back a familiar face to an injury-depleted backfield. Jeff Wilson Jr., who spent the first four-plus years of his NFL career in San Francisco before spending the past three seasons in Miami, will re-sign with the 49ers after working out for the team on July 30. The 2018 undrafted free agent out of North Texas rushed for 1,733 yards and 15 touchdowns with San Francisco, which traded the running back to Miami midway through the 2022 season. Wilson ran for just 637 yards and three scores in Miami, appearing in only 19 games over the past two years. The 29-year-old adds some depth for the 49ers, who have seen several running backs succumb to injuries recently. Ameer Abdullah, who worked out with Wilson on July 30 and signed with the team, exited Saturday's preseason opener against Denver with a rib injury. Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) and Jordan James (broken finger) also have been sidelined. That left San Francisco with only Christian McCaffrey, Corey Kiner, Patrick Taylor Jr. and recently signed Ke'Shawn Vaughn as healthy options in the backfield. --Field Level Media
